This specification is approved for use within the USA Belvoir Research, Development, and

2、 Engineering Center, Department of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers repair material for pneumatic floats and boats. 1.2 Classification. The repair material shall be of the following types an

3、d classes, as specified (see 6.2): Type 1 - Patches Class 1 - Round Class 2 - Oblong Class 3 - Repair sheet Class 4 - Face gum sheet Type II - Sealing tape Type III - Vulcanizing fluid. 2. In the event of a conflict between the text of this specification and the references cited h

10、erein, (except for associated detail specifications, specifications sheets or MS standards), the text of this specification shall take precedence. shall supersede applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained . 11、S I 3.1 Description. The repair material shall conform to MIL-C-14505 and be capable of making either hot or cold vulcanization repairs on pneumatic equipment and shall be as specified herein. 3.2 Identification marking, The repair material shall be identified in accordance with MIL-STD-130 with the

Contract d. The notation “U.S.“ e. Manufacturers Identification. 3.3 Type I, patches. 3.3.1 Class 1, round. The ro

13、und patch shall be type 7, class C, 4-1/2 inch diameter, color black. 3.3.2 Class 2, oblong. The oblong patch shall be type 7, class C, 10 inch long diameter, 6 inch short diameter, color black. 3.3.3 Cl.ass 3, repair sheet. The repair sheet patch shall be type 7, class C, 10 feet Long, 24 inches wi

14、de, color black. 3.3.4 C1as.s 4,. face gum sheet. The gum sheet shall be made from coating compound specified in MIL-C-14505, and shall be approximately .O20 THK, 10 ft. long-and 24 inches wide, color black. 3.4 Type,II,Sealing tape. The sealing tape shall be type 7, class C, two 12-1/2 feet long, 2

15、-1/2 inch wide color black. 3.5 Type.111, vulcanizing fluid. The vulcanizing fluid shall be bostik - 2405 two part cement and bostikure D, or equal. 3.5.1 Self life marking. Each container of the vulcanizing fluid shall be marked with the shelf life expiration date (month and year). determined as th

16、e useful life that the supplier certifies for the vulcanizing fluid. Shelf life shall be 3.6 Buffing solution. The solvent shall be commercial quality suitable for wiping Gepair area in preparation for applying adhesive. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility .for inspection. Unless othe

Each repair material shall be examined for the following defects. Presence

Ten each oblong patches shall be placed in a unit container,

31、 utilizing the manufacturers normal type Container. 5.1.1.1.3 Type I, class 3 (repair sheet), Each repair sheet shall be folded or rolled, tightly secured and then placed in a unit container utilizing the manufacturers normal type container. 5.1.1.1.4 Type I, class 4 (face.,gum sheet). Each face gum

33、pe). Two rolls of sealing tape shall be plgced in a unit container, utilizing the manufacturers normal type container. 5.113 Type III.(vulcanizing fluid). The vulcanizing fluid shall be Eurniehed in metal screw cap cans, utilizing the manufacturers normal type container. applicator brush furnished w

34、ith each can. The can shall have a capacity of 8 to 8-1/2 fluid ounces with an 5.1.1.4 BuEfing sol-ution. The buffing solution shall be furnished in metal screw cap cans, utilizing the manufacturers normal type container. shall have a capacity of 6 fluid ounces, The can 5.1.2 Intermediate containers

35、. Items of like description, in unit containers as specified in 5.1.1, shall be placed in a close-fitting intermediate container. Unit containers of the vulcanizing fluid, and as applicable, the unit containers of the buffing solution, shall be separated from each other within the intermediate conta

36、iner by the use of partitions and pads of corrugated fiberboard. construction of the intermediate container shall be as follows. The gross weight of the container shall not exceed 30 pounds. The 5.1,2.1 Level A. The intermediate container shall be a corrugated fiberboard box conforming to PPP-B-636,

37、 grade W6c. the unit containers of vulcanizing fluid and buffing solution shall be in accordance with PPP-F-320, grade W6c. the appendix to the box specification. The partitions and pads for separating Box closure shall be in accordance with 5.1.2,2 Level C. The intermediate container and the partit

38、ions and pads shall be as speci2ied for level A in 5.1.2.1 except that the fiberboard shall be class domestic, variety SW, grade 175. 5,2 Packin&. Packing shall be level A or level C as specified (see 6.2). 5.2.1 Level p. Items of like description, in unit containers and intermediate containers as s

39、pecified in 5.1.1 and 5.1.2 respectively, shall be packed together in a close-fitting box conforming to PPP-B-601, overseas type, style optional. The gross weight of the box shall not exceed 200 pounds. Box closure and strapping shall be as specified in the box specification and the appendix thereto

40、, except that the strapping shall be flat and the finish B. 5.2.2 Level C. Items of like description in unit containers and intermediate containers as specified in 5.1.1 and 5.1.2 respectively, shall be packed as specified in 5,2,1 for level A except that the boxes shall be domestic type and the str

45、d nylon cloth. 6.2 Ordering data. Procurement documents should specify the following: a. Title, number, and date of this specification. b. Type and class required (see 1.2). c. Level of preservation and level of packing required (see 5.1 and 5.2 respectively). d. When consolidation of unlike items t
