SCDPE 1.1 Scope. This document covers three size
2、s of waterproof field pack liners (see 6.1). 1.2 Classification. The liners shall be of one type and three sizes (see 6.2). Schedule of Sizes Size 1 - 17-3/4 inches high by 21-1/2 inches in circumference. Size 2 - 27 inches high by 39 inches in circumference. Size 3 - 30 inches high by 50-1/2 inches

15、ples when furnished are solely for guidance and Variations from the document may appear in the sample, information (see 6.3). in which case the document shall govern. * 3.2 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase order, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4
16、.3, 6.2, and 6.5). 3.3 Materials. * 3.3.1 Polyurethane coated cloth. The polyurethane coated cloth shall conform tothe following requirements, or as an alternate, shall conform to type I of MIL-C-43473. 3.3.1.1 Base cloth. The base cloth shall conform to type I of MIL-C-21108. The color shall be Oli
17、ve Green 106. 3.3.1.2 Coating compound. The coating compound shall be a composikion of polyurethane suitably compounded and pigmented to meet the requirements herein. If the polyurethane is plasticized, only phthalate or phosphate ester plasticizers shall be used. The color shall match Olive Green 2

21、/ The coating shall not become stiff and brittle nor soft and tacky and there shall be no evidence of cracking or crazing under visual examination after 100 hours exposure. - 2/ IfAppreciable change in colorff means a change which is immediately noticeable in comparing the test specimen with the ori

If closer inspection or a change of angle of light is required to make apparent a slight change of color, the change is not considered appreciable. - 3/ The coated cloth shall show no lifting of the coating, no tackiness, no pick off of the coating, and no adherence of t
23、he coating to itself greater than scale rating No. 3 (slight blocking). 3.3.2 Adhesive. Adhesive for laying of turned seams, bonding of strapping over seams, sealing the bartack stitching, and cementing the hem shall be a urethane base solvent cement activated by addition of an isocyanate type accel
24、erator. The cord shall conform to type IIA of MIL-C-5040. The c
25、olor shall be Olive Drab 7. * 3.3.4 Thread. The thread used for stitching shall conform to type I or II, class 1, subclass B, size B, Olive Drab S-1 C.A. 66022 of V-T-285. The thread shall show good fastness to light. - * 3.3.5 Strapping. The strapping used to strap all seams shall be made of the co
26、ated cloth specified in 3.3.1.3. The strapping shall be bias cut and after being adhered to the liner shall measure not less than 1 inch wide. The strapping suppliers splice or fabricators overlap splice may be used, limited to one such splice per seam. The bottom seam shall be completed by overlapp
27、ing the ends 1 - + 1/4 inch. No other splicing or overlapping is authorized. 3.4 Dusting powder. When used, the dusting powder shall be whiting, talc or other finely divided mineral material which does not support mildew growth. 3.5 Design. The design of the liners shall be in accordance with figure
28、 1. The coated side of the cloth shall be on the outside of the liner. 3.6 Construction. 3.6.1 Stitches, seams, and stitching. All stitches, seams and stitching shall conform to FED-STD-751. Stitch type 301 shall be used for the hem and stitch types 301 and 401 shall be used for all other seams, usi
29、ng not less than 8 or more than 10 stitches per inch. Whenever stitch type 401 is used, the looper (i.e. the under thread) shall be on the inside of the liner. The needle shall be the smallest size which can be used with the specified thread in order to. minimize the size of the hole made in the fab
30、ric by the needle. The addition of any lubricant to the polyester sewing thread prior to or during the sewing operation is prohibited. 3.6.1.1 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitchings shall be backstitched or overstitched not less than 1 inch except where ends are turned under or caught in other s
31、eams or stitching. Ends of a continuous line of stitching shall overlap not less than 1 inch. Thread tensions shall be maintained so that there will be no loose stitching resulting in loose bobbin or top thread or excessively tight stitching resulting in puckering of the materials sewn. The lock sha
32、ll be imbedded in the materials sewed. 3.6.1.1.1 Repairs of type 301 stitching. a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during stitching, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1 inch back of the end of the stitching. 5 Licensed by Information Handling Servic

