2、 . all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This CID covers the general requirements for two types of padding materials used in packaging ammunition. This material is used to fill gaps, adjust fit, and prevent motion of ammunition inside watertight containers. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The padding materials shall b
3、e of the following types: Type I - Flexible Type II - Non-flexible 3. SALIENT mCTERISTICS. 3.1 m. The padding material shall be supplied as flat sheets, rolls or cut sizes as specified in the contract or order(see 7.1). 3.2 Dimensions. 3.2.1 Thickness. The thickness and tolerance of the padding mate
4、rial shall be as specified in the contract or order(see 7.1). 3.2.2 Widths and Lensths. The width and length of rolls and sheets shall be as specifiedin the contract or order(see 7.1). A tolerance of plus or minus(+-) 1/4 inch shall be permitted on the width of rolls or sheets. The length of any ind
5、ividual roll or sheet shall be not less than the specified length. 8、 compression strength, compression set, flexibility and compatibility at temperatures ranging from -65F through 160F. 3.4 Tensile Strensth. The padding material shall have a specific strength of 100 pounds per square inch (psi) minimum at 70F. 3.5 Comriression Strensth. The load required to compress
9、 the padding material 25 percent shall be 5.5 f2.0 psi. The load required to compress the padding material 50 percent shall be 58 f19 psi. The compression strength at -65OF and at 160F shall not differ from each other by more than one-half of the compression strength obtained at 70F. 3.6 Comression
10、Set. The padding material shall return to not less than 89 percent of its original height after having been subjected to 50 percent compression at 70F. The padding material shall return to not less than 85 percent of its original height after being subjected to 50 percent compression at -6SF and at
11、160F. 3.7 Plexibilitv. The Type I padding material shall withstand a 180 degree bend in both directions without cracking, tearing or de-laminating at 70F. 3.8 Comatibilitv Properties. The padding material shall have no adverse affect on aluminum, brass, steel, zinc, enamel and varnish. The padding m
12、aterial shall not adhere or transfer any material to steel surfaces. The padding material shall not tarnish or corrode aluminum, brass, steel and zinc. A slight even stain on the test panels, which is the same size as the padding material specimen shall not be considered defective. The padding mater
13、ial shall not deteriorate alkyd-styrene enamel or phenolic varnish. The padding material shall not cause softening, tackiness, adhesion or transference of the coating to the padding material. 3.9 Acidity and alkalinity. The padding material shall have a pH value of 7.0 fl.O. 3.10 Dustinq. The paddin
14、g material shall have a maximum weight loss of 0.05 percent due to dusting. 4. REGLTiTRY REQUIREMENTS. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered material to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 2 Provided by IHSN

The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, conform
16、 to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Product testinq. The padding material provided shall be tested in
17、 accordance with industry standard practices for the material. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the tests to verify that the padding material complies with the requirements. 6. PACKAGING. Preservation, packing, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order. 7. NOTES.
