28、 platform. 3.2 Anti-Rotational Device A device attached or formed to the pole below ground level to ensure the pole does not twist once installed and in service. 3.3 Arm A structural member, approximately perpendicular to a pole that supports a luminaire. 3.4 Bolt Circle The diameter of a circle tha

29、t will intersect the centerline of the anchor bolts that are spaced equal distance to each other. ANSI C136.45-2011 (R2016) Page 2 2017 National Electrical Manufacturers Association 3.5 Direct Burial A term used to refer to a pole designed to be supported by surrounding earth or other material. 3.6

30、Effective Projected Area (EPA) Maximum projected area of an object multiplied by a drag coefficient (Cd) for the specific shape of the object. 3.7 Handhole A covered opening in the pole, the axis of which is perpendicular to the axis of the pole, located above ground level, that provides access to i

31、nternal wiring and splices. 3.8 Lighting Pole Assembly intended for supporting luminaires. 3.9 Luminaire A complete lighting unit consisting of a lamp or lamps together with the parts designed to distribute the light, to position and protect the lamp(s), and to connect the lamp(s) to the power suppl

32、y. 3.10 Luminaire Mounting Height The vertical distance between ground level and the center of the attachment point in a post top or arm-mounted luminaire. 3.11 Shaft The vertical portion of the pole before installing luminaire(s) or arm(s). 3.12 Slip Fitter A cylindrical receptacle in the base of a

33、 luminaire that engages a pole top tenon, or the end of an arm. 3.13 Tenon A metal sleeve, cylinder, or other device permanently secured to, formed to, or fitted to the top of the pole or the arm that inserts into the base (or slip fitter) of a luminaire. 3.14 Wire Entry Holes An opening in a pole,

34、the axis of which is perpendicular to the axis of the pole, located below ground level, that provides passage of below ground service wiring into pole cavity. 4 General Considerations 4.1 In order that the pole manufacturer may ensure the necessary pole strength for a specific application, the user

35、should provide the following information: a) Type of pole mountinganchor base or direct burial. If anchor base foundation exists, specify bolt circle, bolt diameter, bolt projection, and bolt pattern b) The mounting height c) Support arms: length, weight, effective projected area (EPA), attachment d

36、etail, diameter and length of tenon (1 in. or 2 in. National Pipe Size (NPS), and position on pole ANSI C136.45-2011 (R2016) Page 3 2017 National Electrical Manufacturers Association d) The weight and EPA of the luminaire(s) and other attachments e) Wind velocity at location where pole will be insta

37、lled. If velocity is unknown, see AASHTO LTS (All calculations to include an applicable Gust Coefficient or Gust Effect Factor) f) Any additional load that may be applied to the pole g) Applicable local or states codes, if different from national codes h) The number, size, and location of any access

38、 openings i) The color and finish of the pole j) Other custom features k) Height above ground line to bottom of shaft 4.2 The pole manufacturer shall determine the length of the shaft or shaft/arm rise combination that will achieve the users required mounting height above grade, unless the user spec

39、ifies otherwise. 5 Shafts 5.1 Diameter and Wall Thickness of Shafts Pole shafts shall be aluminum of diameter and wall thickness required to meet or exceed the performance requirements set forth in Section 9 of this standard. 5.2 Direct-Burial Poles 5.2.1 Poles for post topmounted luminaires can be

40、provided with an anti-rotational feature when specified by the user. 5.2.2 Poles with arm(s) shall be provided with an anti-rotational feature. 5.2.3 Poles shall have a minimum embed depth of 10% of mounting height + 609 mm (2-0”) or as determined by loading and soil conditions or as specified by th

41、e user. The user should be aware of unusual or poor soil conditions and higher than normal EPA loadings that may require greater burial depths. 5.3 Anchor Base Poles 5.3.1 Poles designed to be mechanically fastened to a foundation shall be provided with a cast or fabricated anchor base. 5.3.2 The an

42、chor base shall have three or four radial slots, or oversized round holes, to accommodate anchor bolts on the bolt circle diameter. 5.4 Poles for Post Top Luminaires These poles shall be provided with a permanently affixed vertical tenon in accordance with ANSI C136.3 or ANSI C136.21, or an appropri

43、ate pole top diameter to accommodate fixture slip fitter. 5.5 Poles with Arm Application The pole shall be provided with a removable cap to close the top of the shaft. The cap shall remain in place when subjected to maximum wind loads for which the pole is designed. 6 Bolt Circles Bolt circles shall

44、 be based on the required loading, pole size, or as specified by the user. ANSI C136.45-2011 (R2016) Page 4 2017 National Electrical Manufacturers Association 7 Luminaire Support Arms The style shall be as specified by the user and the strength requirements shall meet or exceed those set forth in Se

45、ction 9 of this standard, or as otherwise specified by the user. 8 Wiring and Wiring Access 8.1 Wiring 8.1.1 Poles shall permit complete internal wiring from an underground source, unless otherwise specified by the user. 8.1.2 The pole shaft shall have internal clearance or a raceway free of obstruc

46、tion and sharp edges for the entire length. The design shall permit installation of supply conductors without damage. 8.1.3 The pole shaft shall contain an internal lug or other feature for the purpose of attaching a ground connector. 8.2 Wiring Access 8.2.1 The edges of wire entrance holes and hand

47、holes shall be smooth and free from burrs. 8.2.2 For embedded poles, a wire entrance hole with a minimum diameter of 31.7 mm (1 in.) shall be located 457.2 mm (18 in.) below the ground line in line with the handhole, or as specified by the user. 8.2.3 When specified by the user, poles shall have a c

48、overed handhole of adequate size to provide access to wiring, and not reduce the strength of the poles to levels below design loads calculated per Section 9. Handholes shall be a minimum of 51 mm (2.0 in.) x 102 mm (4 in.). 8.2.4 The vertical location of handholes shall be located at a minimum of 30

49、4.8 mm (12 in.) above the base, or ground line. 8.2.5 The radial location of handholes shall be as specified by the user. 8.2.6 The handhole cover shall be secured with sufficient rigidity to tightly lock the handhole cover onto the pole. 9 Performance 9.1 Physical 9.1.1 The pole assembly, with specified luminaire(s) and arm(s) installed, shall be designed and manufactured to meet the requirements of the latest AASHTO LTS edition, unless specified otherwise by the customer. 10 Breakaway Supports Breakaway supports, when specified by the user, shall be designed t
