REQUIRFMENTS 3.1 General.- Materials, parts and assemblies shall comply with the requirements specified on the applicable drawings, referenced specifications and the following: 3.2 First article sample.- Requirements for submission of first article sample by the contractor shall be as specified i

8、n the contract. 3.3 Heat treatment or stress relief of Projectile Body.- The heat treatment or stress relief applied shall be uniform throughout each lot of components and shall be so conducted as to produce in any component the mechanical properties specified on the applicable drawings. 3.3.1 Hot f

9、orged-heat treat method of manufacture (if applicable). - Projectile body forgings manufactured by this method shall be subjected to heat treatment to attain required mechanical properties. forgings shall consist of heating above the critical temperature, not to exceed i600 degrees Fahrenheit (F), f

16、ight interfere with the assembly or function of the item or which might be injurious to personnel handling the item. 3.6.3 Foreign matter.- All parts and assemblies shall be free of chips, dirt, grease, oil, rust or other foreign matter. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROvSIONS 4-1 Responsibility for inspecti

17、on. - Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified, the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory acceptable to the Government

The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. 4.1.1 Quality Assurance terms and definitions. - Reference shall be made to MIL-STD-109

20、Initial production sample.- At the beginning of regular production, a sample shall be submitted in accordance with contract requirements and shall consist of i5 slug proofing metal parts assemblies as follows: 5 Slug proofing metal parts assemblies, complete, including paint 5 Slug proofing metal pa

21、rts assemblies, complete, except paint 7 each bodies, prior to banding, including rotating seat 5 each rotating band blanks The sample shall be manufactured in the same manner, using the same materials, equipment, processes and procedures as will be used in regular production. parts and materials, i

22、ncluding packaging and packing shall be the same as used in regular production and shall be obtained from the same source of supply. at source, the sample shall be inspected for all the requirements of the drawings and specifications at a Government laboratory or such other facility specified in the

23、 contract. All 4.2.1.1 Examination and test. - After inspecti on and provisional acceptance 4.2.1.2 Initial production sample failure.- Failure of the sample to comply with the requirements of the drawings and specifications shall result in sample disapproval, 4.3 inspection provisions. 4.3.1 - Lot.

24、 4.3.1.1 Submission of product.- The product shall be submitted in accordance with MIL-STD-105 or MIL-STD-1235, as applicable. 4.3.1.2 Forging lots.- Forging lots shall contain bodies from not more 4.3.1.3. Cold shaping lots. - Cold shaping lots shall contain bodies from 4.3.1.4 Heat treatment lots.

25、- Heat treatment lots shall consist of bodies than one heat of steel. not more than one heat of steel. manufactured from forgings in accordance with 4.3.1.2 that have been heat treated in the same furnace at the same temperature and for the same length of time. After final heat treatment, forgings s

26、hall remain grouped for identity purposes until such time as the results of the tension test hereinafter prescribed indicate compliance with mechanical properties of the applicable drawing. 4.3.1.5 Stress relieved lots.- Stress relieved lots shall consist of bodies manufactured from cold shapings in

27、 accordance with 4.3.1.3 that have been stress relieved in the same furnace at the same temperature and for the same length of time. After stress relief the cold shapings shall remain grouped for identity purposes until such time as the tension test hereinafter prescribed indicates compfiance with m

29、or components that have become separated from previously delivered lots shall at the discretion of the supplier, be grouped into heat treatment or stress relief lots to which a miscellaneous lot nuniber shall be applied. lot thus constituted (either heat treated or stress relieved) shall form the ba

31、ile lots, A projectile lot shall consist of projectile assemblies produced by the one manufacturer, under one contract, in one unchanged process, in accordance with the same drawing, same drawing revision, same specification and same specifica- tion revision. 4.3 2 Examination. - One hundred percent

32、 examination shall be performed for all critical defects. on a defect basis in accordance with the classification of defects contained herein, using the sampling plans con-bained in MIL-STD-105 or MIL-STD-1235, as applicable. An AQL of 0.25 percent for each major defect and an AQL of 0.40 percent fo

(not requiring heat treatment) - Each body in the forging lot (as defined by 4.3.1.2) shall be subjected to Rockwell Hardness test using the “C“ scale to determine the bodies to be selected for the tension test. 4.3.3.1.1.2 Heat treatment lots.- In order to determine u

46、niformity of heat treatment, each body in the heat treatment lot (as defined by 4.3.1.4) shall be subjected to a Rockwell Hardness Test using the “C“ scale, to determine the bodies to be selected for the tension test. 4.3.3.1.1.3 Stress relieved lots.- Twenty-five bodies from the first batch process

47、ed through the stress relief furnace from each stress relieved lot (as defined by 4.3.1.5) shall be subjected to a Rockwell hardness test using the “C“ scale to assess uniformity of the product. 4.3.3.1.1.4 Miscellaneous lots. - Miscellaneous heat treatment lots of bodies shall be hardness tested in
