When specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2), a sampleshall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.1. The first article shall bemanufactured by the contractor in the same manner and in the same facilities
20、 as thoseused for the production items.3.2 Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials . Recycled,recovered, or environmental preferable materials should be used to the maximum extentpossible provided that the material meets or exceeds operational and maintenancerequirements and pro
21、motes economically advantageous life cycle costs.3.3 Materials . Materials shall be as specified herein.3.3.1 Yarn .3.3.1.1 Cotton core . The stuffer yarn for the cord shall be 4/4 cotton.3.3.1.2 Rayon cover . When rayon is used for the cord and loop cover, the yarn shall be acontinuous filament, re

When nylon is used f
23、or the cord and loop cover, the yarn shall be acontinuous filament, bright nylon of 420 denier having a minimum of 68 filaments. The yarn forthe cord shall be 420/3 ply with 6 1 turn per inch. The yarn for the loop shall be 420/2 ply with6 1 turn per inch.3.3.1.4 Color . Colors shall be as shown in

26、.3.2 Lacquer . The lacquer shall be a pale, clear, synthetic lacquer. The use of pigmentedlacquer shall not be permitted.3.3.3 Copper base alloy . The copper base alloy shall be roll polished, free from pits, scale(including red oxide), dents, nicks, cracks, scratches, segregation, and foreign inclu
27、sions thatcan not be removed in later processing. When tested as specified in 4.3.1, the copper contentof the applicable copper base alloy shall be as specified in Table II.TABLE II. The thread for stitching the buttonhole loop to the plaited cord shallconform to Type III, Ticket C, 3 Ply of A-A-52094

All yarns, including the rayon or nylon cover yarn and cotton core yarn,shall be dyed as specified in TABLE I. The use of sulfur dyes and dyes containing
30、 elementarysulfur or compounds capable of oxidation to sulfuric acid is prohibited.3.3.5.2 Matching colors . Colors shall match the approved shades under artificial daylighthaving a color temperature of 7500 500 degrees Kelvin.3.3.5.3 Colorfastness . The rayon or nylon cover yarn shall show fastness
31、 to laundering,wet-dry cleaning, and light. The cotton core yarn shall show fastness to laundering and wet-drycleaning. All tests shall show not less than good fastness when compared against the colorsspecified in TABLE I after testing as specified in 4.3.1.3.3.5.4 Thread . All stitching thread shal
32、l match the color of the loop yarns specified inTABLE I. When tested as specified in A-A-52094, the dyed thread shall show good fastness tolaundering, wet dry cleaning, and light.3.3.6 Ferrule and ring . The ferrule and ring shall be made from any type brass specified in3.3.3 and shall conform to th
33、e details and dimensions shown in Figure 1.3.4 Construction . The shoulder cord shall be made from a single piece of braided plaitingcord specified in 3.4.1 and in accordance with the details and dimensions shown in Figure 1 andthe requirements specified herein.3.4.1 Braided plaiting cord . The fini
34、shed cord shall consist of a braided tubular rayon ornylon cover specified in 3.3.1.2 and 3.3.1.3 over a cotton core stuffer specified in 3.3.1.1.Sufficient ends of the cotton yarn shall be used to ensure the finished cord is round, firm, and7 /32 inch 1/32 inch in diameter. The rayon or nylon cover
35、 shall be braided on a 16 carriermachine, 1 end per carrier, with not less than 24 picks per inch in a 2 over, 2 under, plain braid.3.4.2 End loop cord and buttonhole cord . The finished end loop cord and buttonhole cordshall consist of a tubular braided rayon or nylon cover over sufficient cotton c
36、ore stuffer yarn toensure a diameter of 3 /32 inch 1/32 inch.3.4.3 Shoulder cord construction . The rayon or nylon covered braided cord shall be plaitedin accordance with the design shown in Figure 1:- With a single piece of braided cord specified in 3.4.1, begin at one free end and, by using aloop
37、and buttonhole cord specified in 3.4.2, form an end loop 1-3/8 inches 1/8 inch.Secure the loop by stitching and wrapping the free end with not less than 10 turns of loopand buttonhole cord for an area of 1 inch 1/8 inch. Use stitching thread specified in3.3.4.1.- From the wrapping above, allow 2-1/4
38、 inches 1/4 inch of plain braided cord.- Then plait the braided plaiting cord for 26 inches 2 inches using 50 2 plaits.- From the end of the plaiting, allow 5 inches 1/2 inch of plain braided cord.- Then knot the plain braided cord 4 times, making the knotted area 1 inch 1/8 inch inwidth.- Midway be
39、tween the plaited section and the knotted section, form a buttonhole loop with aminimum of 4-1/4 inches of loop cord. The buttonhole shall measure 1 inch 1/8 inch.Insert the loop underneath the tubular braid a minimum of 1 inch; then sew it securely tothe braided cord with thread specified in 3.3.4.

41、for the ring 2-5/8 inches 1/4 inch from the4 knots.3.4.4. Ferrule and ring . The ferrule and ring shall be mirror-like polished and shall becompletely coated with lacquer or a lacquer-like finish specified in 3.3.2. Testing of lacquershall be as specified in 4.3.2.2.4. VERIFICATION4.1 Classification
42、 of inspections . The inspection requirements specified herein are classifiedas follows:a. First article inspection. Inspection and testing of the first article (see 3.1) shall be made ofa completely finished item or items for any or all provisions of this specification applicable to theend product
43、examination and tests.b. Conformance inspection. Inspection shall be in accordance with the provisions set forthherein, except where otherwise indicated (see 6.2). Sampling for inspection shall be performedin accordance with ANSI/ASQC Z1.4.4.2 Inspection conditions . Unless otherwise stated, all ins
44、pections shall be performed inaccordance with the conditions specified in 4.3.4.3 Methods of inspection .4.3.1 Testing of components .
