It is the result of years ofexperience in the manufacture, testing, installation, maintenanc

31、e, inspection and research on vented gasfireplace heaters designed for utilization of gas. There are risks of injury to persons inherent inappliances that, if completely eliminated, would defeat the utility of the appliance. The provisions in thisstandard are intended to help reduce such risks while

32、 retaining the normal operation of the appliance.Nothing in this standard is to be considered in any way as indicating a measure ofquality beyond compliance with the provisions it contains. It is designed to allow compliance of ventedgas fireplace heaters, the safety construction and performance of

33、which may exceed the variousprovisions specified herein. In its preparation, recognition has been given to possibilities of improvementthrough ingenuity of design. As progress takes place, revisions may become necessary. When they arebelieved desirable, recommendations or suggestions should be forwa

42、onJanuary 2, 1988, significant attention was givento the harmonization of the United States andCanadian safety standards addressing gas-firedequipment for residential, commercial andindustrial applications. It was believed that theelimination of the differences between thestandards would remove pote

43、ntial trade barriersand provide an atmosphere in which NorthAmerican manufacturers could market morefreely in the United States and Canada. Theharmonization of these standards was also seenas a step toward harmonization withinternational standards. Joint subcommitteeswere established to facilitate t

44、he standardsharmonization process between the United Statesand Canada.At its August 22, 1995 meeting, the Z21Subcommittee on Standards for Domestic GasConversion Burners reviewed a draft by-nationalstandard for gas conversion burners which wassubsequently distributed for review andcomment December 1

45、995.The first draft harmonized standard wasbased on current coverage form the AmericanNational Standard for Domestic Gas ConversionBurners, ANSI Z21.17-1991, Addenda ANSIZ21.17a-1993 and Addenda ANSI Z21.17b-1994,plus the National Standard of Canada forDomestic Gas Conversion Burners,CAN/CGA 2.7-M86

46、.Following reconsideration and modification ofthe proposed draft standard, in light ofcomments received, the domestic gas conversionburner subcommittee by letter ballot datedNovember 15, 1997 recommended the proposeddraft standard to Accredited StandardsCommittee Z21/83 and the (Interim CSA)Standard

47、s Steering Committee for approval.The proposed draft of the harmonizedstandard for gas conversion burners, as modifiedby the subcommittee, was approved by theZ21/83 Committee by letter ballot datedFebruary 26, 1998, and by the (Interim CSA)Standards Steering Committee by letter ballotdated August 6,
