2、cies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers the requirements for rigid steel raceway conduits which consist of a base and cover so formed as to distinguish raceways from metallic tubular conduits. 1.2 Types and sizes, The raceways shall be of the following types
3、and sizes, as specified (see 6.2): Type I - Base snaps on cover as one unit - size no. 2, 5, 7, and 10 (see table I and figure 1). Type II - Cover snaps over base as separate units - size no. 15 (see table II and figure 2). Type III - Cover snaps over outside of base as separate units - size no. 19c
4、 and 19b (see table III and figure 3). Type IV - Cover snaps inside of base as separate units - size no. 21c, 210, 30c, and 30b (see table IV and figure 4). 1.2.1 Color. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Raceways. Raceways covered by this specification shall conform to the requirements of Underwrite
16、r Laboratories, Inc. standard subject no. 5 for surface raceways and fittings. 3.2 Construction. Raceways shall be constructed of mild steel and shall consist of two metal pieces so forqed and constructed as to provide a complete and secure enclosure which will afford adequate protection against mec
17、hanical injury or rodent destruction of wire conductors, 3.3 Dimensions. Overall dimensions for each type raceway shall be as specified in tables I, II, III, and IV, and figures 1, 2, 3, and 4. Radii and dimensions for controlling the general shape shall be controlled by the manufacturers practice.

Raceways surfaces shall be free of foreign matter, e contain no sharp edges or burrs, and shall be smooth with uniform color. There shall be no cracks or splits in the material, however, slight enamel cra
27、zing or scoring on the raceway may be acceptable. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the Performance of all inspection requirements (examinations and tests) as specified he
28、rein. Except as otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the in
29、spections set forth in this specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements. assure ion system 4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items shall ineet al requirements of sections 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this specif
30、ication shall become a part of the contractors overall inspec or quality program. specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of ensuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling inspectio
31、n, as part of manufacturing operations, is an acceptable practice to ascertain conformance to requirements, however, this does not authorize submission of known defective material, either indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to accept defective material. The absence of any inspecti
32、on requirements in the O 4.2 Inspection. 4.2.1 Inspection lot. A lot, for inspection purposes, shall consist of raceways that are of the same material, type, finish, size and manufactured under essentially the same conditions. 4.2.2 Quality conformance inspection. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2
33、1, quality conformance inspection shall be conducted in accordance with Table V. Quality conformance inspection shall be applied to each lot of completed items being offered for fulfillment of the contract. Quality conforinance inspections shall consist of the following: a. The raceways shall be examined for design, construction, materials, components, dimensions
35、, marking, and workmanship to determine compliance with the requirements of this specification. from those requirements shall be cause for rejection. e Any deviation 4.2.2.2 Tests. An enamel finished sample from each lot snall be tested with a 3/4 inch diameter ball at a 5 inch-pound impact over a h
36、ollow anvil. After the impact, the enamel coating shall remain unbroken, even if the surface of the metal is dented by the impact force. 4.2.2.3 Packaging inspection. Preservation, packaging, packing, and marking for shipment and storage shall be inspected to determine compliance with the requiremen
