、Designation: D3841 16 An American National StandardStandard Specification forGlass-Fiber-Reinforced Polyester Plastic Panels1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D3841; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision,

、 the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S. Department of Defense.1. Scope*1.1 This specification

、 covers the classification, materials ofconstruction, workmanship, minimum physical requirements, and methods of testing glass-fiber reinforced polyester plasticpanels intended for use in construction. Panels for specializedor unique applications have the potential to require valuessignificantly abov

、e or below those stated in this specification.Recommended practices for certain specific applications areincluded as Appendix X1. This specification is not intended torestrict or limit technological changes affecting performancewhen those changes are agreed upon between the purchaserand the seller.1

、.2 Supplementary information on chemical resistance, re-sistance to heat, and installation practices are provided inAppendix X1.1.3 The classification of these plastic panels into typesbased on relative response to a laboratory test shall not beconsidered a fire hazard classification.1.4 The values

、stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are forinformation only.1.5 The text of this standard references notes and footnoteswhich provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes(excluding those in Tables and Figures) shall not be consider

、edas requirements of this standard.1.6 Fire properties are determined by using laboratoryflammability tests (Test Methods D635, D1929, and E84).1.6.1 This standard is used to measure and describe theresponse of materials, products, or assemblies to heat and flameunder controlled conditions, but does

、 not by itself incorporateall factors required for fire hazard or fire risk assessment of thematerials, products or assemblies under actual fire conditions.1.6.2 Fire testing is inherently hazardous. Adequate safe-guards for personnel and property shall be employed inconducting these tests.1.7 The f

Determine the crests of the corrugation

、s or ribs byplacing a metal straightedge crosswise on the panel so that ittouches the crests. Measure to within 60.0625 in. (65.2mm/m)/ft (304.8 mm) of panel width and divide by the numberof pitches to obtain an average pitch value.8.6 DepthThe depth of the corrugation is the verticaldistance betwee

(0.76mm) with a depth micrometer on each specimen and averagethe results.8.7 ColorExamine the panel visually from a distance of10 ft (3 m) for color uniformity by viewing. Minor differencesin intensity of the color due to the uneven dispersion of theglass fibers in the resin shall not be cause for rejection.TABLE 1 Physical PropertiesAProperty ValueBASTMTest Metho
