Abstract. This carmercial item description covers two types of
2、 polypropylene fabric sandbags and for use in field fortifications, breast works, revetments, personnel shelters, arrmunition bunkers, arld gun emplacements where a high degree of biodeterioration resistance is required. The polypropylene sandbags are not recamended for temporary flood control where
3、 easy destruction and rapid deterioration of bag fabric:s are desired after flood danger has passed. 1. Salient characteristics l. 1 Desiqn and construction. The fabric for sandbags shall be woven from yarns made of 0.003-inch-thick filaments, ribbons, or cmbinations. The yarn shall be cyrstalline o
4、r isotactic polypropylene or copolymers thereof in which the canonmer content does not exceed 10 percent;. The fabric shall have a minimum weight of 3.7 ounces per square yard. The sandbags shall have ncrninal inside dimensions of 26 _+ 1-1/4 inches long and 14 _+ 1/2 inches wide. The sandbags shall
5、 be of the types and colors indicated in 1.2. 1.2 Classification. The sandbags shall be free of holes, tears, punctures, and e other defects which may affa serviceability. The sandbags shall be both dry and flexible and shall be uniform in appea
8、rance. Individual bags shall be uniform in color. The seams shall be straight and even. 2. QUALITY AssuRANa I f 2.1 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this cmrcial
9、item description, and that the product confom to the producers m drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government resemes the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of
10、 the contracts. 2.2 Metric products. products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch” units, provided they fall within the tolerances specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard No. 376, and
11、 all other requirements of this cmrcial item description are met. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch-pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable. The contrac
12、ting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product. 2.3 Rew;.atorv remirementS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recoverec mterials in accordance with public Law 94-580 to the maxjmum extent possible. 2.4 Drop resistance test. Fill the sandbag with 44 pounds f 1/2 pound (ap
13、proximately 760 cubic inches) of clean, dry sand and hot the tie string firmly about the choke. Adjust the contents of the bag to form a shape about 4 inches by 10 inches by 20 inches before each drop. Drop the bag (free fall) from a height of 48 inches on one face, on one side seam or the folded ar
14、ea where a seam would normally be located on a tubular bag, and on the butt onto a hard, unyielding surface such as stone or concrete of sufficient mass to absorb the shock without deflection. Every fourth sandbag tested shall be dmppd (free fall) on the tied (choke) end in lieu of the butt drop. Af
15、ter each drop, the sandbag shall be examined for visible evidence of damage such as tears, punctures, broken yarns or thread, or exposure of the contents by any means other than sifting. Slight slippage or yawning in the seams shall not be considered damage. Visible evidence of damage shall constitu
16、te failure of this test. 3. PAI=KAGING 3.1 Overseas. 3.1.1 Packaainq. One hundred sandbags shall 2 be bundled. 17、The and tied. 3.1.3 Palletization. Bales shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type XV of MIL+7“147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary bonding means C and D or film boncting means F or G. 3.1.4 Wkinq. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-SE-129. 3.2 Dom
18、estic. 3.2.1 Preservation, wckaqinq, packinq, labelinq, ancl markinq. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and mking shall be in accordance with AS“ D 3951. 4. NurEs 4.1 Amisition requirements. Acquisition documents must specify the following: (a) Title, numkr, and date of this document. (b)
