3、 This specification covers the design, material, and mini-mum performance requirements of resilient connectors usedfor connections between reinforced concrete structures con-forming to Specifications C478 and C913 to annular corrugatedprofile wall high density polyethylene (HDPE) drainage pipeconfor
4、ming to AASHTO M252 or Specification F2306/F2306M.1.1.1 These connectors are designed to provide a positiveseal between the pipe and manholes or other structuressubjected to internal and external hydrostatic pressures lessthan 10.8 psi 74 KPa.1.1.2 Testing under this standard is limited to hydrostat
5、icpressures. Alternate air and vacuum pressure testing involveunique testing protocols and are not addressed under thisstandard.1.1.3 Testing under this standard is conducted in a labora-tory as a proof of design certification. Actual field performancetesting would be accomplished and accepted under
6、 individualproject performance standards or pipeline acceptance criteria,which is outside the scope of this standard.NOTE 1Infiltration or exfiltration quantities for an installed system aredependent upon many factors other than the connections between manholestructures and pipe, and allowable quant

Materials and Manufacture4.1 All materials shall conform to the following require-ments:4.1.1 Resilient materials for connectors and filler rings shallbe manufactured from natural or synthetic rubber and shallconform to the requirements prescribed in Specification F477
21、,Section 6, Low Head Physical Requirements for ElastomericSeals for Plastic Pipe.4.1.2 Low Temperature Brittle Point. Resilient materials forconnectors shall display no fracture at -40F -40C whentested in accordance with Test Method D746.4.1.3 Tear Resistance. Resilient materials for connectorsshall
22、 meet a minimum tear resistance of 200 lbf/in 34 kN/mwhen tested in accordance with Test Method D624 with anicked Die B.4.2 Mechanical DevicesExpansion rings, tension bands,and take-up devices used for mechanically compressing theresilient portion of the connector against the pipe, manhole orstructu
23、re shall be made from a material or materials incombination that will ensure durability, strength, resistance tocorrosion, and have properties that will ensure continuedresistance to leakage. All metallic mechanical devices, includ-ing castings and bolt assemblies used to mechanically deformresilien
24、t materials shall be constructed of corrosion resistantmaterials meeting the physical properties and chemical com-position requirements of Type 300 series within SpecificationsA493 and A666.NOTE 3Experience has shown that successful performance of thisproduct depends on the type of bedding and backf
25、ill and the care in thefield installation of the manhole or structure and connecting pipes. Theowner is cautioned to require inspection at the construction site.5. Principles of Design5.1 The design of the connector shall be such that positiveseal is accomplished at two locations: (1) between the co
26、nnec-tor and the wall of the manhole or structure and (2) between theconnector and the pipe.5.1.1 The seal between the connector and the wall of themanhole or structure shall be made by either mechanicalmeans, compression of the resilient material between theoutside surface of the pipe and the pipe
27、opening in the wall ofthe manhole or structure, or by casting the connector integrallywith the wall of the manhole or structure.5.1.2 The seal between the connector and the pipe shall bemade by mechanical means or by compression of the resilientmaterial against the outside of the pipe.5.1.3 Due to t
28、he corrugated outer wall of the pipe, resilientfiller rings are not prohibited from being used between the pipeand the connector to provide a seal.5.2 The connector shall be capable of maintaining aresilient, hydrostatic seal under the performance conditions inSection 7. Devices used to effect mecha
29、nical seals shallconform to the requirements specified in Section 4.5.3 If so fabricated, all pipe stubs installed to allow forfuture connection to the manhole or structure shall be mechani-cally restrained from movement by means of, and in additionto, the resilient connectors. Movement of these opt
30、ional stubswill affect the results of the test6. Basis of Acceptance6.1 For diameter 36 in. 900 mm and smaller, at least oneconnector shall be tested for each 6 in. 150 mm increment indiameter. For diameters larger than 36 in. 900 mm, at leastone connector shall be tested for each 12 in. 300 mmincre
31、ment in diameter.6.2 The acceptability of the resilient connector shall bedetermined by the results of the physical tests prescribed in thisspecification, if and where required, and by inspection, todetermine whether the connector conforms to the specificationwith regards to design and freedom from
32、defects6.3 When requested, a current certification shall be fur-nished as the basis of acceptance. The certification shall consistof the connector manufacturers test report, or statement by themanufacturer, accompanied by a copy of the test results, thatthe resilient connector has been tested and in
33、spected inaccordance with the provisions of Section 4 and Section 7.Each certification so furnished shall be signed by the connectormanufacturer or an authorized agent, such as an independentprofessional engineer, who has witnessed the testing.NOTE 4Certification shall be deemed current, if it repre
34、sents presentdesign, and bears a date that is no more than five years older than thecurrent date.7. Test Methods and Requirements7.1 Install a pipe(s) and the resilient connector(s) to betested in the base section of a manhole or structure per the pipeand connector manufacturers recommendations. Sub
35、ject theassembly to the prescribed hydrostatic pressure in 7.2 at thecenterline of the connector for a period of 10 min. for each testcondition. Restrain the pipe against axial movement during thetests.NOTE 5The user of this specification is advised that all safetyrequirements and procedures should
36、be reviewed prior to the test.7.2 There shall be no leakage under any of the followingconditions:7.2.1 Straight alignment of the pipe(s) subjected to a hydro-static pressure of 10.8 psi 74 kPa for 10 min.7.2.2 Axial misalignment of the pipe(s). Upon completionof the test in 7.2.1 the pipe(s) shall b
37、e adjusted to provide aminimum angular misalignment of 7 in any direction from theF2510/F2510M 07 (2013)2straight alignment axis and subjected to a hydrostatic pressureof 10.8 psi 74 kPa for 10 min.7.2.3 Deflection of pipe from loading. Upon completion ofthe test in 7.2.2, return pipes to straight a
38、lignment and apply aload to the pipe until the outside diameter of the pipe has beendeflected by 5%. The load shall be applied a distance ofone-half the pipe diameter from the manhole or structure wall.The deflection shall be calculated at the point where the load isapplied. Subject the pipe(s) and
39、structure to a hydrostaticpressure of 10.8 psi 74 kPa for 10 min.NOTE 6The 5% deflection criterion should not be considered as alimitation with respect to in-use deflection.7.2.4 For safety purposes and ease of set-up, pressure is notprohibited from being relieved while deflecting or loading testsec
40、tions.7.3 Leakage shall be construed to mean freely drippingwater emanating at the interface between the connector andbase of the manhole or structure, or the pipe; between theconnector and the filler rings; or through the body of theconnector and the filler rings; or through the body of theconnecto
41、r itself.8. Product Marking8.1 Each connector shall be marked legibly by the connectormanufacturer with their trade name and the size, designation orpart number.8.2 Any additional markings or color designations shall beagreed upon by the pipe and connector supplier.9. Quality Assurance9.1 When the p
42、roduct is marked with this designation,“ASTM F2510”, the manufacturer affirms that the product wasmanufactured, inspected sampled and tested in accordancewith this specification and has been found to meet therequirements of this specification. When specified in thepurchase order or contract, a repor
43、t of the test results shall befurnished.10.
