APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 Government documents. 2.1.1 Specifications and standards. The following specifications and s

The following documents form a part of this speci- fication to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specified, the i

Unless otherwise specified, the issues of documents not listed in the DODISS shall be the issue of the non- government documents which is current on the date of the solicitati

In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or MS standar

12、ds), the text of this specification shall take precedence. Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials. 3.1.1 Base fabric. The base fabric shall be nylon cloth conforming to type

No natural rubber, reclaimed rubber, or synthetic rubber other than butyl shall be used. 3.1.3 Coating. The coating compound shall be applied to both sides of the base fabric af

15、ter which it shall be fully vulcanized. The distribution of coat- ing shall be 50 to 75 percent on one side with the balance on the other side. Both sides shall be dusted with a non-abrasive powder to prevent blocking and to produce a uniform dull finish. 3.1.4 Age. The coated cloth shall be not mor

16、e than 30 months old from the date of manufacture of the nylon base fabric to the date of submission of end item test results to the Government. - 3.2 Physical and chemical requirements. The coated cloth shall conform to table I when tested as specified in table V. 3.3 Length. Each roll shall contai

17、n from 180 to 220 Linear yards and shall consist of no more than four pieces with no single piece being less than 6 yards long. The ends of the pieces shall be overlapped and not joined by a seam. 3.4 Width. order (see 6.2). The width shall be as specified in the contract or purchase 3.5 Odor. The c

18、oated cloth shall be free from any odor, except the charac- - teristic odor of the coating compound. 3.6 Color. The color of the coated cloth shall be as specified in the con- tract or purchase order (see 6.2 and 6.7). 3.7 Marking. The words “HEAVY SIDE“ shall be stenciled in legible 1/2-inch black

19、letters on the heavier coated side (or on either side if the coating is equally distributed on both sides) of each roll. The marking shall be located within 2 inches from one edge and spaced no more than 1 yard apart. 3.8 First article. Prior to the start of regular production, a first arti- cle sam

20、ple of coated cloth shall be produced in accordance with this specifica- tion for examination and test (see 4i3). techniques shall require a new first article sample. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the con-

25、tract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. 26、51A(EA) in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use any commercial labora- tory certified by the Goverment as qualified to perform the specified toxico- logical agent tests and his own or any other facilities suitable for the perfor- mance of the remaining inspection requirements speci

27、fied herein, unless dis- approved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to insure that supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compli

28、ance. Al1 items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or suppl

29、ies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all require- ments of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize sub- mission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. The inspectio

30、n set forth in this specification shall 4.1.2 Objective evidence. The contractor shall provide objective evidence acceptable to the contracting officer that the requirements of 3.1 and section 5 for which specific inspection has not been provided in this specification. have been satisfied. When cert

31、ificates of compliance are submitted, the Govern- ment reserves the right to inspect such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: (a) (b) First aricle inspection (see 4.3). Qualit

32、y conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Sample. Prior to the start of regular production, a 7 yard, full width sample of the coated cloth shall be produced using the same methods, mate- rials, equipment and processs as will be used in regular production. yards of the

33、sample shall be used for testing all physical and chemical require- ments, except for toxicological agent resistance. The remaining 3 yards of the sample shall be used for testing toxicological agent resistance initially, after weatherometer, and after decontamination. Four 4.3.2 Inspection procedur

34、e. 4.3.2.1 For examination and test. The first article sample shall be rejected if it fails to meet any of the requirements of this specification. The Government reserves the right to terminate inspection and testing upon failure to meet any of the

36、requirements of this specification. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4.4.1 Lotting. A lot shall consist of the coated cloth produced from no less than one lot or no more than four lots of base fabric coated by one manu- facturer, at one plant, using the same materials and processes, and under ess

37、en- tially the same manufacturing conditions. 4.4.2 Sampling and inspection procedure. 4.4.2.1 Classification and marking of defects. Defects found during examina- tion shall be classified in accordance with tables II and IV. These defects shall be marked and flagged, on each sample roll examined, a

38、s follows: Major defects shall be flagged at the selvage edge with red thread or red masking tape. white masking tape. marking pencil. 39、nty-five continuous yards selected at random from each sample roll shall be examined on one side only (see table II), however, the side shall be alternated so that alternate rolls are examined on the face and back, respectively. The same yardage shall be given a thorough lighting inspection for tran

40、slucent areas. regardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition of the coated cloth, in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warpwise yard or fraction ther

41、eof in which it occurs. The sample size shall be in accordance with table III. The AQL (defined as speci- fied in MIL-STD-109) shall be 4.0 for major and 6.0 total (major and minor com- bined) defects per 100 linear yards for the total yardage examined from the lot Defects found shall be counted 44.

42、2.3 For overall examination. Each roll of coated cloth used in the visual examination shall be examined for the defects listed in table IV. If the total number of defects in the sample rolls exceeds the applicable accep- tance number specified in table III or if the total of the actual lengths of th

43、e sample rolls is less than the total of the lengths marked on the roll tickets, the lot shall be rejected. 4.4.2.4 For test. (a) Physical and chemical testing. For all characteristics, other than those for toxicological agent resistance, the coated and cured cloth shall be tested in accordance with

44、 the methods of testing specified in table V.
