SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 1.1 rubber lat

The protector shall have a 1-1/8 inches square hub with one arm extending from each corner of the hub. Two of the arms from corners on the same side of the hub shall be 8-1/2 inches long, the ot
3、her two arms shall be 8-3/4 inches long. The length shall be measured from the center of the hub to the tip of the arm. Each arm shall have three slotted rubber caps that will fit over the prongs of the crampons. One of the caps shall form the end of each arm. The remaining two caps on each 8-1/2 in
4、ch arm shall be located 2-5/16 inches and 5-11/16 inches from the center of the hub to the center of the cap. The remaining two caps on each 8-3/4 inch arm shall be located 2- 15/16 and 5-7/8 inches from the center of the hub to the center of the cap. The slot in each cap shall be 1-3/16 inch deep,
5、1/2 inch long, 3/32 inch wide, and shall be orientated to be compatible with the prongs of the hinged crampons conforming to A-A-50117. The above dimensions are nominal. The protectors shall be black in color and furnished in pairs. Maximum weight per pair shall be 7 ounces. Design and construction.

The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating
8、evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of su
9、ch conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 2.2 Visual examination. Each lot of protectors shall be inspected in accordance with MIL-STD-105. The inspection level shall be II and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expr
10、essed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 4.0, The lot size shall be expressed in units of protectors. The sample unit shall be one protector. The protectors shall be examined for the defects listed below: Material not as specified; color not as specified; weight not as specified; not fr
11、ee from rips or tears, molding voids and molding flash; markings in wrong location, incomplete, illegible, incomplete or not as specified, 2-3 Dimensional examination. The protectors shall be examined without damaging or disassembling the protectors. Any dimension not within the specified tolerances
12、 shall be classified as a defect. The lot size shall be expressed in units of protectors The sample unit shall be one protector. The inspection level shall be S-3 and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5. 3. PACKAGING 3.1 Packaging. The unit pack shall be snug-fitti
13、ng and fabricated from clear polyethylene film that is heat sealed on at least three sides and closed on the fourth side, Crampon protectors shall be packaged one pair to a unit pack. 3.2 Packing. Forty eight pair of crampon protectors, packaged as specified, shall be packed in a close-f itting RSC
14、style corrugated fiberboard shipping container conforming to type CF, class domestic, grade 200 of PPP-B-636. The shipping container shall be completely filled with no voids and of a size that can be palletized in accordance with MIL-STD-147. Each shipping container shall be closed in accordance wit
15、h the appendix of PPP-B-636. 3.3 Palletization. When specified (see 4.2), crampon protectors, packed as specified, shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps with bonding means C and
16、 D, or film bonding means F or D, in accordance with MIL-STD-147. 3.4 purchase order, unit packs, shipping containers and palletized unit loads shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
