1、Mn-B-48553( MU) 18 December 1974 MILITARY SPECIFICATION BANDOLEER, XM 8 This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope.- This specification covers one type of bandoleer intended to hold 5.56mm ammunition for use in M16 rifle. 2

APPLICABLF: DOCUMENTS 2.1 The following documents of the issue in effect on the date of invitation for bids or request for proposal, form a part of the specification to the extent specified herein. REQUIREMENTS 1 3.1 General,- The bandoleer shall

5、 comply with the requirements specified on Drawin-4271, referenced specifications and the following: 3.2 First article sample.- Requirements for submission of first article sample by the contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 3.3 Strength of material.- The bandoleer loaded with a weight o

6、f 7035 grains plus or minus 20 grains per pocket, shall not show any ripping of stitches or material when subjected to a 12 inch free drop, with center of strap supporting bandoleer upon completion of drop. 3.4 Workmanship.- The bandoleer shall be free of rips, tears, irregular sewing and other defe

7、cts. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection, - Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responeible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or order, the supp

8、lier may use his own or any other facilTties suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government, form any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspecbions are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conf

9、orm to prescribed require- ments. The Government reserves the right to per- 4.1.1 Quality Assurance terms and definitions.- Reference shall be made to MIL-STD-109 to define quality assurance terms used. 4.2 First article sample. 4.2.1 Initial production sample. - At the beginning of regular producti

10、on, a sample shall be submitted in accordance with contract requirements. The sample shall be manufactured using the same material, equipment, processes, and pro- cedures as will be used in regular production. All parts and materials, shall be the same as used for regular production and shall be obt

11、ained from the same source of supply. The sample shall consist of: a. 50 ea. - Bandoleer for dimensional and visual examination and drop kest (see 6.2) b. 25 ea. - Straps for dimensional and visual examination 2 C -. . . .- Licensed by Information Handling Services4.2.1.1 kcamination and test.-AfGcr

12、 inspection and provisional acceptance at source, the sample shall be inspected for all requirements of the drawings and specifications at a Government labortory or such other facility specified in the contract. 4.2.1.2 Initial production sample failure,- Failure of the sample to comply with the req

13、uirements of the drawings and specifications shall result in sample disapproval .- Determination as to acceptability of any initial production sample shall be based upon results of initial tests only and no second tests shall be perinitted on that initial production sample. 4.3 Inspection provisions

14、. 4.3.1 - Lot. 4.3.1.1 Submission of product.- The product shall be submitted in accordance with Standard MIL-STD-105. 4.3.1.2 Size of lot,- The bandoleers lot size shall be as agreed upon between the contractor and the contracting officer, provided the formation of the lot is in accordance with MIL

15、-STD-105. 4.3.2 performed as specified herein. NBch bandoleer found to be defective shall be rejected. Examination.- Examination for major and minor defects shall be 4.3.2.1 Samplfng and acceptance criteria. - Sampling plans and procedures shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105. minor defects shall

16、 be performed on a class basis in accordance with the classi- fication of defects, using applicable sampling plans and acceptance criteria of MIL-STD-105. The Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) for the major class shall be l,5 percent with no individual defect characteristic associated with the class ba

If in the accumulated sample four or more units 4.3.5 Packing and marking inspection. - Inspection for packing and marking shall be as directed by the contracting officer. 4.3.6 Inspection equipment.- The examination and test shall be made using equipment approved by the Gover

24、nment. 4.4 Test methods and procedures. 4 Licensed by Information Handling ServicesMIL-B-48553 (MU) 4.4.1 Drop test.- Each pocket of he test bandoleers shall be filled with a weight of 7035 grains plus or minus 20 grainsapprm-imatiing the dimensions of the pocket. The filled bandoleer shall be suspe

25、nded by the strap, with the weight evenly distributed, from a rigid horizontal bar approximately one-half inch diameter. The strap, at the point of suspension, shall then be raised vertically one foot and dropped upon the bar. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Packing. - Level C (domestic shipment), -

26、 Bandoleers shall be packed in a fiberboard box as foilows: bundle. Straps are to be piaced on back of bandoleer. packaged oriented in the same direction (front side up) in neat bundles of 25 pieces and secured io prevent disarrangement during shipment. The bandoleers shall be packed within a corrug

27、ated fiberboard box, 350 pound test, conforming to style RSC of specification PPP-B-636, containing a preformed, bag type, interior wrap conforming to barrier material, Class C-1, of PPP-B-1055. 1,000 bandoleers in 4.0 bundles, 25 bandoleers per Bandoleers are to be 5.2 Marking.- Each box shall be m

28、arked with the bandoleer manufacturers name, lot number, and date of manufacture and other markings in accordance with MIL-STD-129. 6* NOTES 6.1 Ordering data.- Invitations for bids and eontracts or orders will specify the following: 6.1.1 Title, number and date of this specification. 6.1.2 Requirem

29、ent for contractor to provide and maintain an inspection system in accordance with MIL-1-45208, Inspection System Requirements. 6.2 The 50 samples submitted for first article evaluation should not be subjected to the drop test prior to submission to the Government.
