1、Designation: F2031 05 (Reapproved 2014) An American National StandardStandard Test Method forMeasurement of Arrow Shaft Static Spine (Stiffness)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation F2031; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in t

2、he case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method covers the formulation and designationof arrow spine measurement sta

3、ndards and nomenclature forarrow shafts.1.2 The English system of measurement, specifically inchesof deflection, shall be used for all spine values expressed for agiven arrow shaft.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresp

Significance and Use3.1 This test method is intended to provide a stable industrystandard by which benchmarks and comparisons can be madeby manufacturers and consumers.3.2 This test method is intended to clarify and define arrowspine or stiffness as it pertains to the archery industry

7、 and sport.4. Measurement Guidelines for Arrow Spine4.1 Arrow Spine MeasurementThe most prevalent andcommonly accepted method of measuring arrow shaft spineinvolves supporting the arrow shaft along a known, fixed span, and using an indicator device while the arrow shaft is deflectedwith a known weigh

8、t depending from or pressing upon thearrow shaft at the exact center between the supports for theshaft. For this test method, a span type measurement is to beused. The length of the arrow shaft to be tested, the spandistance to be used, and the equipment to be used are definedas follows:4.1.1 Shaft

9、Length The shaft length to be used forstandard spine measurement is the span distance plus 1 in. toallow for axial travel during deflection.4.1.2 Span Distance The length of the span to be used forthis test is 28 in. (71.1 cm). For those shafts that aremanufactured less than 29 in. (73.7 cm) in leng

10、th, the spandistance to be used is 23 in. (58.4 cm).4.1.2.1 Span = 28 in. (71.1 cm) for shafts longer than 29 in.(73.7 cm).4.1.2.2 Span = 23 in. (58.4 cm) for shafts shorter than 29 in.(73.7 cm).4.1.2.3 Approximate conversion formula to convert a spineat 23 in. (58.4 cm) span to a 28 in. (71.1 cm) s

(3.175mm) at the point of contact with the arrow shaft.4.1.6 Test Description The arrow shaft shall be deflectedby a 1.94 lb (880 g) weight at the center of the span. Theweight may depend from or rest upon the shaft. The differenc

Industry Guidelines for Specification Disclosure5.1 The term standard spine may be used in instances wherea reading is taken in accordance with this test method.5.2 Spine readings sha

Because humidity is nota factor in arrow shaft measurement a relative humidity rangeof 5 to 85 % is permissible.5.3 The shaft span for which the reading has been takenshall be clearly defined in English units, specifically in

Precision and Bias6.1 It is not practical to specify the precision of theprocedure of this test method because it has not yet beendet
