SCOPE 1.1 This specification covers on

2、e type of combination passive - day- light tank commanders periscope designated Periscope, Tank: M36E1. The periscope is a part of the fire control system in the 105MM Gun Tank, M60 Series and is used for observation and machine gun sighting. 2, APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 The following documents, of t

REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Fabrication.- The periscope shall be manufactured in accordanc

8、e with Drawing F11727460 and drawings pertaining thereto. shall have met their respective specifications (except that they need not be subjected to separate temperature and vibration tests) and be in- terchangeable within the requirements of this specification. 13、all meet all the requirements of this specification at standard ambient temperature, plus 60“ to plus 90“ Fahrenheit (F), after having been exposed and ther- mally stabilized at temperatures of minus 80“ and plus 160F. 3.4.2 Operating temperatures.- The periscope shall meet the applicable requiremen

14、ts of 3.5 while exposed and thermally stabilized at temperatures of minus 40“ and plus 150F. 3.5 Operability. 3.5.1 Elevation input shaft.- The running torque required to rotate the elevation input shaft through maximum elevation and depression, shall not exceed 10 pound-inches (lb-ins) at standard

15、ambient temperature or 13 lb-ins at extreme temperatures of minus 40“ and plus 150F. 3.5.2 Diopter movement- Daylight and Passive.- The running torque required to rotate the daylight diopter movement through a minimum range of minus 3.0 to plus 3.0 diopters and the passive diopter movement through a

16、 minimum range of minus 4.0.to plus 4.0 diopters shall be within the limits of 1.5 and 6.0 lb-ins when checked at standard ambient temperature. checked at the temperature conditions specified in 3.4.2, the running torque shall not exceed 15 lb-ins. 17、ng torque required to rotate Ring 11733436 through the range specified in 3.8.7 shall be within the limits of 4.0 and 14.0 lb-ins when checked at standard ambient tempera- ture. When checked at the temperature conditions specified in 3.4.2, the running torque shall not exceed 24.0 lb-ins. 3.5.4 Dise

18、ngagement of boresight knob locks - Daylight and Passive.- The direct force required to disengage each boresight knob from the lock position shall be within the limits of 2.0 to 5.0 pounds (lbs) when checked at standard ambient temperature. When checked at the temperature condi- tions specified in 3

19、.4.2, the direct force shall not exceed 9.0 lbs. 3.5.5 Rotation of boresight knobs - Daylight and Passive.- The runn- ing torque required to rotate each boresight knob through the travel range specified in 3.8.3.1.1 and 3.8.3.1.2 respectively, shall be within the limits of 0.5 and 5.0 lb-ins when ch

20、ecked at standard ambient temperature. When checked at the temperature conditions specified in 3.4.2 the running torque shall not exceed 8.0 lb-ins. 3.5.6 Shutter lever and on-off switch - Passive.- The torque required to rotate the shutter lever from the off to on position shall be within the limit

21、s of 4.5 to 6.5 lb-ins when checked at standard ambient temperature. 22、ghtness control - Passive.- This requirement shall be met at standard ambient temperature and the tempera- ture conditions specified in 3.4.2. operable through the full limits of the rheostat. 23、ifier tube and reticle projector lamp energized by the application of +24 -i- 6.0 MC to Contact 11733497 (Reference Drawing F11733401). The periscope shall be vibrated in a vertical plane at a constant frequency of 30 cycles per second (cps) with an amplitude of 1/6 inch (1/8 inch totalexcursion) fo

24、r a period of 5 minutes plus or minus 15 seconds. There shall be no failure or flicker of light emission from the image intensifier tube nor the reticle projector lamp during vibration and the periscope shall show no evidence of physical failure subsequent to vibra- tion. Following the vibration tes

25、t the periscope shall meet the require- ments of 3.8.3.2, 3.8.4.1, 3.8.4.2, 3.8.9, 3.8.2, 3.8.3.1.1, 3.8.3.1.2, 3.8.5, 3.8.6, 3.8.7, 3.8.8, 3.2, 3.1, 3.7 and then each module (see 3.1) shall meet their own respective post-vibration test requirements. 3.7 Cleanliness.- With the periscope disassembled

