20、erference fit at thebottom of the socket.4.1.4 Pressure RatingPressure rating shall be categorizedby a single letter designation. Pressure designations are shownin Table 1.4.1.5 Burst pressure, sealing test pressure, and bolt torquelimit shall be categorized by single capital letter designationsas i
21、ndicated by the cell classification system of Table 2.4.2 Designation CodeThe flange designation code shallconsist of the abbreviation RTR, followed by the type, grade,and class in arabic numerals, the pressure rating category as acapital letter, and three capital letters identifying the cellclassif
22、ication designations of the burst pressure, sealing testpressure, and the bolt torque limit, respectively. Thus, acomplete flange designation code shall consist of three letters,three numerals and one letter, and three letters.4.2.1 ExampleRTR-112E-EED. This designation de-scribes a filament-wound,
23、glass fiber-reinforced epoxy resinflange with a taper to taper adhesive joining system. The flangehas a 150 psi (1.40 MPa) pressure rating, a burst pressure inexcess of 600 psi (4.1 MPa), a sealing test pressure of 225 psi(1.6 MPa), and a bolt torque limit greater than 75 lbfft (102Nm).NOTE 3Flanges
24、 with identical classification from different manufac-turers may not be interchangeable due to nonstandardization of pipe orsocket diameter, socket length, taper angle, or combination thereof.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Flanges manufactured in accordance with this specifi-cation shall be compose
25、d of reinforcement imbedded in orsurrounded by cured thermosetting resin. The composite struc-ture may contain granular or platelet fillers, thixotropic agents,pigments, or dyes.5.2 The resins, reinforcements, and other materials, whencombined as composite structure, shall produce a flange thatwill
26、meet the performance requirements of this specification.6. Performance Requirements6.1 The following performance requirements are intended toprovide classification and performance criteria for the purposeof qualification testing and rating of prototype constructionsand periodic reevaluation of the m
27、anufacturers stated ratings.They are not intended as routine quality assurance require-ments for production runs of rated flanges.6.2 Flanges shall meet the following performance require-ments when joined for testing according to the manufacturersrecommended practice for field installation:6.2.1 Sea
28、lingFlanges shall withstand a pressure of at least1.5 times the rated design pressure without leakage when testedin accordance with 10.4.6.2.2 Short-Term Rupture StrengthFlanges shall withstanda hydrostatic load of at least four times their rated designpressure without damage to the flange when test
29、ed in accor-dance with 10.5.6.2.3 Bolt TorqueFlanges shall withstand, without visiblesign of damage, a bolt torque of at least 1.5 times thatrecommended by the manufacturer for sealing of the flange atits rated pressure when tested in accordance with 10.6.7. (610 mm) indiameter shall conform to the values for bolt circle, numberand size of bolt holes, and outside diameter for Class 125 castiron flanges in ANSI B 16.1. The tolerances for the flangedimensions provided in T
33、able 3A and 3B shall be the same asthose contained in ANSI B 16.5. For all size flanges otherflange and bolt dimensions which meet internationally recog-nized standards such as ISO, DIN, JIS, BS, or GB can be usedas long as they are agreed to by the buyer and seller.8.1.2 Flange FaceThe flange face
34、shall be perpendicularto the axis of the fitting within12 . The sealing surface of flatface or serrated face flanges shall be flat to 6132 in. (1 mm) forsizes up to and including 18 in. (457 mm) diameter and6116 in. (2 mm) for larger diameters.8.1.3 Washer Bearing SurfaceWasher bearing surfaceshall
35、be flat and parallel to the flange face within 61.8.2 Pipe StopEach adhesive joined flange shall providesufficient taper or a diametric constriction to act as a stopduring adhesive joining so that the pipe stub cannot projectbeyond the face of the flange.9. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance9.1 Fla
36、nges shall be free as commercially practical ofdefects, including indentations, delaminations, bubbles,pinholes, foreign inclusions, and resin-starved areas.10. Test Methods10.1 ConditioningWhen conditioning is required, and inall cases of disagreement, condition the test specimens at 73.46 3.6F (23

46、easured with a micrometer of vernier calipers, or othersuitable measuring devices accurate to within 60.001 in.(60.02 mm). Diameters shall be determined by averaging aminimum of four measurements, equally spaced circumferen-tially.10.4 SealingFlanged components in general arrangementwith Fig. 1 shal
47、l be bolted together using the gasket and bolttorque recommended for standard field installation by theflange manufacturer. The assembly shall then be pressuretested and be required to hold the test pressure for a period of168 hours without leakage. Retorque to the manufacturersspecified level after
48、 initial pressurization is permitted.10.5 Short-Term Rupture StrengthFlanged componentsshall be tested in accordance with Test Method D1599 withfree-end closure except as herein noted. The pressure in thespecimen shall be increased until failure of the flange occurs.Pressure testing in an atmospheri
49、c environment is permissible.Minimum failure time shall be 60 s; no restriction shall beplaced on maximum time-to-failure. Leaking past the gasketinterface is permissible during this test. Bolt torque may beincreased as necessary during the test in order to minimizegasket leaking and to achieve the pressure necessary to causeflange failure. The assembly used for the test in 10.4 may beused for this test. (WarningDo not test with any pressurizedgas.)10.6 Maximum Bolt TorqueUsing the gasket and hardware
