When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3.
16、 3.2 Materials and components. 3.2.1 Rope, manila. The manila rope for class A shall conform to type I, class 2 of MIL-R-1670 (see 6.6). 3.2.2 Rope, sisal. The sisal rope or class B shall conform to type II,- class 2 of MIL-R-1670 (see 6.6). 3.2.3 Rope, cotton, twisted. The cotton twisted rope for c
17、lass C shall conform to type IV, class 2 of MIL-R-1670 (see 6.6). 3.2.4 Cord, cotton, braided. The braided cotton cord for class D shall conform to type I, class 3 of T-C-571 (see 6.6). 3.2.5 Rope, jute. The polyester rope for class G shall be a
19、 continuous filament polyester fiber, conforming to MIL-R-30500 in sizes specified. The ends of the rope shall b-e cut off squarely and shall be securely whipped, taped, or heat sealed to prevent untwisting or fraying. The color of the rope shall be Olive Drab 7. When spliced rope is require, eye sp
20、lices shall be accomplished with a minimum of four full tucks. Tapered spliced are permitted. 3.2.8 Thread, polyester. The color of the rope shall be as specified in the
25、 appli=,ble subsidiary rope specification unless otherwise specified in the applicabl? erid use Specification or contract (see 6.2). 3.4 Construction, 3.4.1 Stitching,. machine. All machine stitching shall confor-m to FED-STD-751 for stitch type indicated. 3.4.1.1 Machine serving. Machine serving sh
26、all be as specified on the applicable referenced figura, A pure silicone fluid, type DC 200 or equal may be used in machine serving to lubricate the thread if required in the manufacturing process. Machine serving the ends shall be accomplished by using stitch type 304 or 308, 12 to 16 stitches per
27、inch. The stitching shall extend at least 1-1/2 inches from the free end of the rope. 3.4.1.2 Footstops. The machine stitched footstops (type 11) shall be stitched the entire length with stitch type 301, 5 to 7 stitches per inch and shall then be knotted mechanically as shown on figure 13. 3.4.1.3 S
28、ewn eye. The sewn eye as shown on figure 11 shall be finished with stitch type 304, 12 to 16 stitches per inch. A minimum of 3 inches of overcast stitching shall be used to join the lengths of rope together. The stitch shall be run off the joined strands onto the longer single strand a minimum of 1/
29、2 inch. 3.4.1.4 Thread breaks, Thread breaks in stitching shall be overstitched not less than 1 inch at each break on stitch type 301 and not less than 3/4 inch on type 304 stitching, 3.4.2 Hand serving, Hand serving as specified on referenced figures shall be securely and neatly accomplished with d
30、ouble strands of twine specified in 3.2.9. Waxed twine will be allowed. 3.4.3 Splicing. Unless otherwise specified, all splices, shall have three tucks. Unless otherwise specified, the ends of all strands shall be clipped after the splice is completed to a length of not less than 1 inch nor more tha
31、n 1-1/4 inches, 3.4.4 Eye size. The size of the eyes shall be as specified on the applicable referenced figiire and shall be the measurement of the inside loop when stretched taut. 3.4.5 Dimensions. Any dimension for lengths of lines specified in table I and any dimension specified in the referenced

Knots shall be tied as specified in the applicable figure, All knots shall be pulled tight mechanically so that t
33、hey cannot be readily untied by hand. 3.5 Workmanship. The tent lines shall contain no kinks, broken or loose ends, bulged strands, strand marks or loosely twisted strands, The lines shall be clean and free of grease or oil stains and shall have no objectianable odor. There shall be no cut, chafe, f
34、ray or abrasion marks, Braided cord shall be evenly braided so as to contain no open places or breaks in continuity of braid or soft spots. The finish of the cord shall not be gummy or tacky nor cause the cord to check or crack. O 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Un
35、less otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible or the performance of al1 inspection Pequirements (examinations and tests) as cpecified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facil
36、ities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to ensure supplies and services co
37、nform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overal inspection system or qulity program. The absence of any inspection requiremen
38、ts in the Specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government or acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to asce
39、rtain conformance to requirements, .however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as f
40、ollows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. When a first article is required (see 3.1 and 6.2), it shall be examined for the dimensions specified in table I and for the defects listed in table II. not as specieied shall be

Unless otherwise specified, samp
42、l!ng for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105. 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified, or qualifi
43、ed in this specification or applicable purchase document. 4.4.2 End item visual examination. The end items shall be examined for the defects listed in table II. The lot size shall be expressed in units of tent lines. The sample unit shall be one tent line. The inspection level shall Ge level I (see
