SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This document covers elastic webbing suspenders of one type

14、 and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained . 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Guide samples. Guide samples, when furnished, are solely for guidance and information to the contractor (see 6.3). appear in the sample, in which case this document shall take precedence. Variation from this documen

15、t may 3.2 Materials. (See 6.4.) 3.2.1 Basic material. The material for the shoulder straps and shoulder loops shall be cotton elastic webbing, 1 1/2 inches wide, Olive Drab 7, conforming to type I, class 11 of JJ-W-155, except that the requirements for colorfastness to accelerated weathering shall n

16、ot apply. 3.2.2 Webbing. The material for the hook tabs shall be cotton webbing, 1 1/2 inches wide, Olive Drab 7, conforming to type IIa, class 3 of MIL-W-530, except that the requirement for colorfastness to accelerated weathering shall not apply. 3.2.3 Thread. The thread for seaming and stitching

17、shall be cotton type IA3 or IB3, ticket No. 30, 3 ply, and 24, 4 ply, Olive Drab S-1 (C.A. 660221, conforming to V-T-276 . 3 Provided by IHSNot for ResaleNo reproduction or networking permitted without license from IHS-,-,-MIL-S-1092 6G 3.2.3.1 Colorfastness. The dyed thread shall show fastness to p

18、erspiration and laundering equal to or better than the standard sample. sample is available, the colored thread shall show “good“ colorfastness to perspiration and laundering. When no standard 3.2.4 Slide buckles. The buckles shall be made from corrosion-resistant steel sheet, finish No. 2D, or stee

19、l strip, finish No. 1, conforming to class 430 of QQ-S-766; or quarter-hard or half-hard brass, sheet or strip, conforming to copper alloy No. 268 of QQ-B-613. The buckles shall conform to the design and dimensions shown on Drawing 2-4-48. The steel buckles shall have a dull black finish, produced c

20、hemically or by a fused salt bath, when tested as specified in 4.2.1. finish conforming to MIL-F-495. The brass buckles shall have a black chemical 3.2.5 Hooks. The hooks shall be made from corrosion-resistant steel wire conforming to form 1, composition 430, condition A of QQ-W-423; or quarter-hard

21、 round brass wire conforming to alloy No. 270 of QQ-W-321. hooks shall conform to the design and dimensions shown on Drawing 2-4-48. steel hooks shall have a dull black finish, produced chemically or by a fused salt bath, when tested as specified in 4.2.1. The brass hooks shall have a black chemical

22、 finish conforming to MIL-F-495. The The 3.2.6 Ferrule. If steel wire is used for the hooks, the ferrules shall be formed from stainless steel strips composition 430, condition A, 0.025-inch thick, conforming to QQ-S-766. The steel ferrules shall have the same finish as the steel hooks. If brass hoo

23、ks are used, the ferrules shall be formed from brass strips, copper alloy No. 260 or 268, quarter-hard, 0.025-inch thick, conforming to QQ-B-613. The brass ferrules shall have the same finish as the brass hooks. 2-4-48. The design of the ferrules shall.be as shown on Drawing c 3.2.7 Labels. Each pai

24、r of suspenders shall have an identification label conforming to type IV, class 2 of DDD-L-20. requirements of DDD-L-20 shall apply. The following cable numbers of the Standard Color Reference of America are furnished for information and guidance as to the intensity of the shade desired for the labe

Drawing 2-4-48 establishes dimensional requirements for the hardware and shows the desired end item. inconsistencies between the written document and the drawing, the document shall control. If there are any 35 Construction. a 3.5.1 Stitches, seams, and stitching. All st

27、itches, seams, and stitching shall conform to FED-STD-751. The type of seam, stitching, and stitches per inch shall be as specified in table I. Where two or more methods for seams or stitch types are given for the same part of the operation, any one of them may be used. a 3.5.1.1 Automatic stitching

28、. Any of the stitching operations cited in this document may be performed with an automatic machine, provided that the requirements for stitch pattern, stitches per inch, size, and types of thread are met, and that at least three tying, overlapping, or back stitches are used to secure the ends of st

29、itching. * 3.5.1.2 Type 301 stitching. Ends of all stitching shall be backstitched or bartacked not less than 1/2 inch except where ends are caught in other seams and stitching. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there will be no loose or tight stitching and the lock will be embedded in the

30、sewn material. 3.5.1.2.1 Repairs of type 301 stitching. Repairs of type 301 stitching shall be as follows: a. When thread breaks or bobbin run-outs occur during sewing, the stitching shall be repaired by restarting the stitching a minimum of 1/2 inch in back of the end of stitching.l/ b. Thread brea

31、ks, or two or more consecutive skipped or run-off stitches, noted during inspection of the item (in-process or end item) shall be repaired by overstitching. The stitching shall start a minimum of 1/2 inch in back of the defective area, continue over the defective area, and continue a minimum of it2

32、inch beyond the defective area onto the existing stitching.l/ C. Loose or excessively tight stitching shall be repaired by removing the defective stitching without damaging the materials and restitching in the required manner . !L/ I/ When making the above repairs, the ends of stitching are not requ

All repairs shall be in accordance with 3.5.1.2.1 except for substituting 3/4 inch wherever 1/2 inch appea

34、rs. 3.5.1.4 Thread ends. All thread ends shall be trimmed to a maximum length of 1/4 inch. 3.6 Manufacturing operation requirements. The suspenders shall be manufactured as specified by the operations in table I. The contractor is not required to follow the exact sequence of operations listed. Any a

44、 = MIL-S-1092 6G 5. PACKAGING 5.1 Preservation. Preservation shall be level A or Commercial, as specified (see 6.2). 5.1.1 Level A. Each pair of suspenders shall be folded in half to an approximate length of 10 inches and tied at the center with cotton tape or twine. Ten pairs of folded suspenders,

45、stacked in two tiers of five pairs each, with every other pair reversed, shall be unit packed in a close-fitting clear polyethylene film bag of 0.00125-inch thickness (I. 25 percent tolerance). The polyethylene bag shall be formed with heat sealed seams that are straight, continuous, and parallel to

46、 each other and to the Eormed edges of the bag. The polyethylene bag closure shall be effected by heat sealing with the heat seal made as close as possible to the open end or by means of a mechanical tie (e.g., paper or vinyl plastic covered soft steel wire, aluminum band). Prior to or during the he

47、at seal closure operation, excess air within the bag shall be expelled. Alternatively, the suspenders may be unit packed in a kraft paper bag conforming to type II, grade A, number 10 of U-B-36. The open end of the paper bag shall be folded over and secured with 2-inch minimum width gummed paper tap

48、e conforming to type III, grade B of PPP-T-45. The unit pack shall measure approximately 10 inches in length, 5 inches in width and 3 3/8 inches in depth. n 5.1.2 Commercial. Suspenders shall be preserved in accordance with ASTM D 3951. 5.2 Packing. Packing shall be level A, B, or Commercial, as spe

49、cified (see 6.2). Jt 5.2.1 Level A packing. One hundred and twenty pairs of suspenders, preserved as specified in 5.1, shall be packed in a snug-fitting fiberboard shipping container conforming to style RSC-L, grade V2s of PPP-B-636. inside of each shipping container shall be fitted with a box liner conforming to type CI?, class weather-resistant, variety DW, g