Thread breaks or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches noted during inspection of the item shall be repaired by overstitching. stitching shall start a minimum of 1 inch in back of the defective area, continue over the defective,area,
34、 and continue a minimum of 1 inch beyond the defective area onto the existing stitching. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repaired by removing the defective stitching without damaging the materials, and restitching in the required manner. The When making the above repairs in a. and b. a
35、bove, the ends of the stitching are not required to be backstitched. 3.6.1.2 Type 401 stitching. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose or excessively tight stitching resulting in puckering of the materials sewn. All repairs shall be in accordance with 3.6.1.1.1 a. and 3.6
36、.1.1.1 b. except that the stitching break shall be repaired. by stitching 1-1/2 inches in back of, and in front of the break. 3.6.2 Bartack. Bartack shall be 1/2 + 1/16 inch long and 1/8 2 1/32 inch wide and shall contain 28 stitches. Thebartack shall be free from thread breaks and loose or tight st
37、itching. 3.6.3 Thread ends. All thread ends shall be trimmed to 1/11 inch maximum length. 3.7 Manufacturing operations requirements. The use of drill holes is prohibited in the construction of the liners. The tie cord attachment shall be reinforced with a 2 + 1/8 inch diameter patch of coated cloth
38、material which shall be cemented to-the inside of the liner with the adhesive specified in 3.3.2. The bartack shall be through all layers of material. Liners of each size shall be made with the coating on the outside of the liner. 3.7.1 Liner construction. The liner shall be constructed from the coa
39、ted cloth specified in 3.3.1.3. All joining seams shall be shingled and single stitched (seam type SSa-I), laid in cement, turned to one side and cemented down forming a 3/8 inch seam on the inside of the liner. Strapping specified in 3.3.5 shall then be cemented in a centered position over the stit
40、ched side seam and bottom seam with the coated side of strapping contacting the inside of the seam. Cementing shall be thorough with no loose edges and the cement shall not extend more than 3/8 of an inch on either side of the strapped seam. The strapped seams shall meet the hydrostatic requirement
41、of 3.8.1. 3.7.2 - Hem. The hem shall be formed by turning the top of the liner 1/2 + 1/8 inch. type EFa-1. sealant or strapping to the hem is not required. Stitch 1/8 + 1/16 inch from the raw edge using stitch type 301 and seam The fTnished hem shall measure 1/2 - + 1/8 inch. Application of 3.7.2.1
42、Hem (alternate construction). Alternatively the hem may be formed by turning the top of the liner 1/2 inch and firmly cementing using adhesive specified in 3.3.2. 43、720C e 3.7.3 Tie cord. The tie cord shallbe made of the cord specified in 3.3.3. The cord shall be bartacked to the outside of the liner, through the strapped side seam and through the reinforcement patch which is cemented to the inside of the liner. The cord shall be 1-7/8 + 1/8 inch from the top e
44、dge of the liner. The cord shall be bartacked with a 172 inch bartack as specified in 3.6.2 (see figure I). The bartack shall be positioned parallel to the cord and centered in the cord which is perpendicular to the back seam. The bartack shall be made waterproof on the inside with the adhesive spec
45、ified in 3.3.2. When attached to the liner, the tie cord for size No. 1 liner shall measure not less than 20 inches, the tie cord for size No. 2 liner shall measure not less than 38 inches, and the tie cord for size No. 3 liner shall measure not less than 60 inches when measured in the relaxed state
46、; and the ends of the tie cord shall not be uneven in length by more than 3 inches. The ends of the cord shall be seared or fused to prevent unraveling. rn “ i 3.8 Seam performance. 3.8.1 Hydrostatic resistance. The joining seams and the area where the tie cord is bartacked to the liner shall withst
47、and a hydrostatic pressure of 25 centimeters for 1 minute without leaking when tested as specified in 4.4.6. 3.8.2 Blocking. Resistance of seams to blocking shall not exceed No. 3 when tested as specified in 4.4.6. 3.8.3 Adhesion. There shall be no more than 1/8 inch peeling when strapping adhered t
48、o the liner is tested for adhesion as specified in 4.4.6. 3.9 Measurements. 3.9.1 Size No. 1. The finished liner shall be 17-3/4 + 1/2 inches in height - and 21-1/2 - + 1/2 inches in circumference. 3.9.2 Size No. 2. The finished liner shall be 27 + 1/2 inches in height and - 39 - + 1/2 inches in cir
49、cumference. 3.9.3 Size No. 3. The finished liner shall be 30 + 1/2 inches in height and - 50-1/2 - + 1 inch in circumference. 3.10 Figure. Figure 1 is furnished for information purposes only. To the extent of any inconsistencies between the written document and the figure, the document shall govern. 3.11 Label. Each liner shall have identification and instruction labels located on the outside of the liner adjacent to the tie cord (see figure 1). The labels shall conform to type III or IV, class 5 of DDD-L-20. The instruction label shall be printed below the iden
