24、ation Layer subprofiles that operate in conjunction with the Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) Network lower layer subprofiles to provide services that meet the CDPD Service Provider requirements. The primary reference for this Part is the Industry/Government Open System Specification IGOSS-1. The

25、 primary reference for the protocols in this Part is the Stable Implementation Agreements for Open Systems Interconnection Protocols OIW-1.1.1 Application Service Elements (ASEs)Application Service Elements (ASEs) provide common Application Layer services that allow the exchange of information among

26、 application processes within one or more of the application sub-profiles. The ASEs used by one or more of the CDPD Service Provider Network applications are described in the following subsections.1.1.1 Association Control Service Element (ACSE)The Association Control Service Element (ACSE) ISO-8650

27、 controls the association between two Application Entities; it is responsible for establishing and releasing an association. 29、to invoke a remote operation on another computer, to have the result of the operation or an error message returned to the invoker, or to have the remote operation rejected as invalid. ROSE ISO-9072-2 may be used by the Common Management Information Protocol and the CCITT 1988 Message Handling System

30、s. 1.1.3 Reliable Transfer Service Element (RTSE)The Reliable Transfer Service Element (RTSE) provides the facilities to reliably transfer large amounts of data between distributed application processes. RTSE uses the Activity and Minor-synchronize functional units of the session layer to set checkp

31、oints in a large data string so that data transfer may be restarted at a convenient point if the underlying network connection breaks. RTSE ISO-9066-2 is optionally used by the CCITT 1988 Message Handling Systems application.2 Network ManagementThe CDPD Network Management application provides system

32、 monitoring and operation functions of the CDPD Network. Each CDPD Network element is managed through the use of cooperating ISO network management conformant applications. The upper layer CDPD Network Management applications are specified in Part 700 through Part 751. Network Management interchange

33、s between peer management entities are conducted through ISO conformant CDPD Common Management Information Services ISO-9596-1. A user may be an originator (sender of mes

40、sage) or a recipient (message receiver). A user may be a person or a computer process. User Agent (UA): UA is an application process that interacts with the MTS or a message store (MS) to submit messages on behalf of a user.Message Transfer System (MTS): The MTS delivers the messages submitted to it

41、, to one or more recipient UAs, access units (AU) or MSs, and may return notifications to the originator.Message Transfer Agents (MTA): The MTA operate together in a store and forward manner to transfer messages and deliver them to the intended recipients.Message Store (MS): The message store acts a

42、s an intermediary between the UA and MTA. Its primary purpose is to store and permit retrieval of delivered messages. The CDPD Message Handling Systems (MHSs) shall be implemented in accordance with the CCITT 1988 MHS Recommendations. Such MHSs provide significant additional services that are not fo

43、und in CCITT 1984 MHS implementations. The CCITT 1988 Recommendations also allow users significant flexibility in configuring their systems.The CDPD-MTS elements cooperate through communications using the two subprofiles. These are the MTS Reliable Transfer Application subprofile and the MTS Reliabl
