3、VEHICULAR COMPARTMENT This specification is approved for use by the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC), Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), Department of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Departm

4、ent of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers an electric-powered, single-stage, vaneaxial fan, referred to herein as “fan”, used to ventilate the crew compartment of an armored military vehicle (see 6.1). 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS 2.1 General. The documents listed in this section are

This section does not include documents cited in other sections of this specification or recommended for additional information or as examples. Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event of a conflict between the text of this document and the references ci

16、ted herein, the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document, however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a first article sample shall be subjected to first article

17、 inspection in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Materials. Materials used shall be in accordance with the manufacturers materials specifications for fans. The materials shall be capable of meeting all the operational and environmental requirements specified herein (see 4.8.1). 3.2.1 Recycled, recovered, or

18、environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.3 Desi

19、gn and construction. The fan shall be constructed in accordance with Drawing 12292099 and as specified herein (see 4.8.1 and 4.8.2). 3.3.1 Weight. The weight of the fan shall not exceed 12 pounds (lb) (see 4.8.3). 3.3.2 Electric motor. The motor shall be a series-wound, three-speed, variable, 24 vol

20、t (V) direct current (dc) type, directly coupled to the fan shaft. The motor shall be operable from a 285 V supply (see 4.8.1 and 4.8.2). 3.4 Performance. 3.4.1 Voltage. The fan shall operate with any control voltage from 11 to 30 V dc (see 4.8.4.1). Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or n

The fan shall show no evidence of an abnormal noise or vibration when used within the standard operating range. The direction of airflow shall be as specified on Drawing 12292099. The current shall n

22、ot exceed 29.5 amperes (A) (see 4.8.4.2). 3.4.3 Rated performance. The fan shall deliver air at the rate specified in table I under the conditions specified therein, at 29.5 A or less (see 4.8.4.3). TABLE I. Rated performance. The fan shall meet the requirements

24、of MIL-STD-461 limits CE102 and RE102-3 (see 4.8.4.4). 3.4.5 Insulation resistance. The insulation resistance of the fan shall be not less than 12 megohms at 500 V dc at a relative humidity of 40 to 80 percent (%) (see 4.8.4.5). 3.4.6 Dielectric strength. The fan shall withstand a voltage of 500 V r

25、oot-mean-square (rms) at 60 Hertz (Hz) for 1 minute with no evidence of arcing or breakdown (see 4.8.4.6). 3.4.7 Noise level. The sound power level of the fan, when operating as specified in 3.4.3, shall not exceed the values shown in table II, when measured at a distance of 3.048 meters (10 feet) i

26、n any direction (see 4.8.4.7). 3.4.8 Environmental. 3.4.8.1 High temperature. The fan shall demonstrate no performance degradation and show no evidence of damage or deformation after being stored at temperatures up to 71 degrees Celsius (C) (160 degrees Fahrenheit (F) and operated at temperatures up

27、 to 54 C (130 F) (see 4.8.4.8.2). 3.4.8.2 Low temperature. The fan shall demonstrate no performance degradation and show no evidence of damage or deformation after being stored at temperatures down to minus (-) 57 C (-70 F) and operated at temperatures down to -54 C (-65 F) (see 4.8.4.8.3). 29、 cleaning. The fan shall show no evidence of damage or deterioration and demonstrate no performance degradation following a steam and waterjet cleaning process which uses a cleaner conforming to best commercial practice, and which applies the jet perpendicular to the fan surface from a distance of n

30、ot more than 30.5 centimeters (cm) (1 foot) for steam cleaning and not more than 1.52 meters (m) (5 feet) for waterjet cleaning. The jet pressure shall be 72434 kPa (1055 pounds per square inch gage (psig) and the jet shall be moved at such a rate that the entire surface of the fan is subjected to t

31、he jet for a period of 1 minute (see 4.8.4.8.4). 3.4.8.4 Humidity. The fan shall demonstrate no performance degradation and show no evidence of damage or deformation after exposure to a relative humidity ranging from 0 to 98% (see 4.8.4.8.5). 3.4.8.5 Shock. The fan shall show no evidence of damage o

32、r deformation and demonstrate no performance degradation after exposure to sawtooth shock pulses of 40 gravity units (g) for 11 milliseconds (ms) time duration applied along each of the three major axes (see .8.4.8.6). 3.4.8.6 Vibration. The fan shall show no evidence of damage or deformation and de

33、monstrate no performance degradation during and after exposure to vibration levels of 1.5 and 4.2 g in the frequency range of 5 to 500 to 5 Hz with a sweep time of 15 minutes (see figure 1 and 4.8.4.8.7). 3.4.9 Durability. The fan shall be capable of operating 1000 hours continuously at 272 V dc and

34、 49850 Pa (20.2 inches of water) pressure without performance degradation and without any maintenance or malfunction (except brushes may be replaced after not less than 500 hours). During the 1000 hours, the fan shall be in an ambient temperature of 2111 C (7020 F) and shall be switched off and on e

35、very 24 hours. A 1 minute off time shall be employed (see 4.8.4.9). 3.5 Finish. Exposed ferrous and aluminum surfaces shall be cleaned, treated, primed and finished in accordance with best commercial practice (see 4.8.2). The finish color shall match color chip number 24533 (green) of FED-STD-595. P

Nameplates and product marking shall be as specified on Drawing 12292099 (see 4.8.2). 3.7 Workmanship. The fan shall be free of defects such as burrs, sha

37、rp edges, corrosion, soil, dirt and any defects that would affect its performance or appearance (see 4.8.2). 4. VERIFICATION 4.1 Classification of inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are classified as follows: a. First article inspection (see 4.3) b. Conformance inspection (see

38、4.4) 1. Examination (see 4.5) 2. Acceptance test (see 4.6) c. Control test (see 4.7) 4.2 Inspection conditions. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), all inspections shall be conducted under the following conditions: a. Air temperature: 2310 C (7318 F) b. Barometric pressure: 96 +6.8/-10.1 kPa (28.5

39、 +2/-3 inches of mercury) c. Relative humidity: 5030% 4.3 First article inspection. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), first article inspection shall be performed on three fans when a first article sample is required (see 3.1). This inspection shall include the examinations of 4.5 (see table V) a

40、nd the tests of table III in the order specified in table IV. 4.4 Conformance inspection. Conformance inspection shall include the examinations of 4.5 and the tests of 4.6 and 4.7. 4.5 Examination. 4.5.1 Sampling. Samples from an inspection lot for conformance inspection shall be selected in accorda

41、nce with ANSI/ASQ Z1.4. Each sample selected shall be inspected as specified herein for the defects listed in table V.
