SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification contains requirements and provides quality assurance provision

13、all take precedence. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 - General. Materials, parts and assemblies shall comply with requirements specified on the applicable drawings, referenced specifications, and the following: 3.2 Parts. The parts shall canply with all requirements specifieclondrawing (dwg.) 10522511 as applic
14、able, and with all requirements specified in applicable specifications and standards. 3.3 Metal defects. - 3.3.1 Body. The body, including the cavity, shall be -free from cracks, splits, bursts, solid shuts, pipe, porosity, inclusions, folds, seam and other metal defects. 3.3.1.1 Body cavity. The bo
15、dy cavity shall be free of scale, fins, burrs, ?haw marks, laminations, imbedded foreign matter, pits, and sharp edges. 3.3.2 Base adapter. The base adapter shall be free from cracks, splits, cold shuts, laminations, porosity or similar defects. standards for evaluaEoftal detects shall be establishe

17、ative body assmblies). The braze metal shall be mbrforth-fuil 360 d egrees where the base adapter joins the body wall on the inside diameter. The braze metal shall also be visible for the 360 degrees around the joint between the rear of the body and the base adapter flange. Voids will be allowed on
18、the exterior surface only of the joint, providing no single void is longer than 1/4 on an inch in length and the accumulated length of voids shall not exceed 1/2 inch of the outside periphery. Braze metal must be visible in all voids. Braze metal color shall not be cause for rejection. 3 Provided by

The body assembly shall withstand stresses developed by the application of 5,000 pounds per square inch (psi) minimum, internal hydrostatic pr
20、essure for five seconds without leakage, rupture, or permanent deformation. a 3.4.2 Air pressure test (alternative body assembly). After hvdrostatic testinu the body assembly shall withstand an internal air pressure of 150 psi minimum for 15 seconds minimum without evidence of leakage. 3.4.3 Joint q
21、uality (alternate body assembly). The brazed joint shall be achieved ina manner which will minimize entrapped slag, voids, unwetted or unbonded areas and other brazing defects. The aggregate area of these defects shall not exceed 25% of the area of the faying surfaces; and the maximum extent of a de
22、fect shall not exceed 50% of the, overlap distance (width) of the joint. 3.5 Protective coatinq. Protective coating shall be in accordance with the applicable drawing and khe specifications referenced thereon. 3.6 Ballistic performance (Proving Ground) . The projectile body assembly shall-reveal no
23、evidence of failure when tested at excess and service pressure. Body assembly failure shall be: a. Projectile body and base adapter deformation attributable to b., Loss or breakup of any component, in the mortar tube or in. noncompliance with drawing and specification requirements. flight (except ob
24、turator band) . 3.7 First article inspection. This specification contains technical provisions for -first article inspection. Requirements for the submission of first article samples by the contractor shall be as specified in the contract. 3.8 Workmanship. The requirements for workmanship are as sho
25、wn on the applicable drawings in the applicable specifications and the following : 3.8.1 Surface finish. The requirements for surface finish are as detailed on the applicable drawings. Threads shall be full and undamaged for the 3.8.3 Burr. No part shall have a burr which might interfere entire minimum length as required
27、by the applicable drawings. with the assembly or function of the round or which might be injurious to personnel handling the item. a a 3.8.4 Foreign matter. No part or assembly shall contain dirt, grease, chips, rust, corrosion, or other foreign matter. Particular attention shall be given to the cav
28、ity of the body assembly, to insure that no grit, scale, accumulated braze alloy, residual flux or other foreign matter remains therein after final cleaning. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection and standard qualit assurance provisions. Unless otherwise specified herein
29、oz in the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 .shall apply and are hereby made a part of this detail specification. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The following types of inspection shall be conducted on this item: a. First article inspection b. Quality conformance inspection 4.3 First articl
30、e inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordance with the provisions of 4.3.2. 34、mation. Inspection lots shall comply with the lot formation provisions of MIL-A-48078. 4.4.1.1 Forqinq lots. Forging lots shall contain body forgings from not more than one heat of steel, that have been heat treated in the same heat-treatment equipment, at the same temperature, in one unchanged proc
35、ess. The forging lot thus constituted shall be the basis for the selection of samples for the tension test hereinafter p rescr i bed. 4.4.1.2 Cold shaping lots. Cold shaping lots shall contain cold shaped bodies, from not more than one heat of steel, that have been cold worked by the same process, u
36、tilizing the same tooling and equipment and stress relieved in the same furnace at the same temperature for the same length of time. The cold shaping lot thus constituted shall be the basis for the selection of samples for the tension test hereinafter prescribed. 4.4.1.3 Miscellaneous lot. Small lot
37、s, such as bodies from abnormally small heats of steel or bodies which have become separated from previously delivered lots, etc., may, at the discretion of the manufacturer, be grouped into miscellaneous, forging, cold shaping or casting lots as the case may be. Such lots shall be identified by a m
38、iscellaneous lot code number. 4.4.1.4 Groupinq. Forging, casting, or cold shaping lots shall remain grouped together for lot identity purposes, according to forging, casting or cold shaping lots, until such time as the results of the tension test have indicated that the lot has cornplied with the me
39、chanical properties requirements of the applicable drawing. 4.4.1.5 Projectile lot. All forgings, casting or cold shaping lots that have been determlned to have complied with the mechanical properties requirements of the applicable component drawing, may be re-grouped for assembly into projectile lo
40、ts. A projectile lot shall consist of projectile assemblies produced by one manufacturer, under one contract, in one unchanged process, in accordance with the same drawing, same drawing revision, same specification and same spec i fi cat ion rev is ion. 4.4.2 Examination. See MIL-A-48078. Unless oth
