、BHMA A156.20) The general classification of builders hardware includes a wide variety of items which are divided into several categories. To recognize this diversity, a sectional classification system has been established. Strap and Tee Hinges, and Hasps is one such section and this Standard is the
、result of the collective efforts of members of the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association, Inc. who manufacture this product. The total Product Standards effort is, therefore, a collection of sections, each covering a specific category of items. The BHMA recognizes that errors will be found, it
、ems will become obsolete, and new products, methods and materials will be developed. With this in mind, the Association plans to update, correct and revise these Standards on a regular basis. In most cases, products have been described in grade levels related to their durability. Grade classificatio
、ns indicate levels only within their own product categories. Choice of grade and specific product are made on the basis of utility, aesthetics, security objectives and end use desired. The BHMA numbers which indicate types and functions of hardware do not identify size or finish and are not intended

、 the following manner. 5.2 Door position. Measure the horizontal position of the door at the top hinge, using the dial indicator, with the door in the closed position. 5.3 Add test weight. Add the test weight, as indicated in the chart for the hinge, at the outer edge of the door. 5.4 Open and close
、 door. Open the door to the 90 degree open position and return to the closed position. 5.5 Remove the test weight. 5.6 Re-measure door position. Measure the horizontal position of the door as in 5.2. The difference between the two measurements is the horizontal set of the door (or lateral shift). 6.
、 STRENGTH TEST FOR HASPS 6.1 Mounting. The hasp shall be mounted in the closed position on a steel plate using machine screws of a size equivalent to the fasteners provided with the hasp. The hasp, except key locking type, shall be fastened with a padlock having a shackle with a nominal diameter of
、0.250 in (6.4 mm). 6.2 Fixed or Adjustable Staple Torque Resistance 6.2.1 A torque measuring device shall be applied to the staple in a plane parallel to the mounting surface. The torque shall be applied gradually using a nominal 0.375 in (9.5 mm) diameter hardened steel rod and sustained for a peri
、od of 30 seconds. If staple opening does not accommodate both padlock hasp and torque rod, torque shall be applied by inserting torque rod through locked padlock shackle throat. Users of this Standard correlate corrosion resistance with the third digit in the specified product type number as shown in 8.4 and the salt spray exposure time in 7.2. A-6 GRADES Users of this Standard select product as to grade desired. Grade designation is based on performance criteria with grade 1 subject to the severest test.
