Variation from the specification 3.1.1 First article. When specified, a sample shall be subjected to first article ins
13、pection (see 4.1.2, 6.2, and 6.6). 3.2 Materials. 3.2.1 Basic material. The basic material shall be aramid twill cloth, natural color, 6.23 to 7.23 oz/yd2 conforming to Putnam Mills Style 650 or equal (see 6.7). 3.2.2 Fastener tapes. The hook and pile fastener tapes for front neck closure and waist
14、adjustment, shall be 1-inch wide hook and pile, White 3055, conforming to type II, class 2 of MIL-F-21840. 3.2.3 Slide fasteners. The slide fasteners shall be brass, with a black chemical finish and conform to V-F-106. The material for the tapes shall be an aramid tape 3/4-inch wide, Olive Drab Shad
15、e S, Cable No. 66519, Air Force Gray No. 468 or natural, and shall show fastness to laundering. Thongs are required on all slide fasteners. The finished length of the thongs shall be measured from the top of the loop to the end of the thong. 3.2.3.1 Front opening. The slide fastener for the front op
16、ening- shall conform to type I, style 15, with long tab pull, size M. The lengths for the various sizes shall comply with operation 25.b. The thongs shall finish 3-1/2 to 4 inches long. Thongs are required on both pull tabs. 3.2.3.2 Front lateral openings. The slide fasteners for the front lateral o
17、penings shall conform to type IV, style 8, with short tab pull, size M, 16 inches long. The thongs shall finish 2-1/4 to 2-3/4 inches in length. 3.2.3.3 Thong tape. The elastic webbing for the back waist shall be cotton, 1 inch wide, natural, conforming to class 1 of MIL-W-5664 or commercial equivalent (see 6.4). - - 3.2.5 Snap fastener. The snap fastene

33、ion, 3.6.1 Stitches, seams, and stitching. Stitch, seam and stitching types specified in table II shall conform to FED-STD-751. When two or more seam or stitch types are given for the same part of an operation, any one of them may be used. Where stitch type 401 is used, the looper thread shall be on
