13、MENTS 3.1 Materials and components. 3.1.1 Materials. All materials cited on TDPL 13-22-35 or on the subsidiary drawings shall conform to the specifications lsited thereon, or to the specific characteristics set forth on the drawings. 3.1.2 Components. All components of the grenade shall conform to t
14、he speci- fications and drawings listed on TDPL 13-22-35 and subsidiary drawings. 3.2 Filling and assembly. The grenade body shall be filled with il5 + 5 grams of CS pellets and i85 + 5 grams of fuel mixture VI. be evenly dispersed in the fuel mixture before consolidation. of fill shall be consolida
15、ted in the body at the dead load of 9000 to 10,000 pounds; four increments of fill shall be used. and fuel mixture shall be introduced in such a manner as to provide a rela- tively smooth surface after consolidation. The diameter of the center hole shall not be less than 3/16 inch diameter after app

The grenade shall function as follows when tested in accordance with 4.4 . 4 . 1 : (a) Emit a cloud of smoke under pressure wit
17、hout interruption for no less than i5 seconds and no more than 35 seconds. (b) Move no more than 25 feet in any one direction from the original position when it is functioned on hard packed earth free from vegetation. (c) Not flame at both ends for more than 20 percent of the total burn- ing time no
18、r at one end for 30 percent of the total burning time. (d) The time from release of the fuze striker until emission of smoke under pressure shall not exceed 7 seconds (delay time) . separation of grenade seams, top, side or bottom during functioning. The grenade shall be free from contamination (foreign matter, oil and grease) and damage such as dents, cracks or deformation which coul
20、d impair its use. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the con- tract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. 22、erein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. Al1 ite
23、ms must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibilit
24、y of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all require- ments of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize sub- mission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accepta
25、nce of defective material. 4.2 Classification of inspections, The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: ( a) (b) Preproduction inspect ion ( see 4-3) . Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 Preproduction inspection. 4.3.1 - Lot. Prior to the start of regular pro
26、duction, a preproduction lot of 1201 grenades or production from one shift, whichever is greater, shall be pro- duced using the same methods, materials, equipment and processes as will be used during regular production, 4.3.2 Sampling. 4.3.2,l For examination. Sampling shall be conducted in accordan
27、ce with MIL-STD-105. 4.3.2.2 For destructive tests. Sampling for burning time shall be conducted in accordance with MIL-STD-414 , level II (example B-3) . excessive movement, delay, intermittent smoke, seam separation and flamers shall be equivalent to that segment of the sample from MIL-STD-414 as
28、specified in MIL-STD-105, level S-4. The sample for duds , 4.3.3 Inspection procedure. 4.3.3.1 For examination. Sample grenades shall be tested in accor- dance with 4.4.4 and table I. first grenade in the sample consecutively through the entire sample. Evalua- tion for the remaining attributes in table I shall

Sample grenades and the level A preparation for delivery shall be examined in accordance with the classification of d
35、efects ( 4 . 4.3 . 4) and MIL-STD-105 . 4.4.3.2 For destructive test. Sample grenades shall be tested in accordance with 4.4.4 and table I. Evaluation for burning time shall begin with the first grenade in the sample consecutively through that quantity specified in MIL-STD- 414, level I. butes in ta

Tests shall be conducted as follows: Submerge the grenade in water, having a temperature of O“ to 10F above the temperature of the grenade, to a depth of 1 to 2 inches for 35 + 5 minutes. within 1 h
41、our after removal from water. Test as specified in 4.4.4.1 4.4.4.1 Functioning. Pull out the safety pin and throw the grenade downwind on the ground or into a suitable enclosure (see 6.3). 4.4.4.2 Fuze failure. Grenade failure solely due to malfunctioning of the fuze shall be refuzed in order to com
42、plete the quantity of data required for evaluation of the lag time and burning time performance (see 6.4). 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Packing, level A. Grenades shall be individually packaged as shown in Drawing 13-9-120. 5.2 Packing, level A. Sixteen grenades, unit packed as specified in 5.1 shall be packed
43、together, fuze end up, in one layer, in an overseas-type or class wood shipping container conforming to PPP-B-621, class 2, style 4, type 2, grade A. Fiberboard pads, conforming to type CF, grade WC, variety SW of PPP-F-320, shall completely separate the contents fromthe shipping con- tainer. Additi
44、onal pads, as required shall be used to insure a tight pack. Inside dimensions of the wood shipping container shall be 11-5/8 by ii/-5/8 by 6-5/8 inches (length, width and depth, respectively) . forming to Drawing 13-19-38 shall be placed inside the shipping container on top of the grenades. 45、pping container shall be closed and strapped in accordance with PPP-B-621 and its appendix, using galvanized, flat steel strappng conforming to class B, type I of QQ-S-781.
