Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Description. The compressor unit shall be portable, and shall consist of a recip
30、rocating compressor, driven by a diesel engine, and shal.1 produce not less than 20 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of free air at 5000 pounds per square inch gage (psig). The engine and compressor unit shall be shock mounted. The compressor unit shall be complete and self-contained, including a final a
31、ir filter and all other accessories. The compressor unit shall weigh not more than 1500 pounds dry and the dimensions shall not exceed 50 inches in height, 60 inches in length, and 48 inches in width. A water resistant tarpaulin shall be provided. Divingldiving support equipment shall meet all stand

36、milar metals. Dissimilar metals shall not be used in intimate contact with each other unless protected against galvanic corrosion. Dissimilar metals and methods of protection are defined and detailed in MIL-STD-889. 3.3.3 Identification of materials and finishes. The contractor shall identify the sp
37、ecific material, material finish or treatment for use with component and subcomponent, and shall make information available upon request to the contracting officer or designated representative. 3.3.4 Recovered materials. For the purpose of this requirement, recovered materials are those materials wh
38、ich have been collected from solid waste and reprocessed to become a source of raw materials, as distinguished from virgin raw materials. The components, pieces and parts incorporated in the compressor may be newly fabricated from recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, provided the c
39、ompressor produced meets all other requirements of this specification. Used, rebuilt or remanufactured components, pieces and parts shall not be incorporated in the compressor. 3.4 Environmental conditions. 3.4.1 Operation. The compressor unit shall operate as specified herein at any ambient tempera
40、ture from minus 25 OF to plus 110 OF. 3.4.2 Precipitation. The compressor unit shall perform as specified herein in rain falling at a rate of three inches per hour. 3.5 Safety. All reciprocationg, rotating or moving parts of the compressor unit shall be guarded when such parts are exposed to contact
41、 by personnel or otherwise create a hazard. All hot surfaces of the compressor unit, including exhaust pipes and other lines which may be subject to high temperatures, exposed to contact by personnel or which create a fire hazard, shall be fully guarded or insulated. Exhaust from the engine shall be
42、 directed so that it does not endanger personnel, and so that the possibility of exhaust entering into the compressor unit inlet is minimized. Electrical equipment, wires, and connectors shall be effectively guarded or insulated to protect all persoris and objects from electrical shock hazard. Nonfu
43、nctional sharp edges, projecting points and excessive length of fastening devices shall be avoided. 3.5.2 Noise limits. The noise produced by the compressor shall conform with MIL-STD-1474 requirements, with the exception of MIL-STD-1474, 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4 when tested in accordance with 4.5.2.9. The
44、 provision of MIL-STD-1474, 4.3 and 4.4 shall be provided if and only if MIL-STD-1474, 5.1.1.2 procedures have been pursued and documented to the satisfaction of the procuring, activity and written permission to exceed the 85 dB(A) limit is obtained from the procuring activity. 46、maintainability. 3.6.1 Reliability. The specified mean-time-between-failure (MTBF), shall be O hours when tested as specified in 4.5.2.14. 3.6.2 Maintainability. The compressor shall operate as specifeci herein without repair of maintenance other than the contractors recommended normal scheduled adj
47、ustments and servicing as established by a maintenance schedule prepared and submitted by the contractor prior to test. All major assemblies shall be accessible for servicing, repair, and replacement without the removal of adjustment or repair shall be equipped with quick-disconnect fasteners. All f
