34、erial contained therein intothe existing base standard and its amendments to form the comprehensive standard.This amendment specifies changes to IEEE Std 802.1Q that specifies a replacement for the GARP, GMRP,and GVRP protocols. Changes are applied to the base text of IEEE Std 802.1Q-2005 as modifie

35、d by IEEEStd 802.1adTM-2006. Text shown in bold italics in this amendment defines the editing instructions necessaryto changes to this base text. Three editing instructions are used: change, delete, and insert. Change is usedto make a change to existing material. The editing instruction specifies th

36、e location of the change anddescribes what is being changed. Changes to existing text may be clarified using strikeout markings toindicate removal of old material, and underscore markings to indicate addition of new material). Deleteremoves existing material. Insert adds new material without changin

37、g the existing material. Insertions mayrequire renumbering. If so, renumbering instructions are given in the editing instruction. Editorial notes willnot be carried over into future editions of IEEE Std. 802.1Q.1. Overview1.1 ScopeInsert the following text at the end of this subclause, renumbering t

38、he list items appropriately:In addition, this standard specifies protocols, procedures, and managed objects to support the MultipleRegistration Protocol (MRP). MRP allows participants in an MRP Application to register attributes withother participants in a Bridged Local Area Network. Two application

39、s are definedone to register VLANsMultiple VLAN Registration Protocol (MVRP) and one to register MAC addresses Multiple MACRegistration Protocol (MMRP). MVRP will furthermore provide for the rapid healing of network failureswithout interrupting services to unaffected VLANs. To this end, it specifies

40、 the following:a) MRP and the operation of the MRP protocol entities.1, 2b) The generic frame formats used in MRP protocol exchanges.1MRP replaces the Generic Attribute Registration Protocol (GARP), defined in IEEE Std 802.1D, that was used to support GVRP andGMRP in earlier revisions of IEEE Std 80

Similarly, GVRP and GMRP are replaced by MVRP and MMRP respectively.2As a result of the protocol changes described in this amendment, corresponding changes will be required in the managed objects andSNMP MIB modules, to reflect the fact that GARP, GMRP, and GVRP functionality are replaced by M
