23、rvice (WMT) 1 Wireless Messaging Teleservice (WMT) The Wireless Messaging Teleservice (WMT) conveys and manages short messages to a Short Message Entity (SME) for display, storage, or both. Upper case, lower case, accented, and unaccented characters are supported. Control characters, such as tab, en

24、d-of-line, carriage return, and backspace should also be supported. This teleservice should coordinate the use of the display and arbitrate between conflicting users or services. Terminal mechanisms should be provided for viewing messages too large to be viewed at once. Terminal mechanisms should be

25、 provided for displaying of multiple messages. Terminal mechanisms may allow storing, retrieving, and deleting messages. These mechanisms may be automated or require some manual intervention. The alphanumeric display may support any or all of the following character sets: ITU T.50 International Refe

26、rence Alphabet (IRA) (formerly International Alphabet No. 5, or IA5) ISO 8859 Information Processing - 8-bit single octet coded graphic character sets ISO 10646 Universal Multiple-Octet Coded Character Set (UCS), Basic Multilingual Plane only IS-90 Extended Protocol Message (TIA/EIA/IS-90 Section 3.

27、7.1 and TIA/EIA/IS-90 Appendix B) Shift-JIS variable 1-2 byte nonmodal encoding for Kanji, Kana, and Latin character sets defined in JIS X0201 and JIS X0206 KS X 1001:1998 variable 1-2 byte encoding method used in Korea If the alphanumeric display supports multiple character sets, then the alphanume

28、ric display should be able to accommodate more than one character set in a message. If the MS does not support a character set specified by the transmitting network, an indication shall be presented to the user that the Short Message information was available, but was presented in an unsupported cha

29、racter set. For messages requiring immediate delivery only one message delivery attempt is made per service request. For messages not requiring immediate delivery, one or more delivery attempts are made until an acknowledgment is received. Each message includes attributes for management of the messa

30、ges received by the SME. These attributes include the following: WMT Message Type The WMT Message Type attribute identifies the basic type of message as: a. A teleservice request. b. An acknowledgment of the delivery of a teleservice request (DAK). c. A manual acknowledgment (MAK) of a teleservice r

32、rious teleservice acknowledgment options, including: a. Manual acknowledgment (MAK) requested. b. Delivery acknowledgment (DAK) requested. The teleservice acknowledgment requests are independent of each other and may be selected on a per teleservice basis as well as a per message basis. It is possib

33、le to request no teleservice acknowledgments. Manual acknowledgment is sent when requested to the originating SME by the destination application or teleservice when the destination user (not the destination SME) manually acknowledges the message. Delivery acknowledgment is sent when requested to the

34、 originating SME by the network to the originating SME when the message was delivered to the destination SME. User Data The User Data attribute contains the body of the message being conveyed. User Response Code The User Response Code attribute contains a numeric value corresponding to a user respon

35、se. The User Response Code consists of four bits. Message Encoding Version number of the protocol, an alphabet identifier, and handling requested for control characters. Message Updating Optional Some messages can update previous versions of the same message, such as delivery notifications or inform

36、ation distribution. Messages may contain an attribute to indicate recommended update treatment: Update (overwrite the previously received message using the same bearer service Message Identifier) New (do not overwrite previously received messages) Message Identifier Optional Each message may contain

37、 a Message Identifier. This allows for association of manual and delivery acknowledgment messages with the initial request message. This identifier may also be used by some teleservices to overwrite or update messages with similar information. The Message Identifier is unique to a message originator

38、-destination pair. The identifier should be 16 bits. Validity Period Optional Some messages can be valuable for a long time, while others are valuable for only a short time. 40、message pending delivery. This attribute has the following values: Indefinite (For an MS, message should be retained until manually deleted by the recipient. For a store-and-forward service, message should be retained until delivered). Definite (message should be retained for the indicated period of

41、 time between one minute to one month). Power down (message should be retained until the MS is powered down). Registration area (message should be retained until the mobile leaves the current registration area). No retention (message should be delivered immediately and need not be retained). Message

42、s at the Message Center may be deleted for administrative reasons. Priority Indicator Optional Some messages are more important than others especially when contending for the display. The priority indicator allows the SME to manage the messages that it receives. The following is a list of the priori

43、ty indications: Emergencymessage sent for a situation where life or property are in immediate danger. Urgentmessage requires an immediate reply. Interactivemessage sent in response to callers activity (advice of charging, call progress messages, etc.). Those messages, which are generated and deliver

44、ed as the normal course of call processing, are beyond the scope of this description. Interactive messages may also include messages from dial up information retrieval services. Normalmessage sent without priority. Emergency messages shall take priority over all other types. SMEs may implement local

45、 prioritization of incoming messages based on calling party address or other criteria. Alert on Message Delivery Optional This indication allows a message to request audible alerting (vibrating or other annunciation at the MS option). This option may simulate pagers. Message Center Time Stamp Option

46、al Some messages may include a Message Center Time Stamp to inform the recipient of the Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and date that the message was accepted by the destination Message Center (MC). Language Indicator Optional The language of the message is indicated so that the receiving MS can di

47、scard those messages that are not in the MSs preferred language. 48、 Indicator Optional The Privacy Indicator attribute contains an indication as to the privacy of the information being conveyed. Its usage is application dependent. It has the following values: Unrestricted Restricted Confidential Secret Display Indicator (Optional) Messages may include a Display Ind

49、icator attribute that may identify display handling requirements. The values of the Display Indicator are: Display the message until the Validity Period expires or the message is updated. Store the message without display unless retrieved by the recipient. Deferred Delivery Time Optional Each message may contain a Deferred Delivery Time attribute. This time may be used to delay the delivery of a message. The time may be specified as a relative time (delay for a period of hours, minutes, or seco
