12、 devices, four measurement conditions are allowed as specified in Table 1. The letter Y refers to restricted and the letter “o“ refers to overfilled. Measurement Conditions for Multimode Branching Devices 5.1.1.1 Method 1 (Cutback) - Class A Branching Device 1) The selected input and output ports of the BD are connected to the measurement setup as shown in Figure 7. Refer to 3.2.2.1. The lengths of the input por
14、t (Ll) and output port (L2) shall be specified in the Detail Specification, but shall be sufficiently short that the signal attenuation over the stated lengths is insignificant by comparison to the insertion loss of the BD. To avoid measurement errors, the fiber ends at the TJ shall not be displaced
15、 during the measurement process of Pl(h) . The power Pl(h) at the detector(D) is then recorded for each wavelength of interest. The power level shall be repeatable when the fiber is withdrawn and recoupled to the detector. 2) After ensuring that the measurement of Pl(h) is sufficiently stable, the f
16、iber between the TJ and the BD is cut as shown in Figure 8. Also, if a high order mode filter was initially placed on
18、 the input port, it shall also be included and remain undisturbed in the cutback section (Ll). 3) The BD and its pigtail fibers are removed from the test setup. The free end of the fiber, which was connected to the input port, is then coupled to the detector as shown in Figure 9. 4) The power Po for
