3、MMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION GUARD, ROADWAY CROSSING (METRIC) The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description (CID) for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This CID covers a roadway crossing guard made of sheet steel to be used with a 102 millimeter (mm) (4 in

4、ch (in.), lightweight, collapsible hoseline system. 2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 2.1 Material. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), material shall be sheet steel in accordance with ASTM A1008/A1008M or A1011/A1011M. Material not specified shall be selected by the contractor and shall be subject to al

5、l provisions of this specification. 2.1.1 Material deterioration prevention and control. The guard shall be fabricated from compatible materials, inherently corrosion resistant or treated to provide protection against the various forms of corrosion and deterioration that may be encountered in any of

6、 the applicable operating and storage environments. 2.1.2 Dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals shall not be used in intimate contact with each other unless protected against galvanic corrosion. 2.2 Design and construction. Guards shall be as specified in figure 1. 2.2.1 Performance. Provided by IHSN

Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.2), the guard shall be cleaned, treated and painted in accordance with the contractors commercial practice. 2.3 Id

8、entification and markings. Identification and markings of the guard shall be permanent and legible and shall include, as a minimum, the manufacturers identification code (CAGE), the contract number, the part identification number (PIN) AA52559-1 (see 6.2), and the national stock number (NSN). 3. REG

9、ULATORY REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Recovered material. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 10、he offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. The contractor is responsible for the performance of a

11、ll inspections (examinations and tests). 4.2 Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this CID and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, workmanship sta

12、ndards, and quality assurance practices. Items with known defects shall not be submitted for Government acceptance. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.

13、 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). Guards conforming to this CID are interchangeable/substitutable with guards conforming to MIL-G-52346C. 6.4 Thickness of guard. Thicknes

19、s of the guard was increased to 1.6 mm (0.063 in.) from 1.524 mm (0.060 in.) to conform to metric size standards. 6.5 Part identification number (PIN). The following PIN procedure is for government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor. This example describes a part numbe

20、ring system for the commercial item description A-A-52559. The PIN used for the 100 mm (nom.) or 4-inch (nom.) using this CID is generated as follows: AA52559-1; where -1 indicates a 4-inch or 100 mm nominal road crossing guard. 6.6 Key words.
