2、y the US Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements and quality assurance provisions for the manufacture of standard metal pal

3、lets for use in unitizing ammunition (see 6.1). 1.2 Classification. The standard metal pallets shall be of the following types (see 6.2). Type I Pallet, Standard Size 44” x 40”, Sheet Metal Type II Pallet, Standard Size 45 1/2” x 35”, Sheet Metal Type III Pallet, Standard Size 48” x 40”, Sheet Metal

4、 Type IV Pallet, Standard Size 53” x 42”, Sheet Metal Type V Pallet, Special Size 56” x 28”, Sheet Metal Type VI Pallet, Special Size 70.75” x 29.31”, Sheet Metal Type VII Pallet, Special Size 78.50” x 29.31”, Sheet Metal 2. The following documents form a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. Unless otherwise specifie

16、d, the issues of the documents which are DoD adopted shall be those listed in the issue of the DODISS specified in the solicitation. Unless otherwise specified, the issues of documents not listed in the DODISS shall be the issue of the nongovernmental documents which is current on the date of the so

Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein (except for related specification sheets), the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, howe

19、ver, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Materials. Materials and parts shall be in accordance with applicable drawings and specifications. Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license f

The pallet assemblies shall comply with all requirements specified on drawings AC200000431, AC200000433, AC200000435, AC200000437, AC200000413, ACV00164 and ACV00165 as applicable and associated drawings and with all requirements specified in

21、 applicable specifications and standards. 3.3 Stacking strength. The pallets shall withstand a 16,000 pound minimum (min.) stacking load. 3.4 Welding. The welding shall comply with the requirements of MIL-STD-1261, Class 1. The welding procedure and workmanship specimens shall be submitted prior to

22、production in accordance with MIL-STD-1261. 3.5 Weld integrity. Workmanship specimens in accordance with MIL-STD-1261 shall be produced on a monthly basis. If first article procedures and specimens were completed satisfactory, further workmanship specimen submissions may be waived. This may be done

23、prior to the first submission or following any monthly specimen submission. Failure of any monthly workmanship specimen shall require return of specimen submissions to the government. 3.5.1 DELETED 3.5.2 DELETED 3.6 Painted surface. The painted surface of the pallets shall comply with the requiremen

24、ts of Drawing AC200000423 CHEMICAL AGENT RESISTANT COATING (CARC) and applicable drawings. 3.7 Unit load tests. The unit loaded pallets shall conform to the requirements specified in MIL-STD-1660 (see 4.5.3). 3.8 First article inspection. When specified in the contract or purchase order (see 6.2), a

25、 sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with the technical provisions herein (see 4.3). 3.9 Workmanship. 3.9.1 Pallets. The pallets shall be regular, smooth, free from wrinkles, cracks, rough spots, burrs, sharp edges and any other defect that might affect the serviceabi

26、lity, durability and safety of the pallets. Weld splatter is permissible on non-load bearing surfaces provided it is firmly attached. 3.9.2 Paint coating. The finished coat shall cover all required surfaces and be continuous. Paint runs are permissible provided they are no more than 3 inches in leng

27、th, solid and free from cracks and blisters. Excess thickness is acceptable in areas where multiple passes of the paint gun are required to obtain total coverage. Paint chips which expose primer or bare metal are acceptable provided they are not more than 0.25 inches in diameter and no more than two

Scratches which expose primer or bare metal are permissible provided they are no more than 1.5 inches in length and no more than 10 inches

29、 total on a pallet. Bare metal on contact surfaces of bottom of skids and in areas inaccessible to paint is permissible. 3.9.3 Parts. All parts shall be free of chips, dirt, grease, rust and foreign material. The cleaning method used shall not be injurious to any of the parts nor shall any of the pa

30、rts be contaminated by the cleaning agents used. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance, of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise

31、 specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in th

32、e specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. Unless otherwise specified herein or in the contract, the provisions of MIL-A-48078 shall apply and are hereby made a part of this detail specification. 4.1.1 Responsibilit

33、y for compliance. All items must meet all requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specification shall become a part of the contractors overall inspection system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in this specification shall not relieve the contr

34、actor of the responsibility of assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the

35、 Government to acceptance of defective material. 4.2 Classification of inspections. The following types of inspections shall be conducted on this item: a. First article inspection (see 4.3) b. Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4). 4.3 First article inspection. 4.3.1 Submission. The contractor sh

36、all submit a first article sample as designated by the Contracting Officer for evaluation in accordance with the provisions of 4.3.2. The first article sample shall consist of nine (9) painted pallet assemblies, ten (10) unpainted pallet assemblies and six (6) each of every subassembly and component

Inspection lots shall comply with the lot formation of MIL-A-48078. 4.4.2 Examination. Inspection for c

Unless otherwise specified in the Classification of Defects and Test Tables, sampling plans for major and minor defects shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105, Inspection Level II.
