When TIA-470-B was revised, the requirements wer

、e divided into sub documents and ANSI/TIA-470.230-C was published with the requirements for the Network Signaling Performance Requirements for Analog Telephones. This current revision broadens the Scope to indicate the document covers network signaling requirements for analog telephones and devices

、that may be connected to Analog Terminal Adapters (ATAs) and Voice Gateways (VGs) in addition to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The document structure and references were also updated, but no technical changes were made to the signaling requirements. ANSI/TIA-PN-470.230-D 1 TELEPHONE

、TERMINAL EQUIPMENT NETWORK SIGNALING PERFORMANCE 1 REQUIREMENTS FOR ANALOG TELEPHONES 2 3 1 SCOPE 4 This standard establishes criteria and procedures for evaluating the DTMF, Pulse Dial, and Flash network 5 signaling performance of analog telephones and terminals. Such equipment may be connected to

、the 6 Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to provide traditional narrowband (300 to 3300 Hz) wireline 7 telephone service. It may also be connected to Analog Terminal Adapters (ATAs) and Voice Gateways 8 (VGs) that provide packet-based services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), some

、of which are 9 capable of supporting wideband (100 to 7000 Hz) voice transmission. 10 These requirements should ensure compatibility and satisfactory performance to the user in a high 11 percentage of installations. 12 13 ANSI/TIA-PN-470.230-D 2 2 NORMATIVE REFERENCES 14 The following standards cont

All standards are subject to 16 revision, and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of

、 17 applying the most recent editions of the standards indicated below. ANSI and TIA maintain registers of 18 currently valid national standards published by them. 19 20 1. 44、e following definitions apply. 28 Analog Terminal Adaptor (ATA): A device with analog telephone ports for the connection of analog 29 telephone equipment via in-house wiring. (470.110-E draft) 30 Central Office Used broadly to describe the switch connected to a subscribers line. 31 Electrical and Ac

、oustical Units: The following units are used in this standard: 32 dBm Power level in decibels, relative to a power of 1 mW (milliwatt). 33 dBV Voltage level in decibels, relative to 1 volt rms. 34 dBPa: Sound pressure level in decibels, relative to a sound pressure of 1 Pa 35 (pascal). 36 Free Field

、: Sound field in a homogenous, isotropic medium free from boundaries. In 37 practice, the effects of boundaries on a free field are negligible over the region of 38 interest. 39 Line State: The condition of the Tip and Ring interface. It can be either In-Use or Idle. 40 Off-Hook: The state of the DU

、T when the hook-switch is closed. This refers to the state of a 41 particular DUT rather than the line state. 42 On-Hook: The state of the DUT when the hook-switch is open. This refers to the state of a 43 particular DUT rather than the line state. 44 Pulse Dial Intervals: The following are used in

、this standard: 45 Break Interval In pulse dialing, that portion of the dial pulse in which the DUT is 46 momentarily in an on-hook state. 47 Make Interval In pulse dialing, that portion of the dial pulse in which the DUT is 48 momentarily in an off-hook state. 49 Inter-Digit Interval The time period

、 between Pulse or DTMF digits during buffered or 50 memory dialing. 51 Reference Triangle The Reference Triangle is the physical dimensions for the placement of the 52 measuring microphone face from the device. The dimensions are 40cm 53 horizontal, 30cm vertical, which provides a distance of 50 cm to the device. See 54 ANSI/TIA-470.120-D. 55 Voice Gateway: A device that routes packetized voice from one end-point to another and may 56 provide additional functions such as voice coding, compression, and echo 57 cancellation. 58 ANSI/TIA-P
