This specification covers two types of Disperse Red 11 dye (CAS 2872-48-2),chemically known as 1,4 -diamino -2 -methoxyanthraquinone;Type I - for solvent

3、based binders and bowl and V type blenders,Type II - for air based fluidized bed type blenders.2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS2.1 General. VERIFICATION4.1 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classi-fied as follows:(a) First article insp

16、ection (see 4.2)(b) Conformance inspection (see 4.3)4.2 First article inspection.4.2.1 Lotting. The first article lot shall consist of at least 970 kg of Disperse Red 11 Dyemanufactured using the same methods, materials, equipment, and processes as will be usedduring regular production. The first ar

Ifthere isanychangeofvendors,methods,materials, equipment, facilities, orifthere is

18、a break inproductionof90 daysormore, the con-tracting Officer shall be notified and at the discretion of the Government, a new first articlesample may be required.4.2.2 Sampling. The contractor shall randomly select three representative samples, ofapproximately 200g each, from the first article lot

19、of dye and place each sample in a clean drycontainer labeled to identify the first article lot.4.2.3 Inspection procedure. Eachfirst article sample shall be subjectedto all of the inspec-tions specified in the classification of characteristics in 4.3.5.4.2.4 Acceptance criteria. If any first article

20、 sample fails to comply with any of the applica-ble requirements, the firstarticle sample shall be rejected. The Governmentreserves the righttoterminate inspectionupon anyfailure tocomply withany ofthe requirements. Thecontrac-tor shall obtain written approval from the contracting activity prior to

21、proceeding with regularproduction.4.3 Conformance inspection.4.3.1 Lotting. A lot shall consist of the dye produced by one manufacturer, at one plant,fromthesamematerials,underthesamemanufacturingconditions,andatthesametime. Theminimum lot size shall be 2270 kg. In the event the lot is a batch opera

22、tion (see 6.7), severalbatches may be mixed together to form a lot, provided the batches are subjected to a physicalmixing operation intended to make the final product uniform and homogenous.4.3.2 Sampling. The contractor shall randomly select three representative samples, ofapproximately 200g each,

23、 from the lot of dye and place each sample in a clean dry containerlabeled to identify the lot represented.4.3.3 Inspection procedure. Each dye sample shall be inspected in accordance with theclassification of characteristics in 4.3.5. Failure of any sample to conform to any characteristicin theclas

24、sification ofcharacteristics basedacceptance criteriaspecified thereinshall becausefor rejection of the lot represented.4.3.4 Criticalcharacteristics. Unlessotherwisespecifiedintheclassificationofcharacteris-tics, the samplingandacceptance criteria forcritical characteristicsshall be in accordance w

25、iththe Critical characteristics paragraph of MIL-STD-1916.4.3.5 Classification of characteristics. Conformance inspections shall be as specified inthefollowingclassificationofcharacteristicsparagraphs. Whenverificationlevels(VLs)arespeci-fiedforselectionofsamplesizesandacceptancecriteria,theattribut

Prepare and measure the absorbance of a standard Disperse Red 11 solutiona

29、nd specimen solution as follows: Weigh to the nearest milligram approximately 0.400g of dyeandquantitativelytransfertoa500-milliliter(mL)volumetricflaskusingsmallamountsofiso-propyl alcohol for washing. Dissolve specimen in approximately 200mL of isopropyl alcohol,stirringandbreakingupalllumpstofaci

30、litatethesolution.Diluteto500mLwithisopropylalco-hol. Shake thoroughly to insure uniform mixing. Remove a 20mL aliquot, transfer to a second500mL volumetric flask, dilute to 500mL with isopropyl alcohol, and mix thoroughly. Using aspectrophotometer, read the adsorbance value of the more dilute solut

31、ion at 500 +/- 2 nano-meters.Usetheisopropylalcoholthatwasusedinpreparingthesolutionasthereferenceliquidin the spectrophotometer. Calculate the percent purity as follows:Percent purity = (ABC)(DE)where: A = Percent purity of the standard,B = Absorbance value of the specimen,C = Weight of standard in

32、 grams (gm),D = Absorbance value of standard, andE = Weight of specimen in grams (gm).4.4.2 Particlesize. Particlesizeanalysisshallbeperformedusingthelaserdiffractionmeth-odoutlinedbelow. Particlesizeanalysisandhistogramarerequiredwithmaterialcertification.1. SAMPLE PREPARATION:A.Weighapproximately0

33、.2 Grams(200 mg)ofdyesample intoa 30mL beaker. Add25mL deionized water to the dye sample.B. Add 1 or 2 drops of surfactant into the dye/water mixture.C. Place an external ultrasonic probe (Sonics 130 watt) in the dye sample mixture. Soni-cate the sample mixture for 30 seconds at 100% power setting.2

34、. INTRODUCTION OF SAMPLE INTO THE INSTRUMENT AND TESTING:A. After sonication is completed, place a clean stirring bar into the sample and move thesonicated sample to a stirrer set to medium speed to keep all of the particles in the liquid insuspension.B. Set the laser diffraction particle size analy

35、zer for MIE calculation with a Relative Re-fractive Index at 1.50 -.010.C. Using a pipette transfer a 7.5 +/- 0.5 mL sample from the beaker into the reservoirwiththesystemcirculatingataslow speeduntil properparticle loadingisattainedintheinstru-ment.Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or ne

ForType IIdye reportthe meanparticle size, distribution shape and the percentagebelow 10 microns for the sample.4.4.3

37、Volatile matter. Weigh to the nearest milligram approximately 5g of the specimen inatared,glass-stopperedweighingbottle. Removethe stopperanddrytoconstantweightat70to 75 C. Cool toroom temperature in a desiccator andweigh. Calculate the percent byweightvolatile matter as follows:Percent volatile mat

38、ter = 100(A B)Wwhere: A = Weight of specimen and stoppered bottle before heating in grams,B = Weight of specimen and stoppered bottle after heating in grams, andW = Weight of specimen before heating in grams.4.4.4 Heavy metal contamination. Determine the heavy metals content of the sample inaccordan

39、ce with EPA Method 6010B.4.4.5 Apparent density. Determine the apparentdensityinaccordance withASTM D1895,Method A, except that the sample shall be dried as specified in 4.4.3 prior to testing.5. PACKAGING5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specifiedinthec

40、ontractororder(see6.2).WhenactualpackagingofmaterielistobeperformedbyDoDor in-house contractor personnel, these personnel need to contact the responsible packagingactivitytoascertainrequisitepackagingrequirements.Packagingrequirementsaremaintainedby the Inventory Control Points packaging activities

41、within the Military Service or DefenseAgency,orwithinthemilitaryservicessystemcommands.Packaging dataretrieval isavailablefrom the managing Military Departments or Defense Agencys automated packaging files,CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible packaging activity.6. NOTES(This section con
