REQUIREMENTS * 3.1 First article. When specified in the contract or purchase ord
14、er, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 4.3, 6.2, and 6.4). 3.2 Guide samples. Guide samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). Variation from this document may appear in the sample, in which case this document shall govern.
15、 * 3.3 Material. The material shall be 36-inches wide, synthetic-fiber parachute cloth conforming to type D of MIL-C-498 except that the requirements for tearing strength, elongation, air permeability and finish shall not apply and the cloth shall be scoured, heat set and calendered. The choloroform
16、 soluble material of the finished cloth shall not exceed 2.0 percent when tested as specified in 4.4.1. 3.3.1 Color and colorfastness. The color shall be Fluorescent Orange Shade No. 338 and shall match the standard sample when tested as specified in 4.4.1. The finished cloth shall show fastness t l
17、aundering, chlorine bleaching, crocking and light equal to or better than the standard sample when tested as specified in 4.4.1. When no standard sample is available, the finished cloth shall show ltgoodll fastness to laundering, crocking, light and chlorine bleaching when tested as specified in 4.4
18、.1. 3.4 Label, instruction. Each panel shall have an instruction label conforming to type IV, class 3 of DDD-L-20. Insert panel, folded 9 by 2-1/2 inches with instruction label visible, into survival panel pocket located inside knife pocket or right thigh pocket. Do not remove panel from pocket until needed. Launder coveralls with panel int
20、act within pocket. Each pair of coveralls shall have one panel. 3.5 Construction. The panel shall be formed by cutting the 36-inch wide cloth 36 2 112 inches long. The panel shall not be off square by more than 1 inch. throughout the full width of the cut width of the cloth. * 3.5.1 Fusing of cut en

Locate instruction label so that it will appear on the outside of the folded panel
22、 when folded as specified in 5.1 .?. 3.7 4enioval of defective panels during spreading and cutting. During the spreading and cutting process, panels having material defects or damages that are classified as defects in 4.4.2 shall be removed from production. 3.8 Workmanship. The finished panel shall
23、conform to the quality of product established by this document and the occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable- acceptable quality levels. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is
24、responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Ekcept as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved
25、 by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in this document where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements
26、 of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this document shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirement in the document shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or suppl
27、ies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of defective material. 4.1.2 Responsibil
28、ity for dimensional requirements. IJnless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for assuring that all specified dimensions have been met. be examined on the end item, inspection shall be made at any point or at all points in the manufacturing process ne

O * 4.4.1 Component and material inspection. In accordance with 4.1, components and materials shall be inspected in accor
32、dance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this document or applicable purchase document. In addition, testing shall be performed on the component listed in table I for the characteristics noted. Unless otherwise indicated, te
33、sting shall be conducted in accordance with FED-STD-191. All requirements are applicable to the sample unit. All test reports shall contain the individual values utilized in expressing the final results. Unless otherwise specified in subsidiary documents , sampling shall be in accordance with the fo

43、tization examination. The fully packaged and palletized end items shall be examined for the defects listed below. The lot size shall be expressed in units of palletized unit loads. The sample unit shall be one palletized unit load, fully packaged. The inspection level shall be S-1 and the AQL, expre

Preservation shall be level A or Commercial as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A. Each panel shall be neatly folded to measure approximately 9 inches in
46、 length by 2-1/2 inches in width with the instruction label visible. Four folded panels shall be inserted in a snug-fitting clear polyethylene film bag of 0.00125-inch thickness (2 25 percent tolerance). The bag shall be formed with heat sealed seams that are straight, continuous and parallel to eac
47、h other and to the formed edges of the bag. The final closure of the bag shall be heat sealed with the seal made as close as possible to open end. * 5.1.2 Commercial. Panels shall be preserved in accordance with ASTM D 3951. 5.2 Packing Packing shall be level A, B, or Commercial as specified (see 6.
48、2). 5.2.1 Level A packing. Four hundred panels, preserved as specified in 5.1 , shall be packed in a snug- fitting fiberboard shipping container conforming to style RSC-L, grade V2s of PPP-B-636. shall be fitted with a box liner conforming to type CF, class weather- resistant, variety DW, grade V15c
49、 of PPP-B-636. Each shipping container shall be closed in accordance with method III, waterproofed in accordance with method V and reinforced as specified in the appendix of PPP-B-636, except that the inspection shall be in accordance with 4.4.3.
