SCOPE 1.1 Scope.- This specification covers the requirements for vinyl fi

2、nished, embossed, corrected grain, cattlehide leather (see 6.1). types, as specified (see 6.2). 1.2 Classification.- The leather shall be furnished in the following Type I Type II Type III - Grain side dyed and finished in Black, Shade 111, em- - Grain side dyed and finished in Hatters Green, Shade

APPLICmLE DOCllMEXITS 2.1 The following documents of the issue in effect on date of invita- tion for bids or

5、by suppliers in connection with specific procurement functions should be obtained from the procuring activity or as directed by the contracting officer. ) 3.1 The requirements specified in 3.5.1, 3.5.2, section 5, and in re- lated provisions of section c, apply only to leather purchased directly by

7、her shall match the standard sample (see 6.4). 3.3 Material.- The leather shall be mad-e from cattlehide. 3.4. Tannage.- The leather shall be chrome tanned, vegetable tanned or vegetable and chrome combination tanned. Types II and III leather may be impregnated with a resin during the tanning proces

8、s sr the finishing opera- tion in order to provide the leather with the desired firmness and stiff- ness (see 6.3). 3.5 Physical requirements. - 3.5.1 Trim (form and area). - The leather shall be furnished in the f om of sides, backs, bends or shoulders and shall be trimmed to conform with the defin

9、itions as listed under “Definition of Terms“ in KK-L-311. The area in terms of square feet shall be legibly marked in the butt area on the flesh side of the leather except that shouiders shall be marked on the flesh side in the corner formed by the straight edge cut and belly cut. 3.5.2 Thickness.-

10、The thickness of the leather shall be as specified (see 6.2) when tested as specified in 4.3. 3.5.3 Color.- The color of the leather shall be as required for the type specified (see 1.2). 3.5.4 Finish.- The grain surface shall be buffed or snuffed only to the extent that is necessary to remove super

15、ned leather shall not take place at or below gOOC when tested as specified in 4.3. 3.6 Chemical requirements.- The leather shall have a minimum (pH) value of 3.3 when tested as specified in 4.3. 3.7 Workmanship.- The finished leather shall conform to the quality and grade of product established by t

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection .- Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection req

17、uirements as specified herein Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities orbany commercial laboratoyy acceptable to the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed nec

18、essary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4 1.1 Certificate of compliance. - submitted, the Government reserves the right to check test such items to determine the validity of the certification.
