12、document shall take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide sample, Samples of the end item, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). Variations from this - document may appear in the sample, in which case this document shall govern. . 3.2 First article. Whe

13、n specified, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.4). 3.3 Materials (see 6.5). 3.3.1 Cloth, nylon, The material for the hammock shall be nylon cloth, Olive Green 106, water repellent conforming to MIL-C-43128. 3e3.2 Webbing, nylon. The nylon webbing shall be o

14、ne inch wide conforming to MIL-W-17337 except the colorfastness requirement for crocking shall not apply. The color sial1 be Olive Drab 7 to-match the standard sample (see 6.3) e 3.3.3 Thread, polyester. The thread for all stitching shall be type I, class 1, size E, swb-class A conforming to V-T-$.

15、3e3.3.1 Color and colorfastness. The thread shall be dyed Olive Drab S-1, C.A. 66022 and shall show good fastness to weathering. e 3.3.4 Cord, polyester. The cord for the tie lines and toggle connector lines shall be 3/32 inch diameter, Olive Drab 7, conforming to NIL-C-43256. The cord for the suspe

16、nsion lines shall be 3/16 inch diameter, Olive Drab 7, conforming to MIL-C-43678. 3-3.5 Rubber, The rubber material for the rain stop disc shall be in accordance with MIL-R-3065 and conform to type S, class SC, grade 615, 3/32 inch thick of MIL-STD-417. 3.3.6 Toggle, plastic. The plastic toggle shal

17、l ke fabricated from The plastic material used in the rod stock shall meet polystyrene rod stock. the requirements of either type II or III, class 2 of L-P-398. shall be black in color. 19、n. The construction shall conform in all respects to Drawing 2-1-909 and as specified herein. 3.4.1 Stitching, machine. All stitching, except bartacking, shall conform to FED-STD-751. The stitch type for all stitching, except where indicated on drawing as zig zag stitching, shall be 301 with 8 to 10

20、 stitches per inch. For zig zag stitching the stitch type shall be 304 with 12 to 16 stitches per inch. counting points along one side only. Stitches per inch for type 304 stitching shall be determined by 3.4.1.1 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitching, except W-W, shalI be backstitched or oversti

21、tched 1 inch minimum except where ends are turned under in a hem or held down by other stitching. On W-W stitching, all ends shall be backstitched or overstitched 1/2 inch minimum. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching resulting in loose bobbin or top thread, or

22、 excessively tight stitching resulting in puckering of the materials sewn. The lock shall be embedded in the materials sewn. .3.4.1.1.1 Repairs of type 301 stitching. Repairs of type 301 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during stitching, the stitching sha

23、ll be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1 inch (1/2 inch box W-W stitching back of the end of the stitching. - i/ b. Thead breaks, or two or more consecutive skipped r run-off stitches noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item) shall be repaired by overstitching. Th

24、e stitching shall start a minimum of 1 inch in back of the defective area (1/2 inch for W-W stitching), continue over the defective area and continue a minimum of 1 inch (1/2 inch for W-W stitching) beyond the defective area onto the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall“be

25、repaired by removing the defective stitching, without damaging the materials, and restitching in the required manner. - i/ - I/ When making the above repairs the ends of the stitching are not required to be backstitched. 3.4.12 Type 304 stitching. Ends of type 304 stitching shall be secured by bunch

26、ing (forming a tack) the first, and last, three to five stitches on top of each other or directly adjacent to each other, i.e., no spacing. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching resulting in loose bobbin or top thread, or excessively tight stitching resulting in

27、 puckering of the materials sewn. The lock shall be embedded in the materials sewn. 3.4.1.2.1 Repairs of type 304 stitching. All repairs shall be as specified for type 301 stitching in accordance with 3.4.1.1.la and 3.4.1.1.lb except substitute “three stitches“ for “1 inch“ wherever “1 inch appears.

