REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Des
31、cription. The ASH heater shall be electric powered; re-circulating; operate with either diesel or JP-8 fuels; controlled by a remote thermostat; and require no greater than 3 kilowatts (kW) of external power. The heater shall deliver clean, heated and ventilated air through sealed detachable flexibl
32、e ducts; have a protective enclosure; have wheels and handrails or handles for local movement and positioning; and withstand environmental conditions of arctic use. 3.2 First article. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.21, a sample shall be subjected to first article inspection in accordance with 4.2
33、. 3.3 Performance. 3.3.1 Rated output and efficiency. The heater shall deliver not less than 120,000 British Thermal Units per Hour (BTUH) of clean air (see 3.8.7) when operated in the all fresh air mode, with an air temperature of O OF, at sea level, against an 0.5-inch water gauge (WG) pressure, u
34、sing diesel fuel, grade Low Sulfur No. 1-D conforming to A-A-52557. For this rated output, the temperature at the output duct connection on the heater shall be between 120 and 180 OF. The overall heater efficiency (output/input) shall not be less than 80 percent. The indicated efficiency of the heat
35、er shall not be less than 85 percent. 3.3.2 Dimensions. The overall dimensions of the complete heater assembly with accessories stowed for packing shall not exceed the following: Height: 58 inches Length: 65 inches Width: 40 inches Separate duct storage is acceptable and shall not be included as par

The heater shall weigh no more than 355 pounds, including the weight of accessories, lubricants, and internal fuel sufficient for one hour of operation. weight specified. The heater shall withstand storage and transportation without impairment of capabilities under climatic conditions ranging from -60 to +160 OF and to altitudes of 4,000 feet. 3.4.2 Operatinq conditions. The heater shall start and operate in all modes (“VENT“, “AUTO“,
38、 “MANVAL“) within an ambient air temperature ranging from -40 to +65 OF. 3.4.3 Humidity and salt fog. When subjected to the tests specified in 4.6.4.3 and 4.6.4.4, the heater shall show no evidence of peeling paint, malfunctioning, rough operation, electrical shorts, erratic pressures, or any other
39、irregular operation. 3.4.4 Rain. The heater design shall be compatible with NBC protection and shall permit performance of mission-essential operations, maintenance, and decontamination tasks by suitably clothed, trained and acclimatized personnel for the survival periods and NBC environments required by

Radiated emissions, electric field, 10 kHz to 18 GHz, (RE102) electric field emissions shall not be radiated from the heater or any interconnecting cables in excess of those shown in figure 1. 47、ower cable. An external 25-fOOt power cable shall be supplied with the heater. The cable shall be rated for outdoor use and shall meet all the environmental and electrical requirements specified herein. One end of the cable shall be attached to the heater; the other end of the cable shall have a pow
48、er connector conforming to MS3406, part number MS3406D16-10P. A captive chained or cabled cover for the connector and a strain relief cable clamp with weatherproof sleeve shall be provided. 3.5.3 Lead assembly. A lead assembly shall be supplied with the heater and shall conform to figure 2. relief,
