17、chnical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.15.2 Pressure RatingDesigns not meeting the requirementsof 6.2 shall be tested to verify that the hydrostatic design basiscategory for joint assemblies shall not be lower than thehydrostatic design basis category for pipe when tested underthe same procedure.
18、 The hydrostatic design basis for this jointdesign shall be established on a representative size at aminimuim test level of 10 points and 2000 h in accordance withTest Method D2837, except that the ends shall be restrained.Test pressure levels for establishing hydrostatic design basisshall be calcul

20、 testing of the joint design.5.3 Mechanical JointThe mechanical joint shall provide apressure rating equal to or greater than that of the correspond-ing pipe.5.3.1 Internal StiffenerThe pipe spigot shall have a wallthickness sufficient to withstand, without deformation orcollapse, the compressive fo

If the wall is not sufficient to withstand the com-pressive force, then a rigid tubular internal stiffener shall beused in conjunction with compressive-type mechanical jointfittings. A stiffener specified by the manufacturer for thispurpose shall be used.5.4
22、 Joint DeflectionThe joint shall provide a seal when thepipe spigot is deflected axially in the socket to the maximumunstressed limit permitted by dimensional clearance betweenthe spigot and bell.6. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations6.1 Joint Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions ofthe b

24、the pipe barrel. The minimum wall thicknessin the sealing portion of the ring groove and bell entry sectionsshall equal or exceed the minimum wall thickness requirementsof the pipe barrel (see Fig. 1 or Fig. 2).6.3 Gasket DimensionsGasket dimensions shall be inaccordance with the manufacturers stand
25、ard design dimen-sions and tolerances. The gasket shall be of such size and shapeas to provide an adequate compressive force against the spigotand socket after assembly to effect a positive seal under allcombinations of permitted joint and gasket tolerances. Thegasket shall be the sole element depen

Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The manufacturer of these joints shall produce jointsmeeting the requirements of this specification. Components ofthe joints shall be homogenous throughout a

Test Methods8.1 The assembled joints shall pass the following laboratoryqualifying tes

(For referee testing, standard laboratory con-ditions of 73F and 50 % relative humidity will apply.)8.1.1 Internal Pressure TestingLaboratory hydrostaticpressure tests on joints shall be made on an assembly of twosections of pipe properly connected in accordance with thejoint design and deflecte
