SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers the loading, assembling acking for one type of rocket assisted artillery cartridge designated as Cartridge, 105MM, HE, Roc

2、ket Assisted, XM548 (including loading of the warhead and the motor body). 2. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material.

11、-Cavities and cracks within the explosive charge shall not exceed the requirements specified in Table I when determined in accordance with 4.3.1. 15、th and 80 percent of the projected area shall be considered for .acceptance purposes. 3.3.3 Cracked charges,-Not more than four transverse cracks shall be permitted in any charge and not more than one transverse crack shall be permitted in Segment A. Surface cavitation.-Cavities in Segment D of Figu

16、re 1 formed due to chipped or broken explosive from the sidewalls of the fuze well shall not extend in aggregate around more than 1/4 of the circumference. The max. dimension of any visible cavity in the base of the fuze well shall not exceed 1/4 1nch.in any direction and the total area of all such

17、cavities shall not exceed 80 percent of the area of the fuze well base. -No individual point of explsive shall extend above the flat surface on which the liner would rest. (Cavities having a maximum dimension of 1/32 inch or less shall be disregarded in this computation). Disregard any cavitation in

18、 fuze well above Segment D. 3.3.5 Base separation.-There shall be no separation greater than 1/32 of an inch between the shell base and the filler E and likewise between the filler E and the explosive charge. 3.3.4 3.4 Loading of high explosive 3.4.1 Mating surfaces.-The mating surfaces of threads s

19、hall be free of caked explosive and all threads shall be free of foreign material. acetone or methylene chloride shall be used. Care shall be taken to prevent the chemical cleaner from coming into contact with the charge and becoming entrapped in the warhead, present in the warhead before loading or

20、 be added to the shell during pouring or cooling. Coating.-Warhead having the interior wall imperfectly coated shall not be loaded. The interior surface of the warhead shall be dry when the high explosive is poured into the warhead. withstand a minimum disassembly torque of 200 foot pounds when test

23、.-The cartridge shall comply with the following requirements when tested as specified in 4.3.3, 3.8.1 Functioning 3.8.1,l Failure to fire.-The cartridge shall not fail to fire 3.8.1.2 Rocket Motor Functioning,-When the rocket selector cap is removed, the rocket shall fire in flight. When the rocket

24、selector cap is leftin place (set to remain inert) the rocket shall not fire. 3.8.1.3 Impact functioning.-The cartridge shall function 3.8,1.4 Horizontal range 3.8.1.4.1 The mean corrected horizontal range shall be high order on impact. within 80 meters of that predicted by the applicable range tabl

25、e and the standard deviation shall not be greater than 80 meters, 3,8.1.4.2 No cartridge shall have a horizontal range less 3.8.1.4.3 Muzzle velocity,-The corrected muzzle velocity than 95 percent of the mean horizontal range. of the projectile conditioned at 70 degrees Fahrenheit shall not be more

26、than i825 feet per second nor less than 1775 feet per second and the standard deviation of the lot shall not be greater than 8 feet per second. 3.8.1.5 Premature burst.-There shall be no premature burst. 3.8.2 Safety.-There shall be no premature burst, rocket motor malfunctioning or indication of me

27、tal parts separation in the gun bore or in flight when fired at any service charge or with propellant adjusted to produce 37,000 psi chamber pressure in a M103 Or Mi37 cannon, shall have a horizontal range less than 95 percent of the mean horizontal range of its group. 29、thorough workmanlike manner. Parts shall be free of burrs, chips, dirt, grease, rust, corrosion products and other foreign material. The cleaning method shall not be injurious to any of the parts nor shall the parts be contaminated by the cleaning agent. Care shall be exercised at all times so that

30、the rotating band of each motor body will not be damaged by being nicked or burred, 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4,i General quality assurance provisions.-Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements a

31、s specified herein. may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory accept- able to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to pr

32、escribed requirements. Reference shall be made to Standard MIL-STD-109 in order to define terms used herein, The provisions of Specification MIL-A-2550 shall apply. Submission of product.-At the time the completed lot of product is submitted to the Government for acceptance, the contractor shall sup

33、ply the following information accompanied by a certificate which attests that the information provided is correct and applicable to the product being submitted: a. A statement that the lot complies with all of the quality assurance provisions specified within this specification. b. Number of units o

34、f product inspected. c. Results obtained, by defect code, for all inspections performed. d. Drawing, specification number and date, together with an identification and date of changes. e. Certificates of conformance on all material purchased by the contractor when such material is controlled by Gove

35、rnment or commercial specifications referenced in any of the contractual documents. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier 4.1,i f. Number of items in the lot. g. The initial certificate submitted shall be substantiated by evidence of the agents authority to bind his principal. Substantiation of the agents authority will not be required

37、 with subsequent certificates unless, during the course of the contract, this authority is vested in another agent of the certifying organization. 4.2 Inspection providions 4.2.1 Lot formation. -The term “lot II as used throughout this specification refers to an inspection lot, which is defined as a

38、n essentially homoqeneous collection of units of product from which a representative sample is drawn and inspected to determine conformance of the lot with applicable requirements. The sample selected shall renresent only that quantity of units from which the sample was drawn and shall not be constr

39、ued to represent any prior or subseciuent quantities presented for in- spection. Homo.qeneitg shall be considered to exist provided the lot has been produced by one manufacturer, in one unchanged process, in accordance with the same drawinp;, same drawing re- vision, same specification and sane spec

40、ification revision. Changes to the process, specification, or drawing not affecting safety, nerformnnce, interchangeability, or storage, as determined by the Government, shall not be deemed to alter the homogeneity of the lot. Inspection lots shall comply with MIL-STD-105. Unless otherwise approved

41、by the contracting officer the inspection lot size of end items deliverable under the contract shall be not less than the smallest weekly estimate of quantities contractually scheduled for production during the contract period nor more than the larqest monthly quantity contractually scheduled for de

42、livery during the contract period. Inspection lots for components or subassemblies, other than the items of delivery, shall be hono- geneous aiid of a size mutually convenient to both the contractor and the Governnent insneetor. 46、 100 percent. plans and procedures for Major and Minor defects shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105 except that continuous samDling plans in accordance with MIL-STD-1235 may be used if approved by the procuring activity. Also, at the option of the procuring activity, AQLs and sampling plans may b

47、e applied to individual characteristics listed using an AQL of 0.65 percent for each Minor defect and an AQL of 0.40 percent for each Major defect, except where 100 percent inspection is specified. Equipment necessary for the performance of the inspections listed shall be in accordance with 4.2.4. S
