As an alternative, the oxygen content of the purge zone shall be 1% or less, as measured with an OxygenAnalyzer, prior to weld

Weld metal and adjacent surfaces shall be cleaned prior todepositing subsequent passes or layers and upon completion

44、 of the weld.Backgouging: Mechanical or thermal when used. Before applying weld metal on the reverseside of double-welded joints, the joint shall be (1) prepared for welding bychipping, grinding, machining, or arc gouging to remove all unsound metaland (2) contoured for access and cleaned, and inspe

45、cted per NAVSEATechnical Publication T9074-AS-GIB-010/271, Requirements forNondestructive Testing Methods, to assure a sound weld.Single or Multiple Passes: Either.