Unless otherwise specified, bartacks shall be 3/4 - + 1/8 inch long, 1/8 + 1/32 inch wide and shall contain 42 stitches, Bartacking s

29、hall be free from thread breaks and loose stitching. 3.4.1.4 Stitch margins. Unless otherwise specified, all stitching margins shall be 1/8 - + 1/16 inch. 3.4.1.5 Automatic stitching, Automatic stitching machines may be used to perform any of the stitch patterns provided the requirements for the sti

30、tch pattern, stitches per inch, and size and type of thread are met; and at least three tying, overlapping or backstitches are used to secure the ends of the stitching. 3.4.1.6 Thread ends. All thread ends shall be trimmed to 1/4 inch maximum length, 3.4.2 Fusing of ends of polyester cord and nylon

31、webbing. Unless otherwise specified, all ends of polyester cord and nylon webbing shall be fused. The apparatus used to fuse the webbing and cord ends shall be capable of providing sufficient heat to provide smooth ends with the cut ends of the webbing and cord yarns all fused together. 3.4.3 Cuttin

32、g elastic cord. The elastic cord specified in 3.3.7 shall be cut with a heated knife or wire or otherwise fused after cutting to prevent the braided nylon sleeve from fraying. 3.4.4 Repairs. Except as otherwise specified herein, repairs are not allowed to be made to the hammock. 3.5 Marking. The ide

33、ntification marking shall be applied in the location showri on Drawing 2-1-909 and shall conform to type IV, class 5 of DDD-L-20. The letters “US“ shall be applied in the location and in the size characters indicated on Drawing 2-1-909 and shall conform to type IV, class 9 of DDD-L-20. Fastness of t

34、he class 9 marking shall be as specified for class 5 marking. 3.6 Instruction tag. Each hammock shall be furnished with an instruction tag. be with a water insoluble ink (see 4.4.1.1). The tag shall approximate 7-1/2 by 5-5/8 inches folded in the middle to form four printed pages in book form 3-3/4

35、by 5-5/8 inches. Approximate dimensions are furnished as a guide only. On page 1, the illustration shown on figure 1 shall be printed. On page 2, the instructions shown on figure 2 shall be printed. On page 3, the illustration shown on figure 3 shall be printed. On page 4, the illustration shown on

36、figure 4 shall be printed. the folded edge for a tying cord. The size of the illustrations and characters on the figures shall be the same scale as shown. A tie cord shall be furnished no finer than 5-ply cotton cord, (see 4.4.1.1) doubled to not less than 8 inches long. The tie cord shall be attached to the instruct

38、ion tag by passing the loop end through the punched hole and then by passing the free ends through the loop. The instruction tag shall be tied with a square knot to one of the hammock spreader bar tabs. 3.7 Workmanship. The finished hammock, with assembled components as required, shall conform to th

39、e quality es$ablished by this document. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality levels. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performa

40、nce of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Gove

41、rnment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Certificate of compliance. Where certificates of compliance are submitted, the Government reserv

42、es the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification. 4.2 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspec

43、tion. When a first article is required (see 6.2), it shall be examined for the defects specified in 4.4.3 and 4,4.4 and tested for the characteristics specified in 4.4.5. The presence of any defect or failure to pass any test shall be cause for rejection of,the first article. 4.4 Quality conformance

44、 inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless othe

45、rwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualified in this document or applicable purchase document. 4.4.1.1 Certification. Inspection shall be made at any point or during any

47、 phase of the manufacturing process to determine whether construction details which cannot be examined in the-finished product are in accordance with specified requirements. This inspection shall include verification of the cut lengths for the suspension lines, tie lines, toggle connector lines and

48、poncho suspension loops are as specified. Whenever nonconformance is noted, corrections shall be made to the items affected and lot in-process. Items which cannot be corrected shall be removed from product ion. 4.4.3 End item visual examination. The end item shall be examined for the defects listed

49、in table I. The lot size shall be expressed in units of hammocks. -The sample unit shall be one hammock. The inspection level shall be II and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 2.5 for major defects and 10.0 for total (major and minor combined) defects. * TABLE I.
