SCOPE 1.1 scope. This specification covers co
2、se-couped, electric-motor-driven, horizontally mounted, centrifugal water pumps complete with all necessary accessories and connections. 1.2 Classification. Pumps shall be of the following types and classes, as specified (see 6.2): O Type I - integral self-priming. Class A - 200 gallons per minute (
3、gpm) at 50-foot total head. Type II - Straight centrifugal. Class B - 25 gpm at 115-foot totalhead. Class C - 750 gpm at 50-foot total head. Class D - 70 gpm at 165-foot total head. The electric-motor-driven centrifugal pumps, hereinafter referred to as lgpumping unit1 1, shall consist of a centri-1 pump, electric mtor, and ali necessary connections for water-pumping
27、 opertins. 3.2 First article. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection (see 6.3) in accordance with 4.3. 3.3 Material. The pumph-q unit shall be fabricated from coqtibie materials, inherently corrosion resistant or treated to provide protection against the various form of corrosion an deterioration that may be encountered in any of the applicable operation and sto
31、rage environment to which the pumping unit may be exposed. 3.3.2 Dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals shall not be used in intimate contact with each other unless protected against galvanic corrosion. metals and methods of protection are defined and detailed in MIL-STD-889. The contractor shall identify the specific material, material finish or treatment for use with components and subcamponentc, and shall make the information available, upn request, to the contract- officer or designated representative. 3.3.4 Recovered materials. For
33、the purpose of this requirement, recavered materials are those materials which have been collected from solid waste and reprocecsed to become a source of raw materials, as disthquished from virgin raw materials. The components, pieces and- parts incoprated in the punping unit may be newly fabricated
34、 from recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, provided the pumping unit produced meets all other requirements of this specification. Used, rebuilt or rmufactured camponentc, pieces and parts shall not be incoprated in the pumping unit. 3.3.5 Hvdrocarbon compatibility. Those components
35、, parts, or accessories not specifically described shall be compatible with liquid hydrocarbon products including aviation gasolines, jet aircraft engine fuels, fuel oils, kerosene, and diesel oils. 3.4 Decicm and construction. 3.4.1 Screw threads.
