、 AMERICAN NATIONAL STANDARD FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS ATIS-1000637.1999(R2015) B-ISDN ATM Adaptation Layer Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP) As a leading technology and solutions development organization, ATIS brings together the top global ICT companies to advance the industrys mos

、t-pressing business priorities. Through ATIS committees and forums, nearly 200 companies address cloud services, device solutions, emergency services, M2M communications, cyber security, ehealth, network evolution, quality of service, billing support, operations, and more. These priorities follow a

、Layer (AAL). This protocol, called the Service SpecificConnection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP), provides assured data delivery betweenAAL connection endpoints. The ATM Adaptation Layer (AAL) is defined as enhancing the services provided bythe ATM layer to support the functions required by the next highe

、r layer. DifferentAALs support various protocols to suit the different needs of a range of AAL serviceusers. One particular type of AAL service user is the signaling entity wishing to com-municate with a peer entity. The signaling AAL (SAAL) comprises AAL functions nec-essary to support such a signa

、ling entity. The structure of the SAAL is defined inT1.636-1999. The SSCOP has been defined to provide functions required in theSAAL.The SAAL is a combination of two sublayers: a common part and a service specificpart. The common part protocol is defined in ITU-T Recommendation I.363.5. Theservice s

、pecific part is also known as the Service Specific Convergence Sublayer(SSCS). In the SAAL, the SSCS itself is functionally divided into the SSCOP and aService Specific Coordination Function (SSCF), which maps the services provided bythe SSCOP to the needs of the user of the SAAL. This structure all

Twosuch SSCFs, one for signaling at the User Network Interface (UNI) and one for sig-naling at the Network to Network Interfac

、e (NNI), have been defined in ITU-T Recom-mendations Q.2130 and Q.2140, respectively. It is also possible to define additionalSSCFs over the common SSCOP to provide different AAL services. The SSCOP is a peer-to-peer protocol that provides the following functions:- transfer of user data with sequence
