The yarn shall be singles and shall be made from cotton which has been carded, drawn, and spun into singles yarn. 3.3 Color. 3.3.1 Style a. The color design of the cloth shall be alternating bleached or unbleached white, and blue “dyed“ warp
10、 stripes which may be either solid or broken by bleached or unbleached white warp ends. shall be about 1/4 inch wide and the blue stripe shall be about 3/16 inch wide. The white stripe 3.3.1.1 Style b. The color shall be bleached or unbleached white cloth. 3.3.2 Matching, style a. The color of the b
11、lue stripe shall match the color of the blue stripe on the approved standard sample for shade when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps which approximate artificial daylight having a correlated color temperature of 7000 + 500 Ky with illumination of 100 2 20 foot candles, and shall be a good match t
12、o the standard sample under incandescent lamplight at 2300 2 100 K. 3.3.3 Colorfastness, style a. The finished cloth shall show colorfastness to water equal to or better than the standard sample. When no standard sample is established or referenced for colorfastness, the finished cloth shall show “g
13、ood“ colorfastness to water, when tested as specified in 4.2.3. 3.3.4 Labile sulfur, style a. The use of dyes and compounds containing elementary sulfur capable of oxidation to sulfuric acid is prohibited. The dyes shall be chosen and applied so that the dyed and finished cloth shall contain no more
14、 labile sulfur than shown by the standard sample when tested as specified in 4.2.3. When no standard sample is available, the.finished cloth shall show no more than a slight trace of labile sulfur when tested as specified in 4.2.3. 3.4 Shrinkage. Type II, class 2 cloth shall be preshrunk and the res
15、idual shrinkage shall not exceed 2.0 percent in either the warp or filling direction when tested as specified in 4.2.3. The preshrinking process used shall not be identified by name or trademark, either on the cloth, on the ticket or on the package. 3.5 Treatment. Type II, class 2 cloth shall be giv
16、en an approved flame- resistant treatment (see 6.4). of flaming of not more than 2.0 seconds and an average length of char of not more than 5.0 inches, both initially and following 15 launderings, when tested as specified in 4.2.3. The finished cloth shall be thoroughly plant-washed to remove any re
17、sidues from the curing process. The water-soluble material of the finished cloth shall not exceed 4.5 percent when tested as specified in 4.2.3. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contactor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified
28、in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specifica
29、tion where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements, 4.1.1 Certificate of compliance. Where certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certificat
30、ion. 4.2 Quality conformance. 4.2.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be tested in accordance with all the reauirements of referenced specifications, drawings, and standards unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this spec
31、ification or applicable purchase documents. 4.2.2 End item examination. 4.2.2.1 Yard-by-yard examination. The entire yardage of each roll in the sample but not more than 100 linear yards per roll, shall be examined on the face side. All defects as defined in Section I of FED-STD-4, which are clearly
32、 noticeable at normal inspection distance (3 feet) shall be scored and assigned demerit points as listed 4.2.2.1.1 except that only those slubs and knots which exceed the limits shown in figure 1 of FED-STD-4 shall be scored. No linear yard shall be penalized more than 4 points. The sample size shal

39、olls. During the yard-by-yard examination, each roll in the sample shall be examined for length. Any length found to be less than the minimum specified or more than two yards less than the length marked on the ticket shall be considered as a defect with respect to length. The lot shall be unacceptab
40、le if two or more rolls in the sample are defective in respect to length. 4.2.2.2.2 Examination for total yardage. The lot shall be unacceptable if the total of the actual lengths of the rolls in the sample (see 4.2.2.2.1) is less than the total of the lengths marked on the roll tickets. 42.2.3 Roll
41、 identification examination. During the yard-by-yard examination, each roll in the sample shall be examined for defects listed below. 43、loth shall be tested for the characteristics list in table II. The methods of testing specified in FED-STD-191 whenever applicable and as listed in table II shall be followed. The physical and chemical values specified in Section 3, except for type II, class 2 cloth where lot average applies to yarn
44、s per inch, weight, and breaking strength, apply to the results of the determinations made on the sample unit for test purposes as specified in the applicable test method. The sample unit shall be 1-1/2 continuous yards for types I and II, class I cloth, and 3 continuous yards for the finished type
45、II, class 2 cloth. Also, for the type II, class 2 cloth, the sample unit shall include 1-1/2 continuous yards of cloth before it is desized for treating and 1/2 yard of cloth after it is desized for treating. The sample size (number of ;ample units) shall be expressed in units of one yard. The lot s
