4、rements of this specification are to providefabricated PVC fittings suitable for drainage and venting ofsanitary waste systems, storm water systems, and certain otherliquid wastes. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions are in accordance with Termi-nology F412, and abbreviations are in accordance with Termi

Materials and Manufacture4.1 Basic MaterialsThe molded components for fabri-cated fittings shall be made of virgin or rework PVC com-pounds meeting or exceeding the requirements of Class 12454as defined in Specification D1784.4.1.1 The pipe shall be made
18、of PVC that meets therequirements of the Materials Section of Specification D1785or D2665.4.2 GasketsElastomeric seals (gaskets) shall comply withthe requirements of Specification F477 or F913.4.3 LubricantThe lubricant used for field assembly shallbe the type recommended by the manufacturer of the
19、fitting.Prolonged exposure to the lubricant shall not damage thegasket, pipe, or fitting.5. General Requirements5.1 Fabrication Joint Material The fabrication joint ma-terial or reinforcing overlays shall be of the type, strength, andproperties suitable for intended fabrication. It is the decision o
20、fthe manufacturer as to what material will be used. The PVCprimer shall meet the requirements of Specification F656. ThePVC solvent cement shall meet the requirements of Specifica-tion D2564.5.2 Heat Fusion WeldsFittings assembled using the heatfusion welding process shall meet all of the requiremen
21、ts ofthis specification.5.3 Pipe PerformancePipe that is used to fabricate fittingsshall meet all of the schedule 40 requirements of SpecificationD1785 or D2665.5.4 WaterwayFabricated fittings shall be constructed sothat pipe ends of branches do not project into the waterway ofthe fitting body.5.5 G
22、asketed Joint SystemThe joint shall display noleakage when tested in accordance with the requirements ofSpecification D3212 when assembled in accordance with thefitting manufacturers recommendations. All surfaces of thejoint that contact the gasket shall be smooth and free ofimperfections, ridges, f
23、ractures or cracks that could affect theseal.6. Dimensions and Permissible Variations6.1 Spigot DiameterThe outside diameter and out-of-roundness of the fitting spigot shall meet the requirements ofTable 1 when measured in accordance with 10.1.16.2 Spigot LengthThe spigot length shall meet the requi
24、re-ments as given in Table 1 when measured in accordance with10.1.2.6.3 Wall ThicknessThe minimum wall thickness of thefitting shall meet the requirements of Table 1 when measured inaccordance with 10.1.3. In the case of fittings fabricated frompipe sections, the thickness of the wall in the bell an
25、d brancharea shall be considered satisfactory if it was formed from pipemeeting those requirements.6.4 Solvent Cement Sockets:6.4.1 Socket DiameterThe inside diameter of the fittingsocket shall meet the requirements as specified in Table 2 whenmeasured in accordance with 10.1.4.6.4.2 Socket DepthsTh
26、e socket depth shall meet the re-quirements as given in Table 2 when measured in accordancewith 10.1.5.6.5 Gasket Joint SocketsThe minimum depth and maxi-mum projection for gasket sockets, show in Fig. 1, shall meetthe dimensional values given in Table 3. Measurements shallbe made in accordance with
27、 Test Method D2122. All otherdimensions shall be in accordance with the manufacturersspecifications.7. Properties7.1 Resistance to BendingFabricated fittings shall betested in accordance with 10.2. The bond shall not show anysign of cracking, splitting, or separation as seen by the nakedeye.7.2 Leak
28、 TestAfter completing the Resistance to Bendingtest, the fabrication joint shall be checked for leakage inaccordance with 10.3. Joints shall be made in accordance withPractice D2855.8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous th
33、roughout, and freefrom visible cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects.Scratches deeper than 10 % of the wall thickness shall beconsidered unacceptable. The fittings shall be uniform in color,opacity, density, and other physical properties.9. Sample and Conditioning9.1 SamplingThe select
34、ion of fitting samples shall be asagreed upon between the purchaser and the manufacturer. Incase of no prior agreement, samples selected by the testinglaboratory shall be deemed adequate.9.2 Conditioning:9.2.1 Referee TestingThe specimen shall be conditioned inaccordance with Procedure A of Practice
35、 D618 at 73.4 6 3.6F(23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity for not less than 40h prior to test. Tests shall be conducted at the same conditionsof temperature and humidity, unless otherwise specified.9.2.2 Quality Control TestsThe specimens shall be condi-tioned for a minimum of4hinairor1hinwater a

45、test de-scribed in 10.2.1. Using the alternative 4 loading arrangementillustrated in Fig. 3, apply the bending moment shown in Table4.10.3 Leak TestAfter the fitting passes the branch bend test,subject it to a 25 psi hydrostatic test and check the fabricationjoint for leaks. Visible leaks in the fab
46、rication joint constitutea failure. After completing these tests (10.2 and 10.3), thefitting shall be discarded.11. Inspection11.1 Inspection and testing of the product shall be as agreedupon between the purchaser and the manufacturer as part of thepurchase contract.11.2 Inspection and testing by th
47、e purchaser shall not relievethe manufacturer of the responsibility of furnishing productmeeting the requirements of this specification.11.3 If purchaser inspection is specified, the manufacturershall notify the purchaser in advance as to the date, time, andplace of testing the product so that the p
48、urchaser may berepresented at the test.11.4 The inspector shall have free access to those areas ofthe manufacturers plant that are involved in inspection andproduct testing to be performed under this specification. Themanufacturer shall provide the inspector with facilities fordetermining whether th
49、e product meets the requirements of thisspecification.12. Retest and Rejection12.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the require-ments of this specification, the test(s) shall be conducted againonly by agreement between the purchaser and manufacturer.Under such agreement, minimum requirements shall not belowered, changed, or modified, nor shall specification limits bechanged.
