IntroductionThe American Welding Society (AWS) Board of Direc-tors has adopted a policy whereby all official interpreta-tions of AWS standards are handled in a formal manner.Under this policy, all interpretations are made by thecommittee that is responsible for the standard. Officialco
36、mmunication concerning an interpretation is directedthrough the AWS staff member who works with thatcommittee. The policy requires that all requests for aninterpretation be submitted in writing. Such requests willbe handled as expeditiously as possible, but due to thecomplexity of the work and the p

Thepurpose can be to obtain an interpretation of a standardsrequirement or to request the revision of a particularprovision in the standard.A2.3 Content of the Inquiry. The

The inquirer should, as a pro-posed reply, state an interpretation of the provision thatis the point of the inquiry or provide the wording for aproposed revision, if this is what the inquirer seeks.A3.
43、 Interpretation of Provisions of the StandardInterpretations of provisions of the standard are made bythe relevant AWS technical committee.
