Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Material. Materials, parts and assemblies
16、 shall comply with the requirements specified on the applicable drawings and specifications. 3.2 Projectile assembly. The projectile assembly and components shall comply with all requirements specified on Drawing 12913928 and with all requirements specified in applicable specifications. 3 Provided b

The contractor shall establish procedures to provide material in accordance with the applicable ASTM specifications (see 2.2). This materi
18、al shall be free of pipe, porosity and heavy segregation, 3.4 Process Control Document (PCD). A process control document covering the melting, casting and mold cooling operations shall be submitted to the technical agency through the contracting officer for review and approval prior to initiation of
19、 production. This document shall include descriptions of procedures, equipment, process parameters, monitoring practices, calibration procedures and frequencies of testing for all listed control parameters. The 1604. Any revisions to the PCD shall be submitted to the technical process control docume
20、nt shall be submitted in accordance with DI-P- P agency through the contracting officer for review and approval. 4 As a minimum, the following process parameters shall be addressed in the PCD: a. b. d. e. f. g* h. i. C. Melt furnace and ladle chemistry. Inoculation practice . Casting pour temperatur
21、e. Time from inoculation to last metal poured. Time from pour to shakeout. Nodularity control. Mold except that when hot banding at not less than 427 degrees Celsius ( C) , no prior annealing is necessary. 3.6.3 Band seating sidewall contact. The rotating band shall be applied by carefully pressing
22、the band blank into the band seat so as to make contact with the sidewalls for a minimum of eight- tenths of the band seat depth. The band shall be applied in such a manner so as not to distort the body wall. In addition, there shall be no surface gap between the rotating band and the sidewalls of t
23、he band seat, after the rotating band has been machined to final dimension. 3.6.4 Band seating tightness. The diametrical clearance between the rotatins band and the band seat shall not exceed 0.15mm (-006 in), when the*destructive method of testing is used or 0.23mm (.009 in) when non-destructive m
24、ethod of testing is used. 3.7 Metal defects. 3.7.1 B.ody. The body, including the cavity, shall be free from cracks, splits, bursts, cold shuts, pipes, porosity, inclusions, folds, seams and other metal defects. 3.7.2 Visual radiographic standards. Visual standards for evaluation of metal defects wi
25、ll be established by the contractor with guidance from the Government Agency for each contract after the first months production. However, establishment of visual standards will not waive the requirements for compliance with 3.7.1, 3.7.3 Non-destructive testing. Non-destructive testing shall be perf

Hydrostatic test. Projectile bodies shall withstand an internal hydrostatic pressure of 10,000 t 5J0 pounds per squar
27、e inch (psi) for 15 seconds minimum. There shall be no evidence of leakage, cracks, ruptures or permanent distortion when tested in accordance with 4.5.6. b. Radiographic inspection. Each body shall be radiographed in accordance with 4.5.5 and meet the requirements of ASTM E-446 with the following e
28、xceptions: 1. There shall be no indications in the following categories; A, B, D, E, F, Go 2. Level I or better for the following categories; CA, CB, and CD. 3. Level i or better for category CC - shrink in the area illustrated in figure 1. in the remaining areas. No worse than level III, of categor
29、y CC, Only film as listed in 6.4 shall be used for radiography of this project il e . 3.8 Tool control dimensions. Dimensions marked tool control shall be gaged at the beginning of production and whenever tooling is replaced. inspect these dimensions, measurements of the tool may be substituted prov
30、ided the contractor has established correlation between the tool dimensions and the component dimensions prior to start of production. The contractor shall be responsible for maintaining adequate surveillance to assure that drawing requirements are being met throughout the life of the tool. Where de
31、struction of components is necessary to 3.9 Microstructure. The microstructure of the body shall be examined to determine form, distribution and size of graphite particles. 3.10 Workmanship. The requirements for workmanship are as shown on the applicable drawings and specifications and the following

Cleaning and preparation are required by component details, the finish specified shall apply to indicated
34、surfaces regardless of contour configuration. 3.10.2 Painting. Painting shall comply with the requirements of the applicable drawings and specifications. All paint shall be dry to the touch before packing for shipment. Drying time prior to testing shall be in accordance with the applicable specifica
35、tion. as detailed on the applicable drawing. The roughness comparison specimens prescribed in ANSI-B46.1 shall be used as a basis for surface roughness determinations. 3.10.3 Surface finish. The requirements for surface finish are i il 3.10.4 Threads. Threads shall be full and undamaged for the enti
36、re minimum length or depth as spcified on the applicable drawing . 3.10.5 Burr. No part shall have a burr which might interfere with the assembly or function of the projectile or which might be injurious to personnel handling the item. 3.10.6 Foreign matter. No part or assembly shall contain dirt, g
37、rease, rust, corrosion or other foreign mater . 3.10.7 Protection of rotating band. The machined rotating band 0 shall be protected from being nicked, burred or otherwise damaged in subsequent handling pr ior to shipment. 3.11 Proving ground. There shall be no break-up or separation of metal parts i
38、n the gun bore or in flight, when tested. 3.12 First article inspection. This specification makes provisions for first article inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requi
40、rements (examinations and tests) as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own ar any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Govern
41、ment reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed r equ i r em en t s . 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of Section 3 and
42、5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies subm
43、itted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspection, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize 2 . submission of known defective material, either indic
44、ated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The following types of inspection shall be conducted on this item: O a. Fir st ar ticle inspection b. Quality conformance inspection 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Inspection and t
45、ests (non ballistic). 4.3.1.1 Submission. The contractor shall submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordance with the provisions of 4.3.2. 47、 45 All assemblies and components shall have been produced by the con- tractor or furnished by a supplier and shall have been manufactured using the same production processes, procedures and equipment which will be used in fulfilling the contract. All parts and materials, including packaging and pac
48、king, shall be obtained from the same source of supply as will be used in regular production. Prior to submission, the contractor shall inspect the sample to the degree necessary to assure that it conforms to the requirements of the contract and submit a record of this inspection with the sample in-
49、 cluding statements of findings for materials, processes and tests. A sample containing known defects will not be submitted unless specifically authorized, by the Contracting Officer. ticle sample, or portion thereof, as directed by the Contracting Officer, shall also be submitted whenever there is a lapse in production for a period in excess of 90 days or whenever a change occurs in manufacturing
