When otherwise specified (see 6.5), before production is comenced, a sample of the finished scarf covered by this specification shall be submitted or made available to the contracting officer or his authorized representative for inspection and tests as sp
12、ecified in 4.2. The approval of the first article authorizes the comencement of production, but does not relieve the contractor of responsibility for cmpliance with all applicable provisions of this specification. The first article shall be manufactured by the contractor in the same facilities to be
13、 used for the manufacturing of the production items. 3.3 Materials. Materials shall conform to the referenced specifications and the requirements specified herein. 3.3.1 Base cloth. The base cloth shall be a two-way texturized polyester fabric with one of the following weaves: 3 up, 2 downr twill, 2
14、 up, 2 down, twill or plain. The polyester yarn shall be 150 denier for warp and filling before texturizing. The weight of the fabric shall be 5 (plus or minus) .4 oz per square yard. The materials for the class 21, camouflage pattern only, shall be in accordance with class 1 of MILZ-44031. 3.3.1.1
15、Color. The color of the cloth for classes 1 through 20 shall conform to the list below and shal match the color of the standard sample (see 3.1), under natural (North sky) daylight having a color tanperature of 7500 (plus or minus) 500 Kelvin. The color shall be a good approximation to the standard

When tested as specified in 4.5.2, the dyed cloth shall show fastness to laundering, perspiration and light
19、equal to or better than the standard sample. shall show good fastness to laundering, perspiration and light. If no standard sample is available, the dyed cloth 3.3.1.2 Camouflage. The camouflage pattern shall be in accordance with drawing number 2-1-1516 (US Amy Natick Research and Development Labor
20、atories drawing). 3.3.1.3 Finish. The finish of the basic cloth shall match the finish of the standard sample. approved by the contracting officer prior to production. When n3 standard sample is available the finish must be 3.3.2 Thread. The thread for machine stitching shall be polyester thread, co
21、nfornihg to type I, class 3, size A of V-T-285. 3.3.2.1 Color. The color of the thread shall approximate the colors specified in 3.3-1.1, and shall match the standard sample furnished (see 3.1). 3.3.2.1.1 Colorfastness. The dyed thread shall show fastness to laundering, wet-dry cleaning, perspiratio

The snap fasteners shall conform to style 3 (pronged ring head type), 17 lines, finish 3 of MIL-F-10884. 3.3
23、.4 Innerlining. The innerlining of the neck band shall be cotton buckram of light, open-weave. single ply fabric weighing 2.5 ounces (minimum) per square yard having a minimum thread count of 40 ends in the warp and 20 ends in the filling. 3.3.5 velcro fastener. The velcro fastener shall conform to
24、type II, class 1, MIL-F-21840 and dimensions shown on drawing 5-2-80. compatible color shade to the scarf. The fastener shall be 3.4 Construction. The scarfs shall be constructed in accordance with figure 1 and the requirements specified herein. 3.4.1 Seams and stitching. All stitching shall be in a
25、ccordance with FED-STD-751, using thread specified in 3.3.2. There shall be 8 to 10 stitches to the inch. Thread tension shall be maintained so that there shall be no loose stitching and so the lock for the 301 stitching shall be embedded in the center of the materials sem. Thread breaks shall be ba

Patterns for cutting shall be furnished by the contractor and shall provide pieces which when pr
27、operly assembled will meet the dimen- sions specified on drawing 5-2-80. be such that the warp of the bib fabric shall be in the vertical direction and the warp of the neckband fabric shall be in the horizontal direction on the finished scarf when viewed as shown on drawing 5-2-80. The cutting and l
28、ayout of materials shall 3.4.3 Manufacturing operations. 3.4.3.1 - Bib. The bib shall be made of a single ply of material specified in 3.3.1. The bib shall be hemned on both sides and one end as shown on drawing 5-2-80, using 301 stitching. 3.4.3.2 Neckband. (i): The unhmed end of the bib shall be c
29、entered on the neckband piece and the piece folded lengthwise over the top of the bib. The neckband piece shall then be stitched along its full length 1/16 inch to 1/8 inch from the edge with a 3/8 inch turn under as shown on figure 1. The stitch type shall be 301 and the seam type shall be LSe-l. e
30、nds of the neckband shall be adjusted to a finished length of 19 inches plus or minus 1/4 inch and closed with zig-zag stitching securely tacking the stitching ends. A 304 stitch type and a SSc-1 seam type shall be used. As an alternate the open ends of the neckband may be finished with stitch type
31、504 and 505, with 28 (plus or minus) 4 stitches per inch and overstitched 1/4 inch at the stitching ends or bartacked to cover the final 3 stitches. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the perform- ance of all inspection requirements as specified herein, specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or a
