14、the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited herein (except for associated detail specifications, specification sheets or MS standards), the text of this specification shall take precedence. Nothing in this specification, however, shall supersede applicable
15、 laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3 . REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials and components. 3.1.1 Materials. All materials cited on Drawing 5-19-6505 and subsidiary drawings shall conform to the specifications listed thereon or to the specific characteristics set forth on the
16、 drawings. . 3.1.2 Components. All components for the gas filter shall conform to the specifications and drawings listed on Drawing 5-19-6505 and subsidiary draw- ings. 3.1.2.1 Terne steel parts. Terne steel parts shall be recoated after per- forating operations. 3.2 Manufacture and assembly. The ga
17、s filter shall be assembled and marked in accordance with Drawing 5-19-6505 (see 6.3). 3.3 Moisture content of charcoal sorbent. The moisture content of the char- coal sorbent in the filter shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as speci- fied in 4.4.4.1. 3.4 Leakage. The gas filter shall not leak
18、 when dichlorodifluoromethane (R-12) conforming to type 12 of BB-F-1421 is introduced at the influent side of the filter as specified in 4.4.4.2 at the following parameters: Airflow rate R-12 influent concentration Airstream relative humidity Airstream temperature 120 + 10 cfm 1000-v ppm O to 30 per
19、cent 75 + 5OF - A leak is defined as the detection of more than 1 volume part per million (V ppm) at the effluent side of the filter within 2 minutes after the introduction of R-12. 3.5 Airflow resistance. The airflow resistance of the filter shall not exceed 1.25 inches of water at a 600 cubic feet

21、 filter shall show no evidence of cracks, dents or charcoal granule leakage. The filter shall comply with airflow resistance requirements (3.5) and the DIIMP gas life shall be no less than 35 minutes when tested in accor- dance with 4.4.4.4 at the following test parameters: After the filter has been

After completion o all manufacturing steps, the gas filters charcoal shall comply with the CK gafi sorbent requirement of MIL-C-13724 for grade IV unaged charcoal whe
24、n tested in accordance with 4.4.4.5. 3.8 Preproduction. Prior to the start of regular production, a preproduc- tion lot of gas filters of the same type shall be produced in accordance with this specification for examination and test (see 4.3). 3.9 Workmanship. The filter shall be free from foreign m
25、atter such as dirt, grease, oil, or viscous material or damage such as cracked or distorted frame or torn cloth. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the con- tract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all

31、shall be placed in a bag made of one layer of fines cloth (used in the manufacture of the filter), and shall accompany its respective filters to the packaging step. The samples 4.1.2 Objective evidence. The contractor shall provide objective evidence acceptable to the contracting officer that the re
32、quirements of 3.1 and section 5 for which specific inspection has not been provided in this specification have been satisfied. shall then be packaged separately in air-tight containers. . 4.1.3 Government responsibility. Unless otherwise specified, the Government will be responsible for performance
33、of the tests specified in 4.4.4.4 and 4.4.4.5. Samples will be forwarded to the laboratory designated by the con- tracting officer (see 6.2). 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: (a) Preproduction inspection (see 4.3) (b) Quality
34、conformance inspection (see 4.4) 4.3 Preproduction inspection. 4.3.1 Lotting. A preproduction lot of four packaged filters and one empty sample unit pack container shall be manufactured in accordance with this speci- fication using the same methods, materials, equipment and processes as will be used
35、 during regular production. 4.3.2 Sampling. a . 4.3.2.1 For examination. Each filter in the preproduction lot shall be examined in accordance with 4.3.3.1. 4.3.2.2 For nondestructive tests. (a) Airflow resistance. Each filter in the preproduction lot shall be tested for airflow resistance. (b) R-12
36、leakage. Each filter in the preproduction lot shall be tested for R-12 leakage. (c) Moisture content of charcoal sorbent. A sample of charcoal (25 grams) shall be taken during the filling of each filter in the preproduction lot. Each sample shall be placed in a bag made from one layer of fines cloth

Each filter packaged in the required barrier bag shall be tested for container leakage in accordance with 4 . 4.4 . 7 . - 4.3.2.3 Por destructive tests. (a) Airflow resistance and DMMP gas life after rough handling. Four filt
39、ers shall be tested for airflow resistance and DMMP gas life after rough handling . (b) Heat seal seam separation test. The empty unit pack container bag from the preproduction lot shall have four representative heat seal seam specimens randomly selected from it for testing in accordance with 4.4.4.
40、8. 4.3.3 Inspection procedure. 4.3.3.1 For examination. Each packaged filter shall be examined for the defects listed in the classification of defects. 4.3.3.2 For nondestructive tests. (a) Airflow resistance. Airflow resistance testing shall be per- ormd in accordance with 4.4.4.3. (b) R-12 leakage
41、. R-12 leakage testing shall be performed in accor- dance with 4.4.4.2. (c) Moisture content. Determination of moisture content shall be in accordance with 4.4.4.1. This test shall be performed immediately after the unit pack container leakage test has been successfully completed for the filter repr
42、esented by the sample. (d) CK gas life of charcoal sorbent. Charcoal samples shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4.5. (e) Unit package container leakage test (SPI P5-19-6505). Each filter sealed in the required barrier bag shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4.7. 4.3.3.3 For destructive tests.
43、 (a) Airflow resistance and DMMJ? gas life after rough handling. After rough handling in accordance with 4.4.4.6, sample filters shall be tested for airflow resistance and DMMP gas life in accordance with 4.4.4.3 and 4. 4.4.4. (b) Heat seal seam separation test. The four representative heat seal sea
44、m specimens shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4.8. The preproduction lot shall comply with all requirements of this specificat
45、ion when examined and tested in accor- dance with 4.3.3 to be acceptable. The contractor shall obtain written approval from the contracting officer prior to proceeding with regular produc- tion. 4.4 Quality conformance inspection. 4.4.1 Lotting. A lot shall consist of the filters produced by one man
46、ufac- turer, at one plant, from the same materials, and under essentially the same manufacturing conditions. However, no more than one lot of charcoal sorbent shall be represented in any one lot of finished filters. 4.4.2 Sampling. 4.4.2.1 For examination. Sampling shall be conducted in accordance w
47、ith MIL-STD-105. 4.4.2.2 For nondestructive tests. (a) Airflow resistance. Each filter shall be tested for airflow resistance. (b) R-12 leakage. Each filter shall be tested for R-12 leakage. (c) Moisture content. A sample of charcoal (25 grams) shall be taken during the filling of each filter. Each
48、filter shall be placed in a bag made from one layer of fines cloth (used in the manufacture of the filter), and shall experience the same conditions that its respective filter experiences until the filter is sealed into the required barrier bag during packaging. (d) CK gas life of charcoal sorbent.
49、A sample specimen of charcoal sorbent (approximately 1 pound) shall be taken during the filling of four fil- ters, chosen at random. Each sample specimen shall be placed in a.bag made of one layer of fines cloth (used in the manufacture of the filter), and shall accompany its respective filter to the packaging step.
