Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers Schedule 40 CPVCpipe fittings, socket-type, intended for use with Iron Pipe
19、 Size(IPS) outside-diameter plastic pipe.4.1.1 Fittings covered by this specification are normallymolded. In-line fittings, such as couplings, unions, bushings,caps, nipples, and the like, shall be molded or machined fromextruded stock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by backwelding are not included inthis
20、 specification.NOTE 3This specification does not include requirements for pipe andfittings intended to be used to vent combustion gases.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 This specification covers CPVC pipe fittings made fromcompounds meeting the requirements of Class 23447 asdefined in Specification D
21、1784.NOTE 4Mechanical strength, heat resistance, flammability, andchemical resistance requirements are covered in Specification D1784.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specific

Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 Fitting sockets, inside diameters (waterways), mini-mum wall thicknesses, and dimensions shall be as shown inTables 1-4 and when measured in accordance with Test MethodD2122.6.1.2 When multistep reducer bushings are cored out, theinner socket
23、shall be reinforced from the outer wall by aminimum of three ribs extending from the top of the innersocket in the deepest extremity of the coring. The transitionfromDtoDJ(Table 3) shall be straight, tapered as shown, orradiused. A positive taper in the same direction of the taper inthe socket on th
24、e outside diameter of the bushing is optional.6.1.3 The maximum angular variation of any opening shallbe not more than12 off the true centerline axis.6.1.4 The minimum wall thickness of fittings shall be 125 %of the minimum wall thickness of the corresponding size ofSchedule 40 pipe for which they a
25、re designed to be used,except that for the socket, the wall thickness shall be at leastequal to the minimum wall thickness of the corresponding sizeof Schedule 40 pipe. For any threaded transition fitting, theminimum wall thickness of the threaded portion shall be atleast equal to the thickness of m
26、aterial under the thread root ofthreaded Schedule 80 pipe of the same size.6.1.5 The minimum inside diameter of the fittings shall benot less than the minimum specified inside diameter of thecorresponding size of Schedule 40 pipe. Any fitting having amale thread shall have an internal diameter not l
27、arger thanSchedule 80 pipe of the same size.6.1.6 Minimum dimensions have zero negative tolerance.Tolerances on other dimensions are shown in Table 1 and Table3.6.2 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.4.6.3 B
28、urst Pressure:6.3.1 The minimum burst strength of the fittings shall be notless than that calculated for the size and wall thickness of thepipe with which it is to be used, when calculated from thefollowing equation:S 5 P DO2 t!/2twhere:S = hoop stress, psi (or MPa),P = internal pressure, psi (or MP

(or mm).Fittings tested in accordance with 8.5 shall withstand theminimum burst pressure shown in Table 4.6.3.2 Pressures shown are minimum burst pressures and donot imply rated working pressures. The burst pressure sha
30、ll beused only as an indication of quality.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous throughout and freeof cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects. Thefittings shall be as uniform as commercially practicable incolor, opacity, density, and other physical

Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 10 % relative humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the St
32、andard Labora-tory Atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 10 %relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test meth-ods or in this specification.8.3 SamplingA sufficient quantity of fittings as agreedupon between the seller and the purchaser shall be selected atrandom from each lot or
33、 shipment and tested to determine thatthe basic design is in conformance with this specification.NOTE 5For individual orders or specifications where supplementaltests are required, only those tests and numbers of tests specifically agreedupon between the purchaser and the seller need be conducted.8.
34、4 ThreadsAll taper pipe threads shall be gaged inaccordance with Specification F1498.8.5 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressurein accordance with Test Method D1599, Procedure B. Thepressure shall be applied at a uniform rate such that theminimum allowable burst pressure is attained in 60
