Scope*1.1 This specification covers metal insert fittings with o-ringseals and copper crimp rings for use with Cross-linked Poly-ethylene (PEX) and Cross-linked Polyethylene/Aluminum/Cross-linked Polyethylene (PEX-AL-PEX) tubing in12,34 1,and 114 in. nominal diameters that

4、meet the requirements forSpecifications F876 and F2262. These fittings are intended foruse in 125 psi (861.9 kPa) (PEX-AL-PEX) and 100 psi (689.5kPa) (PEX) cold- and hot-water distribution systems operatingat temperatures up to and including 180F (82C). Included arethe requirements for materials, wo

5、rkmanship, dimensions,performance, and markings to be used on the fittings and rings.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.

Materials and Manufacture5.1 FittingsThe fittings shall be made from one of thefollowing metals:5.1.1 Cast Copper AlloysCast copper alloy fittings shallbe made from material meeting the requirements of Specifica-ti

C84400, C83800, C87850or C89844 or Specification B62 Copper Alloy UNS No.C83600.5.1.2 Machined BrassMachined brass fittings shall bemade from material meeting the requirements of SpecificationB371/B371M, Copper Alloy UNS No. C69300, SpecificationB140/B140M Copper Alloy

20、 UNS No. C31400, SpecificationB283 Copper Alloy UNS No. C37700, or Specification B16/B16M Copper Alloy UNS No. C36000 or C69300 CopperAlloy UNS No. C27450.5.1.3 Forged BrassForged brass fittings shall be madefrom material meeting the requirements of Specification B283Copper Alloy UNS Nos. C37700 or

21、Copper Alloy UNS No.C27450.5.2 Crimp RingsCrimp rings shall be made from copperUNS Nos. C10200, or C12200, and shall be black in color oralternately be identified per 10.2.3.2 of this specification. Thecrimp rings shall have a minimum allowable hardness of 35and a maximum allowable hardness of 45 on

22、 the Rockwell 15Tscale when measured according to Test Methods E18.5.3 O-ringsO-rings used on the copper alloy fittings tomake a static seal shall be manufactured from ethylenepropylene rubber (EPDM) or silicone rubber (Si), with a ShoreA durometer between 60 and 70 when tested in accordancewith Spe

23、cification D2240.6. General Requirements6.1 The following sections of Specifications F877 andF2262 constitute a part of this specification.6.1.1 Use with PEX Tubing (F877):6.1.1.1 Requirements,6.1.1.2 Test Methods, and6.1.2 Use with PEX-AL-PEX Tubing (F2262):6.1.2.1 Performance Requirements of Conne

24、ctors exceptproduct marking section.6.1.3 Retest and Rejection.6.2 In addition, when a section with a title identical to thatreferenced in 6.1, appears in this specification, it containsadditional requirements that supplement those appearing inSpecifications F877 and F2262.6.3 DimensionsAny randomly

25、 selected fitting or fittings,and crimp ring or crimp rings, shall be used to determinedimensions. Measurements shall be made in accordance withTest Method D2122, except determine diameters by makingmeasurements at four locations spaced approximately 45 apartaround the circumference. Inspection and

26、gauging of solderjoint ends shall be in accordance with ASME B16.18, ASMEB16.22, or MSS SP-104.6.4 GeneralAll performance tests shall be performed onassemblies of fittings, crimp rings, PEX, and PEX-AL-PEXtubing. Fittings and crimp rings shall meet the material anddimensional requirements of this sp

27、ecification. PEX tubingshall meet the requirements of Specification F876. PEX-AL-PEX tubing shall meet the requirements of SpecificationF2262.Assembly of test specimens shall be in accordance with9.1.1. Use separate sets of assemblies for each performance testrequirement. In addition, fittings shall

28、 be designed with suffi-cient overall dimensions to allow proper use of crimp toolwithout interference with previously completed crimps on thesame fitting.7. Dimensions7.1 Dimensions and TolerancesThe dimensions and toler-ances of fittings and crimp rings shall be as shown in Fig. 1,Fig. 3, Fig. 4,

29、and Table 1, when measured in accordance with6.3.7.1.1 AlignmentThe maximum angular variation of anyopening shall not exceed 1 off the true centerline axis.7.1.2 Fittings with Solder Joint EndsSolder joint endsshall be in accordance with ASME B16.22, ASME B16.18, orMSS SP-104.7.1.3 Tapered Threaded

30、EndsFitting threads shall beright-hand conforming to ASME B1.20.1. They shall be taperthreads (NPT).8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The sealing surfaces of the insert shall be smooth andfree of foreign material. Fitting walls shall be free of cracks,holes, blisters, voids, foreign inclusio

31、ns, or other defects thatare visible to the unaided eye, that affect the wall integrity.9. Assembly9.1 Crimp JointsInsert fittings shall be joined to PEX, orPEX-AL-PEX, tubing by the compression of a copper crimpring around the outer circumference of the tubing, forcing thetubing material into annul

32、ar spaces formed by ribs on thefitting. Insert fittings and crimp rings shall meet the dimen-sional and material requirements of this standard. The dimen-sions and out-of-roundness of the crimp ring, after it has beencrimped, shall be in accordance with Table 1.9.1.1 Crimping ProcedureThe crimping p

33、rocedure shallbe as follows: slide the crimp ring onto the tubing, insert theribbed end of the fitting into the end of the tubing until thetubing contacts the shoulder of the fitting or tube stop. Thecrimp ring shall then be positioned on the tubing so the edge ofthe crimp ring is18 to14 in. (3.2 to

34、 6.4 mm) from the end ofthe tube. The jaws of the crimping tool shall be centered overthe crimp ring and the tool shall be held so that the crimpingF2434 142jaws are approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barb.The jaws of the crimping tool shall be closed around the crimpring, compressing th

35、e crimp ring onto the tubing. The crimpring shall not be crimped more than once. Each crimp shall bechecked to determine conformance to the after-crimped dimen-sional requirements of Table 1.10.