26、, the three modular units shall meet the following requirements. a. Defects.- There shall be no evidence of moisture, grease, finger prints, condensates, fractures, and adhesive separations on any glass component when viewing through either end of eachmodule (including the unity power system). b. Di

(1) Body assembly (dayliRht).- When viewed through the eye- 5 piece, there shall be no more than three dirt particles appearing within a 50 mil diameter central field of view. three dirt particles appearing outside the specified field of view. Focus passive elbow assembly by rotating objective focusing Ring 11733436 for best resolution of target (1200 meters) image. 3.8.2 Parallax.- Parallax between the reticle and the image of a target at 1200 meters shall not exceed 0.2 mil. 3.8.3 Collimation.- Thes

34、e requirements shall be met prior to meeting the requirements of 3.6. a. mil to Datum Plane “E“. An incident line of sight which is perpendicular within 0.2 b. Elevation knob travel.- The boresight knob shall provide a minimum travel of 5.0 mils up and 8.0 mils down from the co

36、llimation sett- ing of 3.8.3a. b. Deflection knob travel.- The boresight knob shall provide a minimum travel of 6.5 mils in each direction from the collimated sett- ing of 3.8.3a. 5 . 38、area. a. Elevation knob travel.- The boresight knob shall provide a minimum travel of 6.5 mils in elevation and depression from the colli- mated setting of 3.8.3a. b. Deflection knob travel.- The boresight knob shall provide a minimum travel of .6.5 mils in each direction from the collimated setting

39、 of 3.8.3a. c. Line of sight variation.- Variation in the line of sight in elevation, as the.deflection knob is rotated by at least 6.5 mils in each direction from the collimated setting of 3.8.3a shall not exceed 0.3 mil (total variation not to exceed 0.6 mil). 3.8.3.2 Post vibration collimation.-

40、The original collimation settings established in 3.8.3.1 shall not deviate more than 0.3 mil (including fixture error) as observed through eyepiece subsequent to meeting requirements of 3.6. 3.8.4 Collimation repeatability. 3.8.4.1 Assembling daylight body to head assembly.- The daylight body assemb

41、ly shall be capable of repeating an original line of sight within 0.20 mil when removed and reinstalled (a minimum of 3 times) into the head assembly. 3.8.4.2 Assembling passive elbow to daylight body/head assembly.- The passive elbow assembly shall be capable of repeating an original line of sight

42、within 0.20 mil when removed and reinstalled (a minimum of 3 times) into the combination daylight body and head assembly. 3.8.5 Image tilt - daylight and pssive.- The image of a target line which is originally parallel to the intersection of Datum Planes “A“ and “B“ shall emerge parallel to this sam

43、e intersection within 2.0 degrees of arc. 3.8.6 Parallelism of reticle and image - daylight and passive.- A line originally parallel to the intersection of Datum Plane “A“ and “B“ shall be parallel to the horizontal reticle line within 2.0 degrees of arc. . d 3.8.7 Objective focusing range - passive

Dwg. F11733401). 3,8.9.2 Image steadines

47、s.- There shall be no visible flicker, no movement of the image nor audible sparking when observed for one minute. This observation shall be made after -the expiration of 15 seconds tube stabilization time. 3.8.9.3 Reticle brightness.- with a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 30 volts applied to the Co

48、ntact 11733497 the reticle markings shall be visible when viewing through the eyepiece with the Image intensifier tube energized (see 3.8.9.1). The reticle brightness shall be adjustable from off to full bright by adjusting the reticle brightness control Knob MS91528- OE1B clockwise. 3.8.9.4 On-Off

49、Switch.- The image intensifier tube shall shut down when +24 VDC 2 6 VDC is removed from Contact 11733497 with the on-off switch . in the on position. 24 VDC unless the on-off switch is recycled from off to on.
